Ye Su didn’t know which version this world was currently on, but it had to be past Version Two. The level cap in Version Two was 60, and Fiona was above level 60. That gave Ye Su a useful benchmark.
So Ye Su figured that even with the GM Class, he might not be the strongest person in this world. There might even be someone capable of threatening him. But his GM Class was only LV.1. He didn’t know how to gain experience for it, or how much his stats would increase with each level, but at least he shouldn’t be too weak. After all, he was a GM.
“They got here fast. I thought I’d have time to slip away.” In his GM state, Ye Su’s senses were astonishingly sharp. Never mind his 999 Spirit—just by listening, he could tell that a lot of people had already surrounded the place.
Ye Su switched his class to Novice, and an overwhelming sense of weakness washed over him again. Losing all that power really was hard to get used to.
Kuxi had been watching Ye Su closely from the side. Suddenly, she felt that the mysterious, unfathomable aura around this little guy had vanished. He looked like an ordinary kid next door again, and she stared at him in confusion, figuring the mysterious boy must simply be a good actor.
Just then, a group of people entered the battered pastry shop. They were tall and burly, clad in standard-issue iron armor. They were city guards.
The broad-shouldered, burly man at their head was probably the patrol captain.
“Can you explain what happened here?” His face was full of lingering fear. With destruction on this scale, it was lucky there hadn’t been a mass-casualty incident. Otherwise, he might have ended up drinking tea at the lord’s house tonight.
“I don’t know~ It scared me half to death! A bunch of older guys came in just now, looking to rob the place and kill people, but a super handsome guy passing by beat them all up. Then he shot straight into the sky and disappeared! It scared me half to death~ Sniffle, sniffle.”
There it was—the terrible acting! She’d done such a good job pretending just a moment ago, after all that time spent reining in her aura.
Kuxi gave him a look of pure disdain. A super handsome guy? Seriously, kid, you’re praising yourself like crazy, aren’t you? And it felt like someone was going to call you out any second now.
She felt a little nervous, but then she saw Ye Su wink at her, silently signaling her.
“Mm... yeah, that’s what happened. I can’t say if he was handsome, though. He was wearing a mask. At first glance, I thought we’d run into both robbers and a pervert today.” Kuxi played along, deciding she couldn’t lie. Let that made-up super handsome guy disappear!
Then she saw the wounded look in Ye Su’s eyes. Sorry, but you really weren’t handsome. You were such a young kid, so... Actually, now that she thought about it... you might have potential for cross-dressing. Put on a wig and an outfit, and you wouldn’t even need makeup... Oh my god! Kuxi thought she might’ve discovered Ye Su’s new talent. She could talk to him about it later.
“I see. So some unknown person put a stop to the disturbance? Do you remember what they looked like?” The burly patrol captain’s question made it clear he hadn’t thought it through.
“Didn’t we just say he was wearing a mask? How could we see what he looked like?” Ye Su immediately quipped.
“But you also said he was handsome, didn’t you?” the patrol captain asked, baffled. His reply left Ye Su speechless.
“Handsome... doesn’t necessarily mean a handsome face. It could be his vibe. Like, look at my vibe, for inst—” Before Ye Su could finish, the patrol captain’s expression darkened. He simply ignored the kid. Kids weren’t reliable witnesses anyway. He still had to go ask around at the other shops.
