Zzzzt—

Blue arcs of electricity crackled in the ghost doctor’s hands, filling the room with a nauseating stench of burnt flesh. Dr. Chen instantly recognized the corpse—the tech nerd snatched moments ago by the ghostly hand.

The moment he stepped inside, the ghost doctor’s gaze shifted from the body to Dr. Chen. Milky-white eyes locked onto him with venomous intent.

“What’re you staring at? Never been chased by your wife before?” The sight of the ghost doctor fiddling with the corpse using medical tools didn’t faze Dr. Chen one bit. Nothing compared to whatever was pounding on the door outside.

Annoyed at being ignored, the ghost doctor yanked the electrotherapy device off the nerd’s head—a contraption eerily resembling Sun Wukong’s golden headband—and strode toward Dr. Chen, brandishing it.

“Yang Yongxin, are you?” Wrench gripped tight, Dr. Chen poised to strike—when a deafening THUD erupted behind him.

THUD—!

A colossal force slammed into the asylum’s reinforced iron door—built to contain patients. It warped instantly. The room shuddered. Cracks spiderwebbed across walls; debris rained from the ceiling.

Feeling like he was in an earthquake, Dr. Chen was thrown forward by the blast wave—and collided straight into the ghost doctor.

“My wife’s something else, huh?” The ghostly face inches away sparked no fear in Dr. Chen. If anything, a flicker of familiarity. *If only Crimson Robe were this gentle…*

Wishful thinking. After another thunderous CRASH, the mangled hundred-pound door was wadded into a ball by black strands of hair and hurled inward.

“Yikes!” Dr. Chen dodged sideways just in time. A violent gust whistled past—but the shockwave still sent him flying, slamming him hard against the wall.

The ghost doctor was a split second too slow. The iron ball crushed through his left chest, vanishing it completely. A perfect circular hole gaped in his torso, yet his body stood dumbly. His needle-like pupils dilated to the max the moment they locked onto Crimson Robe.

A crimson figure stepped slowly through the doorway, head bowed. Jet-black hair, flowing like a waterfall, rapidly lengthened, spilling across the floor and slithering toward Dr. Chen.

“Wife, calm down!”

Trapped in the corner, Dr. Chen felt his insides churn. Blood trickled from his lip, but terror numbed the pain. His mind raced—*How do I survive?*

His eyes caught the ghost doctor edging quietly toward the exit.

“Hey, mister! I’m totally into you! Gonna marry you and take you home! Don’t go!”

The ghost doctor, nearly past Crimson Robe, froze mid-step, utterly dumbfounded. Crimson Robe herself went rigid with shock.

“AAAAAHHHH—!”

A soul-shattering scream tore through the asylum. The entire building trembled. Inside, black strands whipped like blades, slicing everything in their path.

Silence fell.

But this was only the beginning of true terror.

Creak… creak…

Crimson Robe twisted her neck, bones grinding. Slowly, she turned. From tear-streaked, bloodshot sockets, crimson light flared—and locked onto the ghost doctor.

“I… I’m not… I didn’t…”

What little sanity remained flooded him with ancient fear. He tried to run—but his legs were tightly bound by her black hair, immobilized.

“You… will… not… take… him…”

The room plunged into icy cold, thick with hatred. Her voice pierced Dr. Chen’s bones. He shuddered, watching breathlessly as Crimson Robe pressed her palm slowly against the ghost doctor’s skull.

“NOOOO—!”

With one final, defiant shriek, the ghost doctor—who’d been on screen less than three minutes—had his head exploded by Dr. Chen’s wife.

*Gulp…*

Swallowing hard, Dr. Chen pressed flat against the wall, nowhere left to run. *Is today the day I die?*
