You never know when the carousel of life will suddenly start turning.
Standing in a women’s clothing store, Su Yuzhe suddenly remembered a lot of things.
When he was little, the other kids didn’t want to play with him—or, more accurately, they didn’t dare. For one thing, he was the eldest son of the Su Family, and their parents had warned them to be careful when talking to Yuzhe.
But the bigger reason was his appearance. Yuzhe had told those kids again and again that he was a boy, but they were too young to understand.
Even when he was little, Yuzhe had been far more mature than other kids his age.
He’d simply thought those kids weren’t very observant. Otherwise, how could they not tell? Yuzhe figured he only looked a little like a girl, that was all.
But then, one day...
The family’s new maid came running up to seven-year-old Yuzhe, excitedly holding a piece of clothing. “Young lady! I made this outfit myself. You’re so cute—it’s bound to look perfect on you!”
She looked so excited, and she’d called him “Young Lady” from the bottom of her heart.
Yuzhe’s confidence began to waver. Maybe this wasn’t a matter of little kids being bad at judging people. Maybe he really didn’t look much like a boy.
So from that day on, he silently vowed that he would never wear girls’ clothes!
...........................
Now, Yuche took the clothes from the sales assistant and shoved them in front of Yuzhe.
His thoughts snapped back to the present.
His brief escape hadn’t worked. Reality was still right there.
Sorry, childhood self. Looks like I have to break that promise now.
Yuzhe took the clothes Yuche had handed him, too afraid to even look at them—but his feet refused to move.
The sales assistant had already pointed out the fitting room. Seeing this “peerless beauty” take the clothes but make no move to go change, she couldn’t help feeling puzzled.
Yuche ran out of patience. She went around behind Yuzhe and pushed him toward the fitting room. “My sister’s a little shy, ahaha. It’s okay, it’s okay. Sis, we can take our time changing. No rush.”
So she was shy... The sales assistant heard that and considerately moved farther away.
No problem. She’d still get to admire the view once they came out!
Yuzhe really wanted to resist, but his younger sisters had said they wouldn’t go to school if he didn’t put the clothes on. So he had to endure it.
At the fitting room door, Yuzhe gave in. He took a step inside himself and shut the door.
But before it closed, Yuche actually followed him in!
The door clicked shut. Zixiao realized what had happened and hurried over. “Yuche! Your brother’s changing! What are you going in there for?!”
Yuche seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable. “My brother doesn’t know how to put on girls’ clothes. Of course I have to help him.”
The sales assistant in the distance couldn’t hear what they were saying. She only saw the silver-haired little girl follow her “sister” into the fitting room. They must be so close...
Zixiao was getting anxious.
Not because Yuche had followed her brother inside. She was anxious because she’d missed her own chance! She should’ve followed them right away. Now she was missing out on so much!
Ugh! They say being a noob is a sin for a reason!
As she waited anxiously, the minutes crawled by.
But when the fitting room door finally opened...
Zixiao’s anxious feelings vanished without a trace.
Yuche came out first. Her face was red, and she was breathing a little harder than usual, but she looked completely satisfied.
She immediately rummaged through the bag on Zixiao’s back. “I need some tissues. I have to wipe off this nosebleed...”
“Huh?”
Zixiao thought, No way. I haven’t seen you getting overheated lately. How’d you end up with a nosebleed?
Yuche pulled out a tissue, pressed it to her delicate nose, then crouched down with her back to the fitting room, looking like she absolutely couldn’t bring herself to turn around.
She didn’t seem to be in any real trouble, though. Maybe her brother had just overwhelmed her.
Wait. Where was her brother?
Zixiao looked up again—and came face-to-face with Yuzhe peeking out of the fitting room.
He was turned sideways, only sticking his head out to check the surroundings.
Even so, Zixiao’s mind went completely blank.
She’d never seen this expression on Yuzhe’s face before. She thought she’d seen every expression her brother could make, but this one was completely new.
Yuzhe’s silver hair fell beside his face as he tilted his head. His face was so red it looked ready to burst, his lips pressed together, and tears glistened in his eyes, making him look so helpless. His faintly furrowed brows were full of grievance.
He stared straight at Zixiao, as if begging her for help, and didn’t dare come out.
That look struck the softest part of Zixiao’s heart. She felt like she was floating.
Yuche tossed the tissue covering her face into the nearby trash can, then turned around and steadied herself. “Phew, I’m okay now. Big Brother, you’re way more devastating than I expected. Today was worth it.”
Seeing Yuzhe still peeking out without coming out, Yuche hurried over, grabbed his shoulders, and pulled him out. “Come on, Big Brother! Let Zixiao see too. You’re so cute—why are you hiding?”
“H-Hey, don’t... don’t pull me!”
But he was caught completely off guard and dragged right out of the fitting room.
The sight that met Zixiao’s eyes made it feel as if time and space had frozen.
Before her stood Yuzhe, still looking shy, his long silver hair gleaming as it fell all the way to his waist.
He was wearing a pale blue top decorated with plenty of black-and-white lace and ribbons. A medium-sized bow sat on the left side, and the sleeves were cut wide enough to cover half of Yuzhe’s hands. It was unbelievably cute.
Below it was a white pleated skirt that fell just past his knees, dotted with black patterns.
Paired with Yuzhe’s naturally fair, smooth, long legs, the pleated skirt’s charm came alive all at once.
The hem already covered his knees, so the skirt wasn’t short at all. Even so, Yuzhe desperately tried to push it down with his right hand—though pushing any harder wouldn’t change a thing.
And it seemed like the light had gone out of Yuzhe’s eyes...
Yuzhe was only a meter away, but to Zixiao, he looked like a heavenly fairy—ethereal, like he didn’t belong to this world.
But Yuzhe’s tearful, defeated words immediately dragged Zixiao back to reality. “Stop looking! I’m begging you two, stop looking! This is the height of humiliation! The height of humiliation!”
“Ah, I’m sorry... Big Brother...” Zixiao apologized, but she didn’t look away. “Big Brother... you really are... so pretty.”
“Don’t say that! Zixiao, you set me up!”
But Zixiao only stepped closer, studying Yuzhe’s appearance as if she wanted to etch this moment into her memory forever.
Yuzhe didn’t dare move. He tried desperately to hide behind Zixiao and Yuche, as if he was terrified someone else might see him.
Yuche did try to shield him, but she still complained, “Honestly, Big Brother, why are you hiding? Do you know how pretty you are right now...? Ah, no, I’m going to die if I look at you this close... I mean, you don’t have to hide.”
“How could I not hide?!” Yuzhe simply crouched on the floor, clutching his skirt down. “You’re insulting me, a manly man! H-Hurry, cover me while I get back to the fitting room. I’m changing back!”
But then he saw Yuche pull out her phone and snap a picture of him. Click! Was she taking photos?!
And judging by the sound, she was taking a whole burst of them?!
Yuzhe hurriedly pushed her phone down. “Y-Yuche! Why are you taking pictures?!”
“For my wallpaper, obviously.” Yuche put her phone away as if it were only natural. “My old wallpaper was a picture of you half-asleep. It’s time for an upgrade.”
Yuzhe could only watch as she set the wallpaper: a picture of him looking shy and pressing his skirt down with one hand.
“Yuche, delete those! I’m begging you, act like a human being!”
Zixiao was stunned all over again. As expected of Yuche—she always came up with tricks Zixiao never would’ve thought of.
So she quietly whispered to Yuche, “Send me a few later...”
Yuzhe wanted to cry, but couldn’t. He was a manly man, after all. Once he changed back, he’d be a fine, upstanding man again!
Meanwhile, the sales assistant standing off in the distance was still completely dazed.
She’d been staring in shock ever since Yuzhe came out in the outfit. Good grief, could a person on Earth really look like that? She’d never seen anyone so beautiful and cute, not even on TV. It was unreal.
So she hurried over with the two outfits she’d set aside earlier.
“That outfit really suits you, dear! Actually, looking at you, I feel like anything would suit you.”
As she spoke, she handed over the two elaborate-looking outfits she’d just brought. “This one’s a new design inspired by Lolita fashion, and this one’s inspired by Hanfu. Please, you have to try them on!”
After saying that, she happily left again and returned to the distant corner where she’d been standing before.
Yuzhe looked at the two outfits on the rack in front of him. Their designs were so complicated he couldn’t make heads or tails of them.
The light vanished from his eyes once more.
Yuche took out her phone again, ready for action.
Zixiao was poised to charge into the fitting room. This time, she was definitely going to help her brother change!
