“Hehe~ Ye Su’s apple slices are so good~ I want more!” She was twenty years old, and still acting cute in front of a kid?
Ye Su looked speechless. Well, he’d acted cute in front of her plenty of times too, so they were even. From now on, he was legally allowed to act cute, too.
“If there’s danger next time, please tell me, okay? Don’t lock me in a room.” Ye Su took another apple from the fruit basket and began peeling it as he complained to Fiona. In response, Fiona just stuck out her tongue cutely.
“No way~! If there’s a next time, I’ll throw Little Ye Su even farther away!” Fiona glared at Ye Su with puffed-up cheeks, making it clear this was non-negotiable.
That’s too harsh! Could you use the word ‘send’ instead of ‘throw,’ please?
“Well... Big Sis, why are you so nice to me, anyway? We’ve only known each other for a day.” Ye Su quietly peeled the apple. That was what he couldn’t figure out. By any normal person’s logic, what had he done to deserve Fiona going to such lengths for him?
At Ye Su’s question, Fiona’s eyes dimmed a little, as if he’d touched on something weighing on her mind.
“What’s wrong? Did I ask something I shouldn’t have?” Ye Su asked softly, looking at Fiona, who was still looking downcast.
“N-no... It’s nothing. Well... why am I so nice to you, Little Ye Su~? It’s because you’re so cute, of course~” A smile appeared on Fiona’s pretty face, and she reached out with her weak hand to pinch Ye Su’s cheek.
“What kind of answer is that...?” Ye Su continued feeding the apple to Fiona, deciding not to press her any further.
It was obvious that the question had brought back some unpleasant memories for Fiona.
“Mmm! Delicious!” Fiona took another bite, then gave him an encouraging look, urging him to cut another piece.
Fiona watched Ye Su peel apples for her with a smile, her feelings in turmoil.
How could two people be so alike?
Her younger brother, who’d been killed by a monster five years ago, had looked exactly like Little Ye Su...
But the two of them had completely different auras. As an A-Rank adventurer, Fiona could sense the differences in everyone’s magic. Different people had different magical auras. Ye Su was nothing like her brother—or rather, he was far too weak.
After all, even five years ago, her younger brother had been strong enough to be a B-Rank adventurer. His talent had far surpassed her own.
But when she first met Ye Su, outside that cave, she’d instinctively seen him as her younger brother. Fiona knew they weren’t the same person, yet she’d felt a strange stirring in her heart. That was one reason she’d kindly taken Ye Su to the guild to look for his parents, and later wanted to keep him by her side.
Although he wasn’t the same person, Ye Su felt especially familiar to Fiona. Perhaps, without even realizing it, she’d begun to place some of the feelings she had for her younger brother onto Ye Su, out of guilt over what she felt she owed her brother. Of course, she knew that wasn’t right.
“Here, this is the last one. Save room for lunch. Just focus on recovering, okay? I’m going out to buy a few things.” Ye Su handed Fiona the apple slice, then left the medical room.
As Fiona watched Ye Su walk away, she saw more and more of her younger brother in him.
...
After fighting the monster two days ago, Ye Su realized that this world was completely steeped in danger.
If his guess was right, and the bugs he hadn’t finished fixing still existed in this world, then more and more BUG monsters would keep appearing. Even the heroes of this world couldn’t defeat those monsters. There might be plenty more abilities like this one that granted 100% damage immunity.
Ye Su was beginning to understand why he’d been transported to this world. He was probably here to fix the bugs throwing it into chaos.
After all, a GM with cheat-like powers is the natural enemy of bugs, isn’t he?
