“Damn, who shoved me?”
“Who touched my ass?”
“I... Who touched my leg?”
The crush of people swallowed Mo Bai up. He stumbled his way out of the crowd.
“Damn, there are this many people on launch day? No wonder it’s such an international game.” Mo Bai wiped the sweat from his brow and grumbled.
He’d almost been groped in the crowd.
That was dangerous.
“Let’s see what gear the system gave me.” Mo Bai checked his inventory.
“Sure enough, same old story.” Mo Bai looked at the lone, plain staff in his inventory, not sure whether to laugh or cry.
In his previous life, Super God Domain had been mocked again and again for how stingy its starting rewards were.
“Still, this staff is all I need.” Mo Bai looked at the staff in his hand, equipped it, and said,
Plain Staff: Spell Attack +1
Player Name: Bai Mo
Class: Mage
Title: None
Level: 0
HP: 100/100
MP: 100/100
Spell Attack (Attack): 11
Defense: 5
Casting Speed (Attack Speed): 5
Critical Hit Rate: 1%
Attributes: Strength 5, Stamina 5, Intelligence 5, Agility 5
Free Attribute Points: 10
Skill: Beginner Fireball (LV1): Costs 20 MP to launch a small fireball at an enemy, dealing damage equal to Spell Attack +20.
Equipment: Plain Staff: Spell Attack +1
“Ten attribute points? Looks like the five bonus points have been added.” Mo Bai saw the free points and nodded repeatedly.
Without a Supreme Helmet, you started with only 5 attribute points.
Five attribute points wouldn’t make much difference later on, but they still mattered quite a bit in the early game.
“I’ll put all 10 into Intelligence. I need plenty of mana and magic attack.” Mo Bai put every point into Intelligence without hesitation.
Intelligence affected magic attack, mana, and casting speed. It was the attribute he needed most.
As for the others, Strength affected attack, Stamina affected defense and HP, and Agility affected attack speed and critical hit rate.
None of those were attributes Mo Bai needed.
Some mages put a few points into Stamina to guard against assassin ambushes.
But Mage was only a temporary class. The class Mo Bai really wanted was the Divine Tier class hidden in this beginner village.
Peerless!
Only after changing to Peerless would he reach his true starting point.
“If I remember right, to get Peerless, I have to kill 100 Forest Wolves and one Forest Wolf Boss.”
“At my current strength, there’s no way I can fight the Forest Wolves head-on.”
“Guess I’ll have to use a bug?” Mo Bai mused.
He knew quite a few terrain exploits.
And it just so happened that the Forest Wolves’ den was in a spot where he could exploit one.
That was what some bored players in his previous life had figured out after seeing a top player show off their Peerless class.
The player who’d obtained Peerless had posted their experience on the player forums
because Divine Tier classes only granted players double the attribute points when they changed class.
By the time that top player changed to Peerless, they were already close to the level cap, so they couldn’t get many attribute points.
That was why they’d shared their experience—to gripe about the game company.
“At my current level, I probably can’t accept a Forest Wolf hunting quest.”
“Guess I’ll have to prove it with results.” Mo Bai headed up the mountain.
The NPCs in Super God Domain were fully intelligent. If he took materials dropped by Forest Wolves to the village chief, he’d be able to accept the Forest Wolf quest early.
But if he showed up without the materials, the village chief would turn him away, saying he wasn’t strong enough.
“Take your time killing rabbits. I’ll get going.” Mo Bai waved at the players behind him, still fighting over the beginner monsters.
At the rate beginner monsters respawned, it’d probably take them a long time to finish the rabbit-fur collection quest.
And once they were done with the rabbits, a whole string of even more tedious quests would be waiting for them.
With the knowledge he’d brought from his previous life, he didn’t need to compete with these newcomers for monsters.
Forest Wolves were level-five monsters. No one would reach their territory before the end of the day.
He could hunt them in peace.
Mo Bai carefully crossed through the territories of various monsters and reached the outskirts of the Forest Wolf territory.
Blue-gray Forest Wolves prowled through the area.
Mo Bai watched the wolves’ patrol routes for a while, slipped past their detection range, and climbed the nearby mountain.
Halfway up, he spotted a pitch-black cave.
He immediately turned and entered it.
“All set. Let’s get started.” Mo Bai sat cross-legged and silently recited Beginner Fireball, aiming at the Forest Wolves below.
A red fireball gathered in front of him and shot toward the Forest Wolves below.
One Forest Wolf was struck and let out a mournful cry. The number -51 appeared above it.
The Forest Wolf that had been hit warily scanned its surroundings, but it couldn’t spot Mo Bai sitting cross-legged inside the cave.
“Just as I thought. Those players had the right idea.” Mo Bai chuckled.
Not only did he have the monsters all to himself, he also got the bonus for killing enemies above his level.
Looks like this time, he could beat all those top players to the top of the level rankings.
