“How could Illusory Glass not exist? She’s your sister!”

A trace of wariness flashed through Moon Owl’s eyes. The woman before her was raving about things she couldn’t understand. Yet her strength clearly surpassed Moon Owl’s by a level, so Moon Owl couldn’t afford to attack recklessly.

“Forget it. I’ll send you some memories through Spirit Threads.”

Night Frost extended her spirit. One Spirit Thread after another shot toward Moon Owl.

Moon Owl seemed to sense danger. She tried to tear open the space behind her and escape. But Night Frost had fought her several times and worked alongside her for months. She already had a rough idea of what Moon Owl would do next.

Night Frost took a single step and appeared behind Moon Owl in an instant. She pressed her palm firmly against Moon Owl’s shoulder.

The writhing Spirit Threads pierced into Moon Owl’s mind. Fragments of memories concerning Night Frost, Moon Owl, and Illusory Glass flowed into her consciousness.

“What is this?”

“Memories of you, me, and your sister. I used your sister’s power to return from the future. A great upheaval is going to happen.”

Moon Owl clutched her head. She clearly didn’t believe the memories Night Frost had sent her. She thought they were fake.

But Night Frost’s words had been so sincere that Moon Owl found herself caught in a dilemma.

Could the future really become like that?

Even after crossing the realm of 【Chapter Three】 and reaching the Ultimate Realm—an existence unmatched by anyone before or after—one was still so powerless before that so-called god.

“Your sister has disappeared now. Caris is nowhere to be found either. She was the vessel for Illusionary Mist’s soul, but I don’t know where she went.”

Moon Owl froze slightly when she heard the name Illusionary Mist. She turned toward Night Frost in a daze.

The memories Night Frost had transferred to her did include the scene where Illusionary Mist’s soul merged with Caris, before Illusory Glass contracted with her.

“Believe me or not, it’s up to you. I’ll bring you proof. If you want to know everything, come with me.”

Night Frost spread her dragon wings. Moon Owl followed close behind.

Night Frost slowed down a little so Moon Owl could keep up. Their destination was the temple where Yuan Dai resided.

There was a Key there that Night Frost needed. It was also the true culprit behind the calamity that had befallen the Twelfth District.

At that moment, Yuan Dai was meditating with her eyes closed. She sensed two auras slowly approaching from above.

One belonged to Moon Owl. The other faintly surpassed her own.

An enemy?

Yuan Dai opened her eyes and slowly rose. A heavy, pure-white woodcutter’s axe appeared in her hand.

Night Frost rubbed her forehead. Why did everyone keep assuming she was an enemy?

She didn’t like the feeling. So she pushed Moon Owl forward and explained their purpose to Yuan Dai.

Yuan Dai looked at Night Frost with half-belief, then shifted her gaze to Moon Owl.

Her instincts told her that everything Moon Owl had said was true.

But returning from the future?

That was absurd.

“What are you trying to do?”

Yuan Dai put away the woodcutter’s axe, though the wariness in her eyes remained.

Night Frost pointed toward the inner area of the temple, where layer upon layer of Formations guarded a certain region.

“This Formation existed before I became its guardian. Breaking it won’t happen overnight.”

“Of course, you can try. If what you said is a lie, I’ll drive you out without hesitation!”

Yuan Dai clearly didn’t believe Night Frost possessed such ability. Still, she wanted to see her try.

“That Formation was left behind by my father. I can break it.”

Night Frost walked up to the Formation. She was very familiar with these patterns.

She had even cracked some of them inside the Mythic Abyss.

To Night Frost, these Formations were nothing.

She easily drew out the Array Patterns. Within a few breaths, she found the Formation’s weak point and peeled it apart layer by layer.

Night Frost opened the box at the center.

It was empty.

“There’s nothing inside?”

Yuan Dai looked puzzled. Two breaths later, she pulled out her woodcutter’s axe, preparing to drive Night Frost away.

But Night Frost gestured for her to wait.

Her spirit swept across the surroundings. Then she found a hidden door behind the wall.

That was where the Key truly lay.

Night Frost seized it and waved it twice before the other two.

“This is the Key you mentioned? It looks completely ordinary.”

The Key in Night Frost’s hand was covered in rust. No matter how one looked at it, it didn’t resemble an important artifact.

It looked more like something that belonged in a garbage dump.

“If we break the seal now, we probably won’t be able to defeat that thing.”

“I’ll transfer the relevant memories to both of you. If you believe me, accept them. If you don’t…” Night Frost spread her hands. “There’s nothing I can do about that.”

Night Frost sent Moon Owl and Yuan Dai everything she knew about the gods.

After seeing those memories, the two of them couldn’t help believing her a little more.

“I want to go back and verify it myself.” Yuan Dai paused, then looked at Moon Owl. “Moon Owl, stay with her for now.”

Yuan Dai had clearly heard rumors about the matter somewhere. Now, she intended to verify Night Frost’s words personally.

If one wanted to know whether someone was telling the truth, the only way was to see it with one’s own eyes.

“But be careful. Most of the Magic Maidens aren’t on your side right now.”

Yuan Dai nodded and left.

Moon Owl stayed beside Night Frost, her gaze fixed on Night Frost. The stare made Night Frost’s skin crawl.

“You don’t have to watch me that closely…”

Night Frost summoned the Eye Orb.

The Eye Orb was seriously injured and still recovering. Night Frost had brought him out mainly so Moon Owl could meet him.

“This is the Eye Orb. Erm… he’s the Doctor you’ve been hunting recently.”

“I needed his power, so I brought him with me. Last time, he successfully created a weapon capable of shattering the Abyss with your… grandfather.”

Moon Owl’s eyes shifted slightly.

Her grandfather had been involved too?

But her grandfather had already been missing for over a month. No one knew where he had gone.

“It’s fine. Next, I’ll take you to find your grandfather. We’ll also look for Thunder Slash…”

“Then we’ll deal with the Abyss crisis and buy ourselves some time.”

Night Frost’s goal was clear.

Within this short period, she had to unite every force that could be united.

If no one in the Twelfth District could defeat the god, then she would gather every Magic Maiden and every available strength.

Before the god descended—

“We need to go to District Six now.”

“What are we going to District Six for?”

Moon Owl was confused. District Six was incredibly far from the Twelfth District. The journey alone would take more than ten days.

“To find someone.”

“Oh, right. Have Blade keep an eye on a girl named Kaneko.”

“And that girl named Sun Xiao can’t be allowed to live. There’s a silver cube in Sun Xiao’s tent. It’s extremely important.”

Night Frost wasn’t particularly close to Kaneko. But she had heard that Kaneko would eventually sacrifice herself to fight the god, all to save District Twenty One and everyone who had helped her.

Kaneko was someone worthy of respect.

Night Frost didn’t want her to die so soon. She deserved to enjoy the final days of her life.

“Oh, and gather all the girls who’ve contracted with Monsters. There’s something wrong with those Monsters.”

“They seem to be Abyssal Monsters’ method of trying to break through into the surface world.”

Those Monsters had taken root in the surface world several years ago. They had been attempting to launch an attack from within and without.

The facts proved that they had succeeded.

Some of the surface world’s Magic Maidens had been corrupted by the Monsters’ thoughts. Others had become food for their own familiars.

Fortunately, contracting with Monsters had never become mainstream. The disaster had been severe, but it still remained within an acceptable range.

Night Frost first went to the Yunyang Orphanage and found the old dean.

After explaining her purpose, Night Frost received the dean’s confirmation. The old woman then handed her the counterfeit Key.

After that, Night Frost visited the black market. She revealed her identity as a member of Aklatia to the black-market owner.

The owner negotiated with the Eye Orb. Once their discussion ended, Night Frost successfully obtained Thunder Slash’s contact information.

After connecting the black-market owner with Thunder Slash, Night Frost stopped by a hotel beside the black market.

She found Qiu Sheng there and beat her up, just to teach her a lesson.

Then she took Moon Owl with her and headed for District Six.

District Six was the Magic Maidens’ research center in the New Era. It was also the birthplace of most of the original world’s large-scale research bases.

It carried countless precious historical records and invaluable technologies.

At that moment, everyone was busy beneath District Six’s core base.

Blood wore a smile as she watched the girl before her take shape.

“What a perfect creation. You’ve done very well.”

“Once we master this power, I can’t imagine anyone in the world standing against us.”

“Even the Calamity Dragon won’t be a match. This is the power of Order.”

“There are still a few flaws, of course. Once we obtain Aklatia’s technology, we can upgrade it even further.”

“And you’ll benefit from it too.”

Blood licked her finger.

She had coveted Aklatia’s cell-repair technology and gene-fusion technology for a long time.

As an experimental subject created by the Magic Maidens, Blood was a Magic Maiden fused with Blood Clan genes.

But those genes were highly unstable.

She needed Aklatia’s technology.

Only after stabilizing her genes could she accept the god’s blood, receive the divine oracle, and break free from the shackles of 【Chapter Three】.

If she accepted it now, her body would collapse into a useless pool of flesh within minutes.

That was why she had Azure pull a few strings.

Azure forged the orders and regulations from above, then launched a sweeping campaign against underground organizations in the Twelfth District.

The operation was meant to “strengthen the Magic Maidens’ position.”

At the same time, it would force Aklatia to reveal itself.

The only regrettable part was that the Doctor had escaped.

The Magic Maidens of the Twelfth District were truly useless.

“Who told his boss to refuse our terms?” Blood sneered. “How pathetic.”

Blood had offered fairly generous conditions at the time.

Unfortunately, Aklatia’s boss refused to disclose the technology to them, no matter what.

“Oh, right. Let’s see… In twenty days, the Abyss should open, shouldn’t it?”

“When that happens, we’ll throw her onto the battlefield and use her for the first test.”

“Yes. After luring it with Abyssal Aura, the Abyss will open in Districts Nine, Ten, and Twelve.”

The elderly woman opened the compressed archive on the computer.

She examined the data seized from Aklatia and the Eye Orb’s private villa, while slowly repairing the pure-white girl inside the incubation chamber.

The elderly woman ordered her subordinates to produce a brand-new cell-repair fluid. At the same time, she began reassembling Blood’s genes.

Just as everything proceeded according to their plan, a crimson-gold figure crashed through the ceiling paved with Obsidian Stone powder.

After looking around, she drew a Spear from the flames.

“Damn, that was hard to find.”
