"Well! Ye-ye, wanna hear? Come on, where d'you wanna start?" Nan Ling said playfully.
"Huh? How about why humans see you as monsters? I don’t sense any danger from you—even blood-drinking doesn’t really affect us," Lin Ye said, brimming with curiosity.
Hearing this, Nan Ling’s expression turned dead serious. Gone was the giggly beauty from moments ago. After a pause, she said, "Because traitors emerged in our clan."
"Traitors? You mean Bloodline members slaughtering humans?" Lin Ye muttered aloud.
"Mm! Half right," Nan Ling replied.
"Half? Do you mean..." Lin Ye gasped, stunned.
"Exactly. Those Bloodline beasts drink human blood—and devour their own kind raw! Disgusting monsters!" Nan Ling snarled, teeth gritted in fury.
"This..." Lin Ye choked out, genuinely nauseated. It felt like cannibalism. He’d never imagined such vile evil existed.
"Nan... Ling-ling, don’t worry. I’ll kill every one of those scum I find," Lin Ye vowed firmly. Letting them live would make him less than human.
"Well! Your heart’s in the right place! But I don’t want you fighting them. Stay far away," Nan Ling said, grateful yet anxious.
"Why? Are they that strong?" Lin Ye asked doubtfully.
"Very. They eat kin raw to boost magic power. Fewer than a few hundred, yet each has Magic Ancestor strength or higher," Nan Ling explained.
"No problem. I’ll wipe them out someday—guaranteed!" Lin Ye declared, unwavering. His eyes burned with resolve.
"Then I’ll believe in you, my little Ye-ye!" Nan Ling beamed at him. Worthy of her love—and with the Sacred Eye, he could do it.
"What’re they called? Who leads them?" Lin Ye pressed.
"They’re the Luo Ji Clan. We peace-lovers are the Nan Jun Clan. Their leader? Luo Ji Lin Ni Lai. He’s slain Bloodline generals equal to Magic Emperors! Humans accept us now only because of past efforts," Nan Ling said.
"Details!" Lin Ye urged eagerly.
"Five hundred years ago, Luo Ji Lin Ni Lai led five thousand Bloodline rebels. They attacked all races blindly. Nan Jun Clan was first hit—devastated. We begged the United Nations and Hundred Clans Alliance for help. The Luo Ji Clan burned, killed, looted—pure evil. Seeing this, the allies sent troops. Dozens of Magic Emperors mobilized. Our Nan Jun Clan’s Magic Emperor leader charged first, mowing down foes! But Luo Ji Lin Ni Lai killed him brutally. In the end, we lost three Magic Emperors, over ten Magic Monarchs, dozens of Magic Ancestors. We crushed the Luo Ji Clan to mere dozens, cornered them in Red Lin Valley, and stationed six Magic Emperors to guard it. Yet people grew to hate all Bloodline deeply," Nan Ling recounted.
"Tragic history. Why’s it missing from modern books?" Lin Ye questioned.
"High-ups back then hated Bloodline. They erased it from records," Nan Ling said regretfully.
Lin Ye and Nan Ling chatted back and forth. An hour slipped by unnoticed. A new goal hardened in Lin Ye’s heart: crush the Luo Ji Clan and clear the Nan Jun Clan’s name.
