After Luo Ning woke up, he shivered, hugging his shoulders. The air was fresh and somewhat cold. Luo Ning recognized this sensation, like the scent of a post-rain morning. When he used to get off work in the early morning from his convenience store, he would sit on the roadside, stepping into puddles on the asphalt road after the rain, watching the rising sun. The pity was that there was no sun on this demon continent. If only he could go to the human territory… at least the conditions for survival there were much better. But of course, this passing thought was not realistic for Luo Ning; just managing to survive was difficult enough, there was no need to fantasize about a life full of wine and meat. The bonfire had already gone out. Luo Ning planned to sit up but noticed a large leaf was on his body, big enough to cover his whole body, shaped a bit like a banana leaf. Who had covered him with it… to shield from the rain? This question seemed not to require much thought. Luo Ning looked back to see Lilulu coming over, carrying two rabbits. She had also brought a bundle of firewood and proceeded to start a fire for Luo Ning. “My wife treats me so well!” This was perhaps equivalent to the feeling of happiness of waking up to a warm porridge breakfast. Luo Ning greeted Lilulu with a smile. Lilulu adjusted her pigtails and casually tossed the rabbit meat to Luo Ning. “Eat, and we’ll get on our way.” Her tone remained indifferent as ever, no spare expression on her clean little face. Luo Ning cheefully skewered the rabbit meat, then began to roast it. His barbecue skills have improved a little after these two days of practice. When the scent of roasted meat wafted over, Luo Ning faintly heard the sound of Lilulu swallowing her saliva. Dim as it was, his keen sense of hearing caught it. “Gulp—” “Want a taste?” Luo Ning tentatively held out a rabbit leg. “I disdain to eat human food!” “It’s really tasty, see the hot oil seeping out? It smells dozens of times better than the mushrooms we had last time!” Luo Ning’s smile resembled someone enticing a child with candy. “Hmph, I won't eat!” Lilulu was stubborn as a mule. Luo Ning could only try another approach, he sighed heavily. “Ah, it's a shame that I've roasted so much rabbit meat this time, if we can't finish it and have to throw it away, that would be so wasteful...” “You killed these little demons so that I don't starve to death, right? But if I can't finish and have to throw away their meat, won't their sacrifice be in vain?” Luo Ning has always been quite persuasive when dealing with children. Lilulu hesitated, looking at him and then the skewers in his hand. “Well… I can help you with a small portion.” After having a sufficient reason, Lilulu agreed to take the rabbit meat. She took a small bite and chewed slowly. “How is it?” Luo Ning asked her in anticipation. Lilulu kept eating in silence, without giving Luo Ning an answer. Luo Ning didn’t expect this tsundere to compliment him, so he didn’t ask for trouble. He took silence as acceptance and considered it as his wife complimenting him. After they filled their stomachs, they hit the road again. This time, the destination was clear. Past the Bamiris Forest, they would head towards Demon City. According to Lilulu, the Seven Pillar Demon Kings would give a response on what to do with Luo Ning in their palace. This wasn't bad news for Luo Ning, at least compared to a hopeless beginning, he now had a new possibility. To get back to the point…
If only I could be stronger.
Only when you're powerful enough, can you completely control your own life.
Walking along, Luo Ning cast a glance at his hands.
At this point, he was still oblivious to his divine power.
…
High up above, ten thousand feet in the air.
Two figures abruptly appeared.
Their bodies, white and sacred, were entirely out of place in this tainted land.
The holy halo enshrouded their bodies, immaculate white wings unfolded and folded behind them, long legs stepping on golden light. Bright golden hair cascaded down their backs, seeming to move of its own accord.
Some playful strands of hair hung on their chest, as if trying to hide the overly mature softness and abundance of the owner.
Beneath the solemn and sacred appearance, not a trace of emotion was mixed. On their pearly white faces, every curve seemed to have been delicately carved.
The leader of the seraph had a slight furrow to her brow, surprisingly, her icy gaze which usually showed indifference, had become somewhat moved.
She gazed in the distance at the remote black forest.
Reaching out her hand as if wanting to touch, but was obstructed just as she extended her fingers with tiny black lightning slithering around her fingertips.
Withdrawing her hand, her crystal blue eyes slightly narrowed, emanating an intimidating, sharp gaze.
"Archangel Raphel… The demon clans' barriers repel outsiders; you should stay away from this foul place," said the four-winged angel anxiously while standing by her side, wanting to persuade her more but hindered by rank and regulations.
Her thin lips moved slightly. The face, so pure it seemed blasphemous to violate, was filled with worry.
"I need to find him, my God," she said, her voice gentle and pleasing, as if coming from heaven, such a simple sentence seemingly having the power to enlighten one's soul.
Raphel usually spoke little.
The four-winged angel at her side was naturally willing to immerse herself in this beautiful melody, but the content of the dialogue gave her chills, her sense of panic even skipping a beat in the fluttering of her wings.
"Archangel Raphel... No! You can't blaspheme against the gods! Our angel clan's only God is the one in the heavenly cathedral…”
To betray the god of the Angel clan could lead to falling from heaven!!
"That's your god, Laz, my God is right before me."
With her sacred white six wings folding slightly forward, Raphel placed her hands in front of her chest, as if embracing something precious.
Closing her eyes lightly, the sacred and ethereal scene stunned Laz outright.
"Archangel Raphel…" Laz's face was etched with worry, but she could do nothing more than stand by helplessly.
After all, Archangel Raphel was the only Seraph that God could not control…
Moreover, she was the chief Seraph with the highest combat power in the entire Angel clan. If Raphel did choose to rebel, the news alone would be enough to rock heaven off its axis.
The angels who worshiped Raphel would likely break down…
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Laz shivered. She decided to pretend she'd seen nothing today, and to keep the secret of Raphel's secret... She only had to hold her tongue.
"Let's go," said Raphel, opening her eyes after a long while.
Unlike her previous cold eyes, there were actually traces of satisfaction now.
She would come back.
She would bring a weapon strong enough to break through the demon clan's magic shield.
At any cost, she would liberate her god -- the creator -- from the clutches of the devil!!
And then claim him for herself.
