Chapter Eleven

"Jocelyn?"

Samson Nan looked at her.

Jocelyn York, dressed in a black fitted coat, was panting as though she had run over.

"Oh yes, this is for you, stewed potatoes and ribs!"

She took out a plastic box from her twisted pocket.

It could be smelled from a person's distance away, very fragrant.

"Thank you... wait, how did you find this place?"

"Wouldn't I ask?"

"William Wei?"

"Um."

"Can you cook?"

He jokingly looked at her, the Jocelyn York he remembered, didn't seem related to these things at all.

"Just learned, I thought I would try it out on you~"

She grinned.

"I'm leaving."

Raina Nan put on her shoes and stood up.

"Raina, well... I'll leave after I give these things to Samson Nan, you two try it!"

Jocelyn York hurriedly waved her hands.

She thought Raina Nan was leaving because she arrived.

"No need, Jocelyn, you guys chat~"

She turned her head, smiled faintly, sweet and generous.

"Eh? Oh, like this..."

Jocelyn York hesitated for a moment, flattered, did she just call her 'Sister Jocelyn'? It's the first time.

Raina Nan left, quietly.

"Samson Nan, do you feel... Raina's attitude towards me has changed?"

Looking at her back, Jocelyn York tugged at Samson Nan's sleeve, incredulously.

"Probably?"

Ding ding ding

A text message?

He took out his phone.

"Eat, eat, eat. It won't kill you!"

"Probably..."

As expected, he smiled wryly.

...

Raina Nan returned home, turned on the TV, and toggled a few channels.

"Idiot..."

She picked up the pillow on the sofa and buried her face in it.

"Raina! Come help me sweep the garden!"

Her mother's loud voice came from outside.

"I'm busy!"

She didn't want to move, had no mood.

"You call this being busy?! Hurry up, or go do your homework!!"

"Mom, can't you just chill for a moment? I finished my homework! Can I sweep the garden later?"

She frowned and kept pressing the remote.

"Why can't you learn from your brother, he helped me with housework when he was home!"

While the child is home, they nag and educate every day. When they're not, they praise and miss them a lot, mothers are the same everywhere.

"Then let him come..."

She muttered low.

When Samson Nan was home, he always took over all the chores, saying she couldn't help.

"This child! Not to mention, you're spoiled by your brother! This is called indulgence, understand? He pampered you until you can't do anything at this age!!"

"..."

She pouted, no vent to her frustrations.

"Hey, can you say less!? Raina is grown up, she can handle her own things, and her studies haven't fallen behind!"

Finally, the father reading the newspaper beside couldn't help it.

"Deadbeat, do you have any place to speak? You also spoiled her! If Samson Nan is the main offender, you're the accomplice!"

"Really... Raina, go do your homework."

Feeling helpless, he shot Raina Nan a look.

That's all your father could do for you.

"Oh".

Understanding the signal, she quickly retreated, her mother could go on the whole day once she started.

Back in her room, she closed the door and opened a book.

But the homework was done a long time ago, so was she supposed to stare at the book and daydream?

She didn't want to calm down - doing so would only make her think too much.

Ding ding ding.

Her phone rang.

Her body shook slightly, she picked up the phone and confirmed the name on the screen.

Bell Tong.

She let out a sigh of relief.

"Raina, what are you doing?"

"Nothing."

"Watch a movie, want to join?"

Bell Tong, on the other end of the phone, seemed in a good mood.

“What movie?”

“Flipped.”

"What is it?"

"You are so uncultured! 'Flipped'. I heard it's excellent!"

“A romance?”

“Something like that.”

Bell Tong watching a romance movie? If this was said to others, they would find it hard to believe.

“Are you going alone?”

“Roxie will be there too.”

She could probably guess who recommended the movie to her...

"Alright."

"Why don't you call your brother to pay?"

"Nevermind."

Now she didn't want to hear his name.

“What about that dog of a brother of yours? Summon him over!”

“He's dead!”

“Another argument?”

Bell Tong stopped herself from laughing.

“Alright, I'm done teasing you. I'm headed out now, see you at the Starfish Theater!”

......

"Sorry, sorry, I kept you waiting!"

As a result, Bell Tong was late.

She may not have come for the movie, just for the sheer excitement.

"Hurry up, we only have ten minutes left! Geez..."

Roxie Lin had been really looking forward to this. She never tires of watching films like these pure love ones.

"Let's get inside!"

Bell Tong took them by the hand and led them inside.

The 90-minute film wasn't long.

The dark theater was silent throughout the showing, with no one speaking or leaving early.

It was an excellent movie.

Roxie Lin cried. This was not a sad story, but she cried.

Maybe there was a particular scene, or a line that struck a chord, and the tears would just fall.

Bell Tong found it odd, why would someone cry at a happy ending?

But, whatever. She got to see a hunk in the movie – that already made her trip worthwhile.

Raina Nan was not as emotional as Roxie Lin, and also not as indifferent as Bell Tong.

She adored the female lead, a girl named Julie.

The moment Julie saw the blue-eyed boy, Bryce, she was smitten. She was brave, and cared not for the consequences.

Although to him, she was nothing more than a monster.

She was obsessively believing in certain things, making her headstrong.

......

“Raina, what do you think?”

Roxie Lin wanted to know her opinion.

"It's great."

Raina Nan smiled.

After watching the movie, she was somewhat envious of Julie.

Climbing a tall sycamore tree, looking at the scenery, and feeling better.

"I have always believed that there are some irreplaceable love in the world, bestowed soul and colour, demanding life's commitment."

She liked those lines in the movie, but that was it.

Because she was a coward, such things... she could not do.

"Gee, you two, was the movie that touching? Don't put on such long faces. Come on, let's eat something tasty!”

Food as a remedy for sorrow? Crude yet effective.

"Hey, Raina, isn't that your brother?"

Roxie Lin suddenly grabbed her.

"Huh?"

Following Roxie's direction, she immediately spotted Samson Nan.

He was too conspicuous, impossible to hide even in the crowd.

“Really! Wait, who's that woman next to him?”

Bell Tong pointed it out, and their attention shifted to the woman.

“Girlf...girlfriend?”

Roxie Lin covered her mouth.

“Raina, do you recognize her? What’s her relationship to your brother?”

Bell Tong found it hard to believe.

“How should I know”

She answered, unflustered.

“He didn't even tell you? Then I guess it's true!”

“No, it's not!”

"Huh? I thought you didn't know!"

"..."
