Chapter 17: A Token of Appreciation

The walk wasn’t long, nor was the wait. But the subway ride felt a little too drawn out.

Subways were crowded. Speak too softly—you’d go unheard. Too loudly—you’d bother others. So everyone fell silent, waiting quietly for the stop.

In that hush, Qin Xin finally gathered her thoughts.

*Whether Senior Bai Ningning knows or not… just act normal. Probe gently later if needed.*

“We’re here.”

Bai Ningning led them to Xi City’s busiest commercial district. Not a weekend, so the crowd was manageable. After exiting the station and crossing two red-light intersections, they reached the mall plaza.

“Want to start shopping now,” Bai Ningning paused, glancing at her juniors, “or take a break first?”

“Let’s rest.”

“Rest sounds good.”

“No rush—rest up first.”

All the juniors agreed… and all stared at the same spot. Not tired—just glued to the cold drink shop.

*It was hot, after all.*

Qin Xin composed herself to join the chat—when Lan Lan chirped:

“Xiao Yi, I heard you topped that campus beauty list! Impressive!”

“It’s the *‘Lolita Complex Ranking’*,” Xiao Yi twitched the corner of her mouth. “Please, don’t mention it.”

“Actually,” A Jin added with a grin, “the *real* number one is Senior Bai—topping *both* looks and figure charts.”

Qin Xin quietly stepped back again.

*No help for it… those words dragged last night’s memories right back.*

“Speaking of which,” A Jin mused, “Senior Bai’s figure is amazing. Same age as us, yet… so much more developed.”

Xiao Yi, the petite one, nodded earnestly. “Senior, you’re *so* generously endowed… any tips?”

Bai Ningning’s calm gaze swept over her. She walked to the counter, ordered a cup of papaya milk, and handed it over.

“Drink up. On me.”

Xiao Yi: “….”

Bai Ningning shrugged her shoulders—*That’s all I can do.*

Those two “big pillows,” those “fully integrated, unstoppable” assets? Innate… or rather, reborn. They’d been there since her reincarnation.

After the refreshing drink, spirits lifted. Shopping officially began.

Leading juniors through stores, watching them pick items, Bai Ningning realized: girls *wanted*—or *felt* they needed—so much.

She’d gotten a red envelope, sure… but barely over a thousand yuan. Needed for school meals. Couldn’t spend recklessly.

After a while, juniors carried multiple bags. Bai Ningning’s hands stayed empty.

“Senior Bai,” A Jin asked, “aren’t you buying anything?”

“Hmm. Nothing needed.”

Lan Lan approached. “How about clothes? What you’re wearing… looks like yesterday’s.”

Bai Ningning froze slightly.

*Oops. Careless. Forgot to change.*

Truth was, wearable options were few. Most skirts? Too short. Avoiding wardrobe malfunctions meant mastering posture first.

Until then—pants. Well… hot pants.

“My clothes just dried today,” she replied offhandedly.

*Hot pants are still pants. Pants feel safer than skirts. And hey—they count. Should trigger “Armor Proficiency.”*

“So… not buying?”

“No.” She added after a beat: “Not lacking.”

*(Clothes? No. Cash? Yes.)*

Reaching the next commercial zone, juniors scattered to shop. Bai Ningning rested on a bench.

She looked up. A pair of long legs stood before her.

“Qin Xin? Not shopping?”

“Nothing needed.” Qin Xin set down two small bags. “Got everything.”

*She genuinely lacked nothing—items or money.*

“Alright, rest then.” Bai Ningning patted the seat. “By the way—dorm curfew?”

Qin Xin sat beside her. “11 PM. Same for all dorms. Senior Ningning… you don’t live on campus?”

“Mm. Day student.”

“Me too,” Qin Xin brightened. “Just need to process the paperwork.”

Bai Ningning perked up. “Need help? I’ve handled day-student procedures before.”

*(Truth: she hadn’t. Neither had the original owner—Qin Yue did it all. But four years at school gave her *some* clue.)*

“Great!” Qin Xin smiled. “Thank you, Senior Ningning.”

“Mm. You’re welcome.”

*Who could refuse helping a pretty, long-legged junior? Especially with good reviews on the line.*

“Senior!”

“Senior~!”

“Senior Bai~!”

All three juniors returned, calling in unison.

Bai Ningning blinked. “What’s up?”

“We pooled our thanks,” A Jin grinned mysteriously, “and decided: one gift each. A piece of clothing.”

“No—it’s too much,” Bai Ningning waved gently. “Your thought is enough.”

*Women’s clothes here cost a fortune. Can’t accept this.*

“Not what you think! Cheap! Just come see!”

Lan Lan and A Jin linked her arms; Xiao Yi led the way into a corner boutique.

A cheerful sales assistant greeted them: “Welcome! We have—”

“No details needed!” Xiao Yi waved her petite hand. “Get our senior something top-tier, *proud*—worthy of her level!”

“Three sets,” Lan Lan added. “One from each of us.”

Qin Xin hurried in. “Four. I’m giving one too.”

Bai Ningning looked up. Her eyelid twitched.

The sign read: *Women’s Premium Lingerie*.

“Clothes aren’t urgent, Senior Bai,” A Jin giggled, “but underwear needs regular updates! Hygiene aside… you’ve gotta keep your *‘version’* current.”

Bai Ningning’s lips parted slightly. “I…”

“We know you’re not lacking,” Lan Lan pressed gently, “but it’s from the heart. You won’t refuse… right?”

“But…”

Xiao Yi stepped forward, addressing the assistant firmly: “Stop hesitating! Four sets for our senior—and make them the *proudest* ones!”

The assistant studied Bai Ningning. Her expression turned… thoughtful.

*Well… those “big pillows” really were quite “proud.”*
