The maid Little Green didn’t react right away.

A slight frown creased her brow—doubt flickering over her bold guess.

“Huh? Brother Qin? Where is he?”

“Brother Qin?”

After a few seconds, Little Green finally turned around, spinning in place and scanning the area.

Her large, bright eyes sparkled with excitement. Finding no one, she pouted her lips and shot an indignant look at Liu Xiyun.

“You tricked me! Where’s Brother Qin? I didn’t see a single trace of him!”

“Ugh! Brother Qin’s such a bad guy! He left me all alone, vanished again without a word! Bad guy! Bad guy! Bad guy!”

Stomping her feet repeatedly, she embodied the very picture of a wronged, pouting little maid.

Where was even a hint of *that guy’s* usual demeanor?

“Guess I overthought it,” Liu Xiyun murmured with a wry shake of her head.

How could she have mistaken Little Green for Qin Ling?

That guy could never act like this—and he was male.

Even with perfect disguise, a chest rivaling her own, skin smooth and delicate, a slender graceful frame, glossy black hair… no man could fake it this thoroughly.

*Heh. Unless he was a woman all along.*

But was that possible?

No way.

Liu Xiyun trusted her judgment.

It was obvious—anyone could see it.

*BOOM! BOOM!*

*BANG!*

In the cavern’s heart, the werewolf—imbued with Anubis’s Divine Gene sequence—clashed fiercely with the female vampire possessed by Cain’s demonic gene, progenitor of vampires.

The bird-headed scepter in the werewolf’s grasp shattered under her fangs, dissolving into golden sparks. Only then did Liu Xiyun realize: it was an illusion, not a true divine artifact.

Undeterred, the werewolf struck back—the moment the Anubis scepter broke, his claws pierced straight through her bat-like wing.

*RIIIIP!*

He seized the bone, yanked upward hard, and tore the wing clean off.

“Aaah!” The vampire shrieked, releasing his shoulders and stumbling back.

Fresh blood streamed from the shoulder wound.

The dense blood mist around them began fading fast.

Victory seemed sealed.

*Splash… gurgle…*

But at that exact moment—

A splashing sound erupted from the battlefield.

Blood gushed wildly from the vampire’s wound, violently replenishing the thinning mist.

Her face drained deathly pale. Plump cheeks withered.

Within moments, her living body desiccated like dry timber—sunken eyes, limbs clinging to bone, resembling an ancient crone on death’s doorstep.

“What’s happening to her?” Liu Xiyun gasped at the horrifying shift.

Little Green snapped out of her daze, shrugged. “Backlash.”

“A half-baked product stays half-baked. How could it stand against a complete Divine Clan gene?”

“Even perfected, Cain—the vampire progenitor—can’t match Anubis, Egypt’s god of death.”

“I see,” Liu Xiyun nodded. Her gaze toward Little Green held no trace of condescension now.

Though the maid sometimes played the clueless girl, that quiet composure she radiated brought inexplicable calm. No one could mistake her for foolish.

*Maybe she picked it up from sticking with Qin Ling too long?* Liu Xiyun mused.

“Uwaaah! Die! Die! You all must die! DIE!”

The vampire trembled. Blood mist swelled again—thicker than before, swallowing the entire cavern in an instant.

*Sssizzle…*

Corrosive. Vision blurred.

Liu Xiyun tensed. The werewolf stood guard.

*CRASH!*

*BANG!*

A deafening roar split the azure, wave-rippling dome above.

All eyes shot upward—even the desperate vampire.

The cavern ceiling shattered. Stone chunks rained down.

A figure leaped nimbly across the falling debris, darting through the dozens-of-meters-high space.

“So there *is* another world down here!”

“Huh? So much blood mist? Qin Ling! Qin Ling! Where’d you vanish to, you rascal? If you’re here—make a sound!”

A familiar voice echoed from the leaping silhouette.

Emotions flared across the room: fury, hatred, gratitude, shock, speechlessness.

“He’s not here!”

A clear, unfamiliar voice cut through. Pang Cheng, just climbing from the fountain pool, turned.

A maid in light cyan robes shouted at him. He frowned.

“Who are you, girl? How do you know he’s not here?”

“He said so!”
