Blood sensed a trace of danger. The newcomer was no weakling—she was even slightly stronger than Blood. Blood put away her flirtatious expression, slit open her palm, and condensed the flowing Blood into a long Spear.
After pressing the emergency button, the old woman hurried behind the cultivation chamber. She knew magic, but before Blood and Night Frost, her strength probably didn’t even qualify her as cannon fodder. Running was the wiser choice.
When Night Frost saw the old woman trying to slip away, she sent out a streak of flame and trapped her inside. Anyone who could operate the instruments here so skillfully had to be a senior researcher—or perhaps the person in charge. Night Frost couldn’t let her escape.
At the same time, Night Frost tossed the Eye Orb beside the instruments. The Eye Orb had overheard Blood and the old woman’s conversation. Rage simmered inside him.
Those people had destroyed Aklatia and killed the boss he respected, all for their own selfish desires.
He intended to transfer all data related to Aklatia, then destroy every experimental achievement they were so proud of!
The pitch-black Spear collided with the scarlet Blood Spear. In an instant, the Blood coating the Spear was dried away by the Black Flame.
In their first exchange, Blood had fallen behind.
“This woman is strong. She may have already touched the Ultimate Realm… But there’s no divine aura coming from her.”
Blood dispersed the Spear and transformed it into a Blood Scythe. Countless lives seemed to wail from its blade.
She swung the Scythe, whipping up a scarlet storm that swept toward her opponent. Yet the pitch-black Spear was like a black hole. Its Black Flame devoured the entire Bloodstorm without leaving the slightest trace.
“Release the seal!”
Under the laboratory lights, Night Frost’s hands flashed with a cold gleam. Her skin was covered in a layer of pitch-black dragon scales.
She closed the distance at astonishing speed and seized Blood by the throat with ease.
Blood let out a desperate growl. Her body instantly turned into a hazy mist of Blood, attempting to escape Night Frost’s grasp.
But Night Frost reacted even faster.
Her hands suddenly spread wide. Crimson Gold Flame erupted from her palms, blazing fiercely as it scorched every soul in the world.
Blood had transformed into a mist, so her soul had naturally merged into it. Night Frost’s Crimson Gold Flame was powerful enough to burn that soul away completely.
“How do you know so much…?”
“If you’re asking why… I’m not really sure myself.”
Night Frost pinched the Black Flame around the Bloodmist, evaporating it. The Crimson Gold Flame seared Blood’s soul as it rose into the air.
Blood had nowhere left to run.
The moment the Black Flame touched the Bloodmist, it crackled like fat burning in a raging fire. The Bloodmist rapidly evaporated before Night Frost’s Black Flame, vanishing without a trace.
Blood felt a fear she had never known before. Beneath the radiance of the Crimson Gold Flame, her soul had nowhere to escape. It could only be devoured bit by bit.
Blood had no choice but to condense her form and fight Night Frost with her Scythe.
“You bastard!”
Blood pulled a drop of Blood from inside her clothes.
It was the Blood of a god.
Her current body couldn’t withstand even the slightest power within it. But against such a bizarre enemy, she had no choice but to fuse with the Blood ahead of time.
She shut her eyes tightly. Her hands trembled as she raised the drop of Blood and gently pressed it against her forehead.
A wordless, overwhelming power surged from the Blood into her body. Her entire body seemed filled with that force, and every cell greedily absorbed the energy.
The divine Blood placed enormous pressure on Blood’s body. Her face turned as pale as paper. Beads of sweat gathered on her forehead, slid down, and soaked her collar.
She clenched her teeth and swung the Scythe in her hand.
The aura radiating from the Scythe was razor-sharp, as if it could tear space apart. Even Night Frost was forced backward, step by step.
Night Frost stared at Blood. She could sense the power contained within the Scythe.
It was the power of a god.
Just sensing it made her want to retreat.
She had witnessed that world-ending scene before. Now, facing something related to a god again, an indescribable fear rose from the depths of her heart.
Her heart pounded violently, as if it might leap out of her chest.
“That’s only a part of it!”
Night Frost spread the dragon wings behind her. In an instant, Black Flame filled the entire laboratory chamber.
The Black Flame’s heat forced Blood into a corner, while the Scythe infused with divine Blood began to evaporate slowly.
“This Black Flame… You’re the Calamity Dragon! No, the Calamity Dragon is already dead…”
The test site behind Night Frost split apart, cracks spreading across it. Under the corrosion of the Black Flame, the laboratory chamber shattered.
Inside, the pure-white girl sensed the commotion outside and slowly opened her eyes.
“Forced activation. Awaiting command execution.”
“Expel the enemy!”
Blood’s eyes widened when she saw hope.
The girl’s gaze swept across the flames before settling on Night Frost in midair. She stepped barefoot onto the broken glass scattered across the floor, seemingly unable to feel any pain.
Night Frost didn’t want to hurt her, so she drew back some of the Black Flame around the pure-white girl.
But the girl reached out and touched the Black Flame.
In an instant, it wrapped around her pale skin.
The girl shook her arm in confusion, only to find that the Black Flame wouldn’t go out no matter what she did.
“Fire is forbidden here.”
Night Frost’s Black Flame was bound by an invisible force in an instant.
At the same time, countless copies of Order exploded inside the storage room behind the girl. Blood seeped through the cracks in the door. Every drop seemed to represent a life losing its vitality.
“This is straight-up cheating!”
Night Frost finally understood why the girl could use her Word Spirits without paying a price.
The copies of Order were bearing the entire cost for her.
Night Frost hadn’t known that and had stubbornly used a Word Spirit anyway. She was practically crying over how stupid she’d been.
Seeing the Order’s power suppressing Night Frost’s Black Flame, Blood swung her Scythe at Night Frost’s head.
In Blood’s eyes, Night Frost’s greatest strength was nothing more than those two flames—the Crimson Gold Flame and the Black Flame.
And now, Blood no longer feared either of them.
The sharp Scythe struck toward Night Frost’s head. But Night Frost’s head didn’t fall like a block of tofu, as Blood had expected.
Pitch-black scales crawled up Night Frost’s neck. The Scythe only left a thin cut there.
“If you were a little stronger, you might’ve been able to threaten me. But look at your body.”
Night Frost stared at Blood.
“Your body is falling apart bit by bit. You’re not far from death.”
Blood’s legs had already gone limp as mud. Without using certain means, she couldn’t even stand.
The divine Blood was corroding her, carrying her life toward its final chapter.
“Are you still going to oppose me?”
Night Frost’s gaze fell upon the pure-white girl.
The girl didn’t answer. She only stared fixedly at Night Frost, as if there were something on her body.
Since the girl didn’t understand, Night Frost had no reason to hurt her.
She raised a hand and sent Blood on her final journey.
Blood wailed inside the flames. In the end, she left behind nothing but a pile of ashes.
Crimson Blood floated before Night Frost.
The Blood seemed to carry some kind of Mana. It was extraordinarily alluring, flickering like a beautiful, flawless ruby and tempting Night Frost to swallow it.
Night Frost raised her hand and held it in her palm. Black Flame slowly burned the Blood in her grasp.
Within minutes, the drop of Blood had been completely evaporated.
“Found it!”
Moon Owl tore open space. In her hand, she held a Mental Magic Tool and a Key.
Night Frost aimed the Magic Tool at the pure-white girl’s forehead.
Ever since entering the room, Night Frost had sensed the tangled Spirit Threads around the foreheads of both the girl and the old woman. From that, she could tell they had been affected by a Mental Magic Tool.
“This must be the Mental Magic Tool from District Six… Forget it. I don’t know how to use it.”
Night Frost tossed it back to Moon Owl.
She couldn’t use the thing. Moon Owl examined it twice, then pulled two Magic Stones from her waist.
After pressing them against the Magic Tool, she raised it.
Moon Owl clearly didn’t understand it very well either. After all, the Moon Owl of this era hadn’t yet learned magic related to the mind.
But Night Frost could empower her.
They first broke through the old woman’s tangled Spirit Threads. Someone had imposed desire upon her and suppressed her former memories.
Fortunately, her strength wasn’t great. Night Frost and Moon Owl easily broke the control.
After regaining consciousness, the old woman thanked Night Frost and Moon Owl. She also told Night Frost her true name.
Her name was Jinyu Nan, and she was the director of this research institute.
Eleven years ago, she had begun working with Blood, attempting to “resurrect” Order.
Because of what happened with Kaneko, Blood sensed that Jinyu Nan intended to rebel. She had therefore used a Mental Magic Tool designed to control puppets and manipulated Jinyu Nan into committing many wrongs.
Afterward, Jinyu Nan took the initiative and removed the Spirit Threads controlling the girl.
“Mom?”
The girl spoke. She clearly knew that Jinyu Nan was the one who had created her.
Jinyu Nan pulled her into her arms, while the girl stood quietly in place.
After a long while, the girl pointed at Night Frost and spoke.
“You have a very familiar scent. Are you my big sister?”
Ever since Night Frost entered the base, the girl’s gaze had remained fixed on her.
She had sensed a familiar aura on Night Frost. It was very similar to the aura of her sisters inside the storage room, but purer.
It was even purer than Kaneko’s, who was close to becoming a finished product.
“In theory, yes. I’m also an artificial human. I possess the other half of the Magic Stone, and it isn’t a replica.”
When Jinyu Nan heard that Night Frost possessed half of the Order Gemstone, she excitedly grabbed Night Frost’s hand.
“You’re the daughter of the man entrusted with the Magic Stone eleven years ago?”
Actually, he was a son.
“You could say that…”
The Eye Orb, having finished stealing the data, rolled back to Night Frost’s side. Clearly, he had also heard what she said.
“Now that you mention it, I can see it. You do have traces of artificial-human construction in you. If you hadn’t said anything, I would’ve thought you were a normal person.”
He seemed eager to take Night Frost apart and examine her inner structure and genetic cells. Night Frost refused him.
“This takes care of Blood. Our next destination is the three towers belonging to the Seekers. We have to go there and obtain the God’s Eye.”
Facing the confused group, Night Frost shared another memory.
