Chapter 11: Picking Up Gear? Don’t Mind

“You’re a priest, but you should know you can’t really help much, right?” Mo Bai suddenly said.

Exploiting a bug to kill Forest Wolves didn’t cost him any HP, so a priest who only knew Basic Healing wasn’t much help to him.

“You understand the saying ‘He who does not work shall not eat,’ don’t you?” Mo Bai said, looking at Mo Xi, who was still standing there in a daze.

“Of course I do.” Mo Xi nodded.

How could she not understand such a simple principle? She was an idol, after all.

“Then you know what you should be doing, right?” Mo Bai pointed to the materials and gear dropped by the Forest Wolves down the mountain.

“You want me to pick up the gear?” Mo Xi instantly understood what Mo Bai meant. She pointed at herself in disbelief.

She was a darling of heaven, everyone’s idol.

“You understand the saying ‘He who does not work shall not eat,’ don’t you?” Mo Bai rolled his eyes.

She hadn’t lifted a finger and still expected to leech EXP. Like he’d let that happen.

Back in his previous life, power-leveling clients came with a price tag.

The game had only just launched, and time was precious. Getting someone leveled up now cost a fortune.

He was already being generous by not charging Mo Xi.

And she didn’t even want to pick up the gear?

“I! Get! It!” Mo Xi said through gritted teeth, stressing every word.

Mo Bai was right. He who did not work should not eat.

It really wasn’t right for her to sit there leeching EXP without doing anything.

Under Mo Bai’s watchful gaze, Mo Xi sheepishly climbed down the mountain and picked up the gear on the ground.

“Slave driver! Capitalist!” Mo Xi muttered under her breath as she picked up the gear.

The great, pure-hearted idol had actually been reduced to doing odd jobs.

If she hadn’t been unable to beat Mo Bai, she would’ve taken him on.

Mo Bai was sitting cross-legged in the cave, so naturally he couldn’t hear Mo Xi muttering.

But even if he had heard her, he wouldn’t have cared.

He was a slave driver. A capitalist.

What could Mo Xi do about it?

“Looks like the drop rate really is pretty low right now.” Mo Bai took the gear and materials from Mo Xi, shaking his head repeatedly.

After one round, they’d barely gotten a handful of common items.

Super God Corporation was way too stingy.

Good thing Super God Corporation had adjusted the gear drop rates by the time he started playing in his previous life. Otherwise, he’d have had to fight in a full set of common gear back then.

“There are still 70 left. Surely some decent gear will drop by the time we’re done?” Mo Bai calculated silently.

He wasn’t even hoping for blue gear. Green would be fine.

All he had on hand was the money he’d earned working odd jobs.

One piece of green gear could earn him enough to move out of the school dorms.

“Ten respawn every three minutes. I’ll take them out quickly. You just wait here and pick up the gear.”

“That’s your job,” Mo Bai told Mo Xi.

“Got it.” Mo Xi pouted as she agreed.

Just hang in there, Mo Xi. You’re a man right now. Don’t give yourself away.

Mo Xi shouted to herself inwardly.

She was secretly playing the game behind her manager’s back.

If her manager found out, she’d be in trouble.

With both of them working at it, the 100 Forest Wolves were soon wiped out.

“I’ll go pick up the gear,” Mo Xi said, sounding a little excited.

Ever since she’d picked up a piece of green gear, she’d discovered the thrill of collecting loot.

More importantly, she’d now reached level six—a level she’d never even dared imagine reaching.

Leveling up this fast was downright addictive.

“Wait. Don’t go. The boss is about to spawn.” Mo Bai held out a hand to stop Mo Xi.

After a hundred Forest Wolves were killed, the Forest Wolf Leader would appear.

That was a level-five boss.
