Chapter 8: Strolling

Though I wasn't quite sure what Sunny Su was thinking, she still came out shopping with me... Wait, was that tsundere just now?

Anyway, I'm a Superpower user with professional ethics—I don't randomly read minds. So honestly, I had no clue what she was feeling.

We strolled down the shopping street, drawing all sorts of weird stares. Why weird? I could feel murderous intent in their eyes—they practically wanted to burn me at the stake.

I ignored the passersby. I'd only meant to buy a few clothes... but Sunny Su kept darting around everywhere. Of course, I let her drag me along.

"Li Ze, hurry up! Stop spacing out. This is delicious~ Come try some!"

I shot Sunny Su an annoyed look. "Hey, Class Monitor, you're spending my money to treat me. Doesn't that move you at all?"

Sunny Su took another bite, tilting her head at me. "Is that strange?"

"Isn't it?!"

She set her snack on a public bench and declared righteously: "First, when boys and girls shop together, doesn't the guy usually pay?"

"Aren't we equal? Why should guys pay? I object!" I shot back.

Sunny Su wagged her finger. "Second, didn't you owe me a meal from the opening ceremony? This settles it. Fair?"

"Uh... I'm speechless." I'd totally forgotten that—she actually remembered...

Sunny Su picked up her snack again, savoring it with relish.

Just then, I spotted someone approaching nearby. Hmm... probably a classmate.

"Sunny Su, look who that is."

When she heard me say her name, the snack froze halfway to her mouth.

"W-wh-why did you suddenly call me that?" A faint blush spread across her face.

"Nothing much. Calling you 'Class Monitor' all the time feels weird. Hey, Sunny Su—you okay? Why's your face so red?"

Sunny Su stepped back abruptly, then looked up and saw him.

"Classmate Hao Yikai... what are you doing here?"

Her expression snapped back to normal as she walked over.

"Oh, Class Monitor! My place is nearby. Bored during National Day break, so I came out for a walk."

"Not traveling, Classmate Hao?"

"Hmm... no plans. Too many tourists lately—I'll wait for winter break. What about you, Class Monitor?"

Sunny Su pointed to her small bag. "Buying books. Heading to the bookstore now."

Hao Yikai nodded. "Need company?"

She shook her head. "No thanks. Vice Monitor Li Ze is with me. We're contributing to the class book corner~"

Listening to them, I nearly burst out laughing. I knew Sunny Su acted one way in public and another in private—but her lies sounded so genuine.

Well~ no more waiting. At this rate, we'd never finish today...

I stood up and walked over.

"Hi~ Classmate Hao!"

"Vice Monitor! Didn't see you there." Hao Yikai scratched his head.

"Also, Class Monitor—we should get to work. It's getting late."

Sunny Su waved. "Bye, Classmate Hao~"

"Bye, Class Monitor~ Keep up the good work!"

"Thanks!"
