Chapter 16: Perfectly Understandable

Qin Xin sat on her dorm bed, feeling a bit numb.

Her three roommates huddled together, phones in hand, scrolling the school forum and buzzing over the same topic—

“Turns out our school has *so* many campus beauty rankings.”

“Only three have real traction—well, two. The Fairy List prioritizes looks. The Succubus List favors figure scores.”

Qin Xin rolled her eyes slightly. *What ridiculous names.*

One roommate tilted her head. “What about the third? Why’s it not counted?”

“The Loli List. Ranked by loli enthusiasts—cuteness and petite size only. Good curves? Points deducted.”

“…Yeah, fair enough to exclude it.”

“Anyway,” another roommate beamed, “Qin Xin from our dorm ranks top three on *both* major lists. So impressive!”

“Obviously! She’s gorgeous—it’s only natural.”

*Please, stop… just stop,* Qin Xin begged silently.

*Flashforward: family gathering. Glasses raised for Qin Yue’s achievements. Then all eyes swing to her.*

“Congrats to Second Miss Qin—top three in looks *and* figure!”

“Dual titles: Fairy *and* Succubus!”

“Nailed it!”

She wanted to vanish.

After minutes of chatter met with silence, a roommate called out, “Qin Xin, won’t you peek?”

“No.”

“Not even the lists featuring *you*?”

“Not interested,” Qin Xin said flatly. “And honestly—why obsess over these rankings? Do you like girls or something?”

Roommate shook her head. “It’s not about liking. Beautiful girls exist. Of course we enjoy looking.”

“Totally! So fun, makes you drool.”

“I could scroll these all night.”

“Fine. Enjoy yourselves.” Qin Xin lay back, eyes closed. “I’m out.”

Just as voices softened, someone gasped.

“Whoa—check this! I missed it earlier.”

“Dual-list #1? Saw it ages ago.”

“This senior’s insane—topped *both* Fairy and Succubus Lists!”

“No wonder. Look at that face. That figure.”

“Who is she?”

“Name’s right there: sophomore Bai Ningning.”

Qin Xin’s eyes snapped open.

“What is it?” She turned toward them. “Send me the link.”

Roommate blinked. “But you said you weren’t—”

“*Now* I am.”

“…”

Link opened. There she was—Senior Bai Ningning. Dozens of casual photos from freshman year.

Topped Fairy and Succubus Lists. Ranked third on Loli List *even after* figure deductions.

*So many photos… every season, every outfit.*

Qin Xin scrolled deeper, tuning out her roommates completely—unaware dusk fell, lights clicked on.

The long night stretched on.

The early bird gets the worm. But Bai Ningning rising early found no one to keep her company.

Unless Big Sister woke early too.

After days of exhaustion, Qin Yue wouldn’t waste a chance to sleep in.

So Bai Ningning gently pried Qin Yue’s arms loose, slipped from bed, tiptoed into clothes, and vanished from the room.

*Off I go, Big Sister! Off to meet the underclassmen with your red envelope!*

Plans set the day before—everyone arrived early. At the meetup spot: Xiao Yi with twin tails, Lan Lan in denim shorts, A Jin in a princess-style Lolita dress.

Bai Ningning frowned slightly, counting. One… two… three… *Missing one.*

“Where’s the other?” she murmured. “The one in black thigh-highs?”

“Senior?” Lan Lan asked.

“Nothing. Just noticed someone’s absent.”

“Qin Xin? She’s late—wait!” Lan Lan spun around, grinning. “Speak of the devil!”

Qin Xin approached slowly, letting out a soft yawn. “Sorry I’m late.”

No thigh-highs today—denim shorts, sneakers, summer tee for the outing.

Yet her tall frame made those long, straight, snow-white legs utterly striking.

Bai Ningning recalled the black thigh-highs, eyed today’s look. *Conclusion: long legs slay in anything.*

*So… I’d look decent in a skirt too?* She glanced down.

Perfect—blocked by a white pillow. Invisible.

“Qin Xin, rough night?” Lan Lan teased. “Later than *Senior*?”

Bai Ningning: “….”

*Cut it out. Empathy. Escaping Big Sister’s bed takes time.*

*Ah… the most precious thing between people? Damn understanding.*

“Yeah… didn’t sleep well,” Qin Xin murmured, glancing at Bai Ningning before looking away. “Last-minute stuff last night.”

Curious Xiao Yi blinked. “What stuff?”

Qin Xin’s cheeks flushed. “Nothing, just—”

“No need to explain.” Bai Ningning patted her shoulder, voice calm. “I understand.”

*Didn’t I just say it? The most precious thing is damn understanding.*

*No matter what someone got up to last night—don’t pry. Just type “understanding” in the chat.*

But Qin Xin froze.

*Understandable?!*

If *anyone else* said it… but *Senior Bai Ningning*. That placid gaze. Cool tone. Zero joking vibe.

*How could she know? Roommate snitched?*

“Senior~ where to first?”

“Subway. Decide en route.”

“Yesss! We’re glued to you today!”

“Senior Bai, does Xicheng have that boutique?”

“Yes. We’ll go.”

“So aloof… but so reliable.”

The three chattered brightly beside Bai Ningning. Only Qin Xin trailed behind, expression shifting like storm clouds.

*Does she know? What exactly does “I understand” mean?*

*If she knows… was it a hint?*

*So… does she know or not?*
