Chapter 10: Homecoming

The next second, my chance of avoiding intimate contact with the ground hit absolute zero… No last-minute savior appeared. Naturally, I slammed straight into the pavement.

“Oh dear~ Sunny, don’t roughhouse in other people’s shops! You’ll scare the customers away!” A woman’s voice cut through the haze.

Why could I only hear her? Because Sunny Su was sitting squarely on my back, pinning my joints so I couldn’t move. Sure, my superpower could’ve solved this in seconds—but right now, I was still in an alcohol-polluted state… Most abilities were unusable.

“Sunny… Someone’s here! Change back already!!!”

For some reason, Sunny acted completely different around others than when we were alone.

Instead of transforming, she wrenched my joints harder. “What’s wrong? Going easy on me today? Normally you’d flip me over in a heartbeat. If you’re holding back, I’ll make sure you *really* enjoy this!”

“Sunny! There are other customers!” The woman’s voice turned urgent.

Sunny sprang off me and yanked me upright by the arm.

“Li Ze, are you okay? Hurt anywhere?” She sounded concerned—but only she knew what she truly thought.

The woman’s laughter suddenly rang out. “Hahaha… Don’t worry, Sunny, no one’s here! This must be your boyfriend? Must be tough dealing with a girlfriend like her, huh?”

Only then did I recognize her—the shop owner I’d glimpsed earlier. Boyfriend? Impossible. There’s no way Sunny liked me…

“N-no way! He’s just… just… just a totally ordinary… good friend!”

*Okay, scratch what I just thought.* That flustered, stuttering side she only showed to a rare few… Her favorability toward me had to be over 80%!

*Wait… why would a violent girl like her even like me? I don’t recall doing anything to raise her favorability.*

*Hmm… judging by current favorability levels, nothing will happen if no one speaks up… Honestly, I’m not looking for a girlfriend right now. Better avoid people with inexplicably high favorability toward me.*

I silently made my decision. With Sunny’s help, I finally bought the underwear. *Ugh… guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to execute my plan. Buying underwear is just… not my strength.*

After Sunny *insisted* I escort her home, I finally boarded the train back. Staring blankly at the purple-red glow in the western sky, I yawned.

*Ugh… I still haven’t sorted out school. All Sunny’s fault. Today was exhausting.*

*Ding-dong—Attention passengers: H-Residential Zone has arrived.*

Yawning, I stepped off the train. First stop: the convenience store near home. Snacks. Ingredients. Only then did I head back.

Streetlights flickered on. Pedestrians thinned. Gazing at the distant glow, I sighed.

*I’m really late today. I wonder how Yuxuan spent the afternoon… Hope nothing went wrong.*

My steps quickened.
