Chapter 10

Early Morning

Knock, knock, knock... Knock, knock, knock...

The rhythmic knocking on the door came in groups of three.

Samson Nan opened his eyes, and the knocking stopped.

So, he closed his eyes again...

Knock, knock, knock...

"Damn it!"

He put on a loose long-sleeved T-shirt and jumped out of bed.

Naturally, he was in a bad mood, not being able to sleep in on a much-needed weekend.

It wouldn't be easy for him to fall back asleep after this.

"Who is it?"

He reached out to open the door with a soft, weak tone.

"...It's me."

"Raina?"

He looked at her with surprise, then at her half-raised hand, was she planning to continue knocking?

"Come in."

Raina Nan was wrapped in a red scarf, covering her face, only revealing half of it.

"What are you doing here so early in the morning?"

He felt sorry for her and pinched her cold little hand.

"Mom asked me to pass on a message to you!"

"Huh?"

"Next week, grandma's family is hosting a dinner, and you're invited."

"What's the occasion for grandma's dinner?"

He looked puzzled.

"How should I know? I'm just the messenger~"

"…Is that it?"

"That's it."

"Hey, are you crazy? Couldn't you just call me for this kind of thing?"

It had been a week since they last met, and she wouldn't admit to missing him.

"Can't I come over if I have nothing better to do? Get out of the way!"

She pushed Samson Nan, who was blocking the entrance, and entered the room.

"Why are you so angry so early in the morning?"

He helplessly closed the door.

"Do you miss me? Little girl~"

He heated up a glass of milk and placed it on the table before sitting next to her.

"I do."

She looked up.

"Just kidding."

"Tsk, and here I was thinking about you every day~"

"Would you really miss me and not even bear to call? Liar…"

She mumbled quietly while holding the glass.

"I've been working overtime this week. I don't even have the energy to eat when I get home."

He said with a bitter smile.

"Why don't you find a girlfriend? She could help you cook…"

She took a sip of warm milk and casually said.

"You don't seem too bad. How about being my girlfriend?"

He grinned wickedly, squinting his eyes.

"Huh?"

She was taken aback.

"What do you mean 'huh'? You should answer 'yes' or 'no'!"

"No!!"

She stomped on his foot, annoyed.

"By the way, mom asked me to ask you something."

"Go ahead."

"What kind of girl do you like?"

Her mother assigned her this task a long time ago, and she finally remembered it today.

"Why is she asking about that?"

"Your guess?"

"To find me a match?"

"Yes."

"Please tell her, she doesn't need to worry about it."

He found it amusing.

"Just say something casual so I can report back…"

She looked out the window, avoiding his gaze, pretending not to care.

"Hey, I really don't know what kind of girl I like. Can you give me some hints?"

"I think Jocelyn York is perfect for you!"

She finally spoke, but it sounded like she was holding her breath.

"Why bring her up?"

He looked at her with amusement.

"Not denying it means you agree. Fine, I'll go back and tell mom!"

She stood up.

"No, no, no! I'll say it, okay?"

He quickly grabbed her hand.

"Firstly, she must be beautiful."

He looked up and thought about it. This is a man's nature, not excessive.

"Secondly, she must be a good cook."

As the saying goes, if you want to win a man's heart, you have to win his stomach first. This wasn't excessive either.

"And thirdly…"

"Your own conditions aren't that great, and yet your requirements are so high!"

She couldn't help but complain.

"Didn't you ask me to say it?"

"Make it shorter; I can't remember all of it!"

She impatiently glared at him.

"Just tell mom, find someone like you for me!"

This time it was short, yet…"No, don't talk nonsense!"

She blushed and accidentally met his gaze, quickly looking away.

"So hard to please!"

He felt helpless.

Is there really someone who can come up with an answer that completely satisfies such troublesome creatures as women? He thought it was difficult.

"Bro"

"Hmm?"

"I'm going back!"

She stood up, and for some reason, she suddenly wanted to flee.

"What's the hurry to leave?"

"Mind your own business!"

She pouted, with the blush on her face still not completely gone.

"Then let me walk you."

He picked up his coat, put it on, and chased after her.

She bent down to put on her shoes.

"Excuse me, is this Samson Nan's house?"

A clear female voice.

Raina Nan looked up and saw the somewhat familiar face.

"Yun...Luojia?!"

"Huh? Rainy?!"

The two looked at each other for two seconds, both dumbfounded.
