The moment he held the Withered Wood Staff, it counted as equipped.
But with the GM Class’s high stats, Ye Su didn’t even notice the tiny stat boost.
It was time to patch the monster wreaking havoc in the city.
As Ye Su touched and equipped the Withered Wood Staff, a jolt ran through him, and a rush of information flooded his body.
【Novice Class Trait: Low chance to learn skills tied to an equipment type】
【Magic Missile Lv. 1】 learned and added to the Novice Class skill list.
He’d suddenly learned a skill—and on the Novice Class, no less? He was confused, but for now, he might as well switch to Novice. All he had to do was attack once to deliver the patch, and the new skill was undoubtedly ranged, making it perfect for the situation.
He switched back to Novice, and the feeling of boundless power faded. He felt downright weak. A wave of weakness washed over him—the consequence of getting used to great power, then returning to his usual couch-potato state.
Ye Su hurried to the window with the Withered Wood Staff in hand. Since it had been modified, the staff was incredibly light. Equipping it had also changed his stats.
His Spirit had increased. That should affect the skill’s damage, right?
Ye Su 【Novice Lv. 2】【Hidden Class (can switch at any time): GM Lv. 1】
【Title】: None
Health: 20/20
Mana: 10/10
Attack: -1
Spirit: 17
Defense: 0
He had no one to compare himself with, but among level-two newbies, his Spirit had to be pretty high. After all, his equipment was what boosted it this far.
He didn’t know how to use skills, but he’d at least seen how they worked in games. Gripping the end of the staff with both hands, Ye Su pointed its tip at the human-shaped monster in the distance and began silently chanting the skill’s name: 【Magic Missile】.
A milky-white glow flickered over the staff. Ye Su felt as if the staff had drained something from inside him. His vision blurred in an instant, and he couldn’t move. Completely drained, he’d lost the ability to act.
In game terms, his MP had been completely depleted.
Everyone who played games knew skills consumed mana, but… come on! You can’t give me a starting skill that uses up all my mana in one shot and knocks me out!
With the last scraps of his awareness, he hurriedly sent the little patch of light in his hand into the milky-white orb that had gathered at the staff’s tip. The two orbs merged without any strange effects, blending together seamlessly.
“There! Go fix that bug for me!” Thinking a loud shout might boost the damage, Ye Su released the skill. Then, watching the orb fly away, he passed out.
The Magic Missile streaked toward its target like a shooting star across the night sky. It wasn’t fast, but the human-shaped monster fighting Fiona couldn’t resist at all. The Blood Prison kept binding her; it didn’t hurt her, but she couldn’t move.
That gave the Magic Missile the opening it needed to hit her.
Bound by the Blood Prison, Stark saw the white Magic Missile coming toward her. It carried only a tiny amount of mana. Normally, she wouldn’t even bother defending against such a weak attack, but an inexplicable sense of pressure came from it.
It seemed to contain power that could kill her—and the thought filled her with sudden fear.
