A shadow shot out of the room, slamming hard into the wall and leaving a deep dent. Up close, it was the man in the black trench coat and sunglasses from earlier. His shades were shattered now, and his nose was slightly crooked...
"Meow my ass! Look closer! I'm a guy!" Tran roared next, bursting out with his long hair flowing.
Hearing that arrogant man's words, Tran wasn't just angry—any real man would hate being mistaken for a woman. So he swung his staff straight into the guy's face...
Truth was, he'd also been annoyed by how flashy the man looked. Under dozens of staring eyes, Tran stripped the trench coat off the flying man and put it on himself, without a blush or a hint of shame.
"Oh, a hat too? Nice, nice. Looks sharp!" Tran grinned, thrilled with his new outfit.
But others saw it differently. Even though their boss had been sent flying, this "girl" looked strikingly dashing in the coat. Was she truly a heroine who outshone any man?
"Brother Tran looks so charming!" Lia gasped in surprise. This brother was even prettier than her sister—was he really a man?
Tran didn't care. He laughed heartily... No one had ever called him charming before!
"Uh... cough... young man, my mistake. Keep the coat as compensation—it's designer." Alex slowly rose, wiping blood from his face. He'd felt death's chill just moments ago. An A-rank Superpower user at 25, he'd mastered his strength. Yet that ordinary staff swing had left him utterly defenseless...
"I'm the head administrator here at the Observatory. Name's Alex." He extended his right hand.
Seeing Alex's politeness, Tran naturally shook it back.
But instantly, his right hand turned to stone. The petrification spread up his arm...
Alex leaped back. Earth-type Superpower users reacted fast, pinning Tran's feet to the ground.
"Sorry, kid. My ability is [Absolute Petrification]. I can stone anything I touch—and control how deep it goes." Alex smirked at Tran. "So, who are you really? And how did you get here?"
"You should've asked sooner. I'm Tran. How I got here? I was on a hijacked plane that blew up... You buying that?" Tran winked.
"Hah! Think I'm stupid? No one survives a plane crash! Take him—and that girl too. I'll interrogate them separately. If these natives reach the outside world, it'll be chaos." Alex signaled his men.
"Ah! Don't come near!" Lia cried as soldiers approached. She scrambled closer to Tran.
"Hey! Take me, but leave Lia out of this!" Tran frowned.
"Sorry. For the greater good, you both must come." Alex turned away, striding off with a cool swagger.
"Hey! Don't walk off!" Tran shouted.
Alex ignored him...
Then a hand landed on his right shoulder. He turned to see a young, tender hand. "Who is it? What do you want?" he asked, puzzled.
"Your ears broken?" Tran's voice cut in. Alex spun around—Tran's right hand gripped his shoulder...
"You... you..." Alex stammered, stunned. He glanced at the soldiers near Lia. All lay dead on the floor...
"I think... we can still talk..." Alex was truly cornered. He wasn't weak, but against Tran, he felt no will to fight. This had to be a super-elite from some major organization—even if something felt off...
"Told you earlier! I'm starving. Can we chat over food? Cops feed prisoners during interrogations!" Tran declared like a boss, zero prisoner vibes.
"Fine, fine. This way..." Alex gave in.
Tran pulled Lia along as they followed Alex to a huge conference hall. They sat on sofas while servants brought out lavish dishes... Alex dared not poison them—if this boy shrugged off toxins, he was doomed.
"What a relief! Finally a proper meal..." Tran dug in like he hadn't eaten for weeks. Seeing his ease, Lia relaxed and ate freely too.
An hour later...
"Ahhh! That hit the spot! Though not as good as dragon eggs..."
"Huh?" Alex and Lia stared, shocked.
"Hm? What's wrong?" Tran looked at them oddly.
"Young brother Tran, you might not know—the dinosaurs here came from a meteorite. Five hundred years ago, a massive one fell. Then destructive creatures appeared..." Alex explained.
"So... these dinosaurs?" Tran picked a toothpick, eyes skeptical.
"Yes. They were immensely powerful. Nations united to exile them here. It's all classified. Don't you know this?" Alex suspected Tran was a spy.
"Nope..." Tran replied bluntly.
"...Alright." Alex still doubted him.
"Why are you so shocked I ate the eggs?"
"Brother, those eggs kill. People tried before—their bodies failed within three days." Lia spoke softly. Growing up here, she knew dinosaur eggs were deadlier than poison.
"Huh? I thought they tasted great. Felt refreshed after eating them..." Tran mused blankly, savoring the memory.
...
...
An awkward silence hung heavy.
"Young brother Tran, if convenient—what's your real purpose here? If you're after secrets... I couldn't stop you anyway." Alex finally asked. After Tran's earlier moves, he knew he'd lose a fight.
"I said it—I fell from a plane! I don't care about your secrets. I need to report to school. Can you send me out?" Tran pressed.
"Uh... truly not interested in our secrets?" Alex asked again.
"You're so annoying!" Tran slammed the table, standing up. "Just tell me if you can get me to school!"
Alex sighed in relief. He'd feared a hidden plot.
"Then come with me tomorrow. I'm from outside too. This Observatory was built centuries ago by many nations. I'm here inspecting." Alex explained.
"Brother, you're leaving? Can you take me?" Lia asked sadly.
Tran felt a pang too. He wanted to show this new sister a wider world.
"No! Young brother, it's sensitive—the natives here... came from that meteorite too." Alex leaned close, voice low. "Their abilities surpass ours. Some even awaken Superpowers naturally! We brainwash them young, telling them it's a divine gift..."
"That's a cult..." Tran muttered, missing the point.
"We've researched destroying these aliens... no progress. Nukes were tried before—created mutants..."
"Studies show natives can awaken Superpowers to control dinosaurs. We've suppressed that. Now they only have ordinary abilities."
"But some dinosaurs awaken Superpowers too... even spitting fireballs!" Alex whispered mysteriously.
"BOOM!" A deafening blast shook the building. The ground trembled violently.
"Sir! Disaster! Six fire-breathing wyverns are attacking the base!" The earlier "boss" man sprinted in, panicked.
