Chapter 12: I, a High School Student

Alex turned on the large screen in the conference room. The image startled everyone.

Six massive flying dragons frantically spewed fireballs. At the mountain’s base stretched countless dinosaur armies… led by that tribe’s tiny old chieftain.

“Lia, what’s happening?” Tran turned to her. The island’s natives were clearly her clanspeople.

But Lia only shook her head dazedly.

“Our secret’s out. I’ll negotiate with them,” Alex said. “Good thing I taught them knowledge before. Otherwise, I’d be clueless.” He walked out.

“Let’s go too, Lia,” Tran said.

“Hmm…”

Outside, they saw Alex clamped in a T-Rex’s jaws. His petrified body felt no pain. He gripped the dragon’s head—it slowly turned to stone. Sadly, only one square meter petrified. Nothing to the massive beast…

Alex’s action enraged the T-Rex. It shook its huge head, slamming into his stone form.

Though Alex’s Superpower made him incredibly hard, he couldn’t match a T-Rex that spent days ramming trees for fun.

In two seconds, Alex went from confident to shocked to flung away—crashing into the mountainside.

Seeing their boss down, his subordinates attacked the charging dinosaurs despite fear. Most had C Rank Superpowers—the world’s most common level. Some were only D Rank; no E Rank at all. Only the former boss and his lackey were B Rank. Such weak power got them overwhelmed by four or five dinosaurs instantly.

“This is brutal, Lia. Let’s fall back—it’s too dangerous,” Tran said, pulling her arm. But Lia pulled free.

“Thank you, Brother Tran, but no. They won’t hurt me,” she said with a faint smile.

Before Tran could ask, Lia walked toward the dinosaurs. They instantly calmed, lowering their heads like subjects before their king!

“Has this girl awakened the inheritance too?” Alex moved beside Tran. “Records from two hundred years ago mention locals controlling destructive creatures with Superpowers. They inherit ancestral missions… If I recall, hers is finding a new colonization planet…”

“So Lia’s dangerous?” Tran asked.

“Yes—she’ll destroy humanity,” Alex said, pulling out his communicator to call Observatory HQ.

“No—I mean, will all humanity target her? That’s dangerous,” Tran pressed. Why did this handsome guy always misunderstand?

Alex fell silent… This traitor was siding with outsiders.

“Lia! Will you destroy Earth?” Tran ignored Alex, turning to her.

“Brother Tran, I’m sorry. I never expected my mission…” Lia started, but the old chieftain cut her off.

“Hmph, Lia—no apologies to these inferior beings! They’ve imprisoned us here for nearly a century!” he roared.

Observatory members gasped. Discovered a hundred years ago?

“Don’t think you can stop us from leaving. Ninety years ago, one survivor used his Superpower. Mine is Telepathic Communication—I contact anyone bearing my mark, no matter the distance.” The old man’s face darkened. “After a century, he’s your high-ranking official now. Hahaha! We bred countless elite dragon descendants, waiting for a controller. Today, tens of thousands are enough!”

“Unbelievable! They endured so long… and found a controller-type Superpower user!” Alex gritted his teeth. He knew what tens of thousands of A Rank creatures meant. Mutated dinosaurs reached SS Rank. Such power could annihilate the world.

“Brother Tran, I just awakened it near you. I felt so peaceful… then memories flooded my head,” Lia murmured, head down.

“I contacted Grandpa. He told the truth. I’m sorry…” Her eyes reddened. She adored this new big brother and hated deceiving him.

“Can’t you invade another planet? My friends and family are here,” Tran said. Honestly, Earth didn’t matter—he’d move. But his parents, friends, and most crucially, his sister’s grave… That was his bottom line.

Lia hesitated… Then the old man placed his hand on her head.

Her eyes went blank, lifeless like a doll.

“Consciousness Replacement? He hid this ability?” Alex paled. “We’ve lost negotiation chances.”

“What?” Tran asked, noticing Lia’s change.

“Their race produces dual-Superpower users. This centenarian hid well. His power replaces consciousness—I don’t know the conditions, but it worked.” Alex pointed at the roaring horde.

The dragons charged. Tran felt his Superpower—the gray substance had fully fused with his body. No activation needed. He could unleash World Annihilation anytime.

He leaped onto a Velociraptor. It spun wildly to throw him off. Tran wasn’t that weak—he swung his staff, knocking it flat.

“Boy, you carry my tribe’s aura. Who are you?” the chieftain shouted.

“I’m Tran…” he dodged dragon attacks.

“I asked your identity!”

“Uh… high school student? My student ID says so.” Tran reached for it, then remembered—his things were on the plane.

“What’s that?” the old man frowned, confused.

While he spoke, Tran plunged into the horde. Power surged through him—he’d missed this, yet hated it. His past strength had hurt loved ones… But now, survival came first. He’d beat that old man later.

These dinosaurs were elite from a century of breeding. Tens of thousands existed, but only four or five could fight Tran—simply because he was tiny. Size-wise.

Dragons charged and bit. Tran’s trench coat tore in places. Except the first raptor, all were huge. His staff seemed pitifully small.

He recalled Fili’s gift… If only it were bigger now! When you need a staff most, you regret its shortness!

Tran poured on power, carving a path straight to Lia and the old man…
