Chapter 7: A Real Man? A Fake?

“Let’s go! I’m definitely completing the quest today!” Mo Bai declared, fired up.

Mo Bai quickly sold the basic gear he had on hand to the blacksmith workshop’s NPC, then grabbed ten mana potions and headed back to where he’d been before.

Beginner Mana Potion: Restores 100 MP over 10 seconds.

One mana potion cost three copper coins, and the three pieces of gear brought him thirty copper coins—just enough to buy ten potions.

Ten mana potions could restore 1,000 MP, giving him even more staying power.

“Maybe I can finish the quest before the day’s over.” Mo Bai lay prone in the cave he’d used before, casting Beginner Fireball.

A red fireball fell from the sky and struck a Forest Wolf.

The Forest Wolf let out a mournful howl, its bright blue-green fur turning charred black.

One Forest Wolf after another fell, and Mo Bai’s experience bar filled at a visible pace.

When the sixth Forest Wolf fell, he successfully reached level five.

“Level five already? I wonder if I can reach level ten after clearing out the rest of the Forest Wolves.” Mo Bai stopped and murmured to himself.

In Super God Domain, the experience required doubles every five levels.

Once he reached level five, he no longer received the bonus experience for fighting monsters above his level.

On top of that, the higher his level, the less he gained from killing lower-level monsters.

Even though exploiting the bug had saved him a lot of time, Forest Wolves weren’t the strongest level-nine monsters in the starter village. If he didn’t move to a new grinding spot, the players who came after him might still catch up.

“Looks like getting to level ten with this bug is out of the question. I’ll have to rely on the quest reward.”

“No matter what, I should still be ahead of those hardcore grinders for now.”

“Even with the reduced gains, I might not be doing any worse than them. As long as I can keep my lead, that’s enough,” Mo Bai thought.

The first person to reach level ten would not only unlock the level rankings, but also receive a generous reward.

That generous reward was what he had his eye on.

“I remember that in my previous life, the first person to make the level rankings got an Artifact accessory suited to their class.”

No one ever had too many Artifacts.

Every additional Artifact would help him that much more.

More importantly, Artifact accessories were worth more than any other piece of gear besides a main weapon.

“I’d better get to it!” Mo Bai said, pumping himself up.

He downed a blue potion. Mo Bai’s MP began to recover slowly, and another red fireball formed.

One red fireball after another struck the Forest Wolves.

Mo Bai quickly killed the four remaining Forest Wolves.

Mo Bai jumped down from the cave and started gathering the materials and gear the Forest Wolves had dropped.

“Don’t run!” A voice suddenly rang out nearby.

Mo Bai quickly climbed back into the cave and hid.

A moment later, four players dressed in beginner gear appeared in the Forest Wolves’ territory.

“Run, then! Keep running, kid.” Three players with menacing looks surrounded a handsome young man.

“You took our green gear and still thought you could get away? Did you really think you could outrun us?”

“B-but you said we’d split the loot by class, and you promised to give me the gear for my class,” the young man said, flustered.

“That’d be fine if it were white gear. But this is green gear—it should belong to us. There were three of us doing the work,” the warrior leading the group argued shamelessly after the young man spoke.

The three of them deeply regretted agreeing to the deal with the young man in the first place.

If it had just been ordinary white gear, they wouldn’t have cared.

But the young man was holding green gear, and there were only a handful of green items in the entire starter village.

If they sold it, they could definitely get a good price.

Fortunately for them, the young man had no powerful backers, and his class was a Priest who could only heal.

That made him easy prey for the three of them: a Warrior, an Assassin, and a Ranger.

If the young man refused to hand over the green gear, they had no qualms about killing him and taking it.

After all, this was the starter village. The penalty for becoming a red-name player wasn’t severe.

“I… It’s mine,” the young man said, shaking his head as he backed up against the hillside.

The young man—or rather, the young woman, Mo Xi—deeply regretted sneaking off to try out the new game Super God Domain, which she was about to endorse, behind her manager’s back.

She never expected something like this to happen.

After changing her gender, she couldn’t reveal who she really was.

She was sure that if she could reveal her identity, these three players wouldn’t dare keep harassing her.

But in the game, she was a man.

Even if she told them she was Mo Xi, she doubted anyone would believe her.

“M-maybe I should just give them the green gear,” Mo Xi thought.
