Chapter 31: Leave Ye Lan Stunned for a W

Ye Lan and Yexing opened their eyes in bed, looking a little confused.

She felt like she’d had a strange dream.

She’d dreamed that she’d traveled through time to the past, and then... done some things that felt really stupid.

“Mm... never mind. I should go have breakfast first.”

Ye Lan and Yexing got up and washed up, looking utterly dejected. Their bodies felt limp, like their kidneys had given out.

Meanwhile, next door, their good neighbor Mo Tu was making breakfast with a smile on his face. He seemed to be in a pretty good mood.

As soon as he woke up that morning, a set of memories had appeared in his mind.

An ordinary person might not have noticed anything strange.

“A silver-haired little girl scolding a group of veteran Night Watchers? And two Radiant Sun Rank Night Watchers were among them? That’s hilarious.”

He’d probably be able to tease those stiff old guys about it for a long time.

Mo Tu looked at the breakfast he’d made, hesitating.

“Looks like I made too much again. Should I take some to the little ones next door? But being too friendly might seem a bit inappropriate. Never mind. I’ll take it slow.”

......

Elsewhere.

At the Night Watchers Base.

A group of Night Watchers who’d sensed something strange gathered together. The atmosphere was rather quiet.

These Night Watchers had noticed the anomaly most clearly. A very bizarre set of memories had been implanted in their minds and merged with their original memories. They’d nearly lost track of what was real.

Wang Chao was still as nonchalant as ever, though he looked quite intrigued.

“I clearly remember us getting chewed out by a little girl. She said we’d done nothing but bad things? This is too funny! Ha↑ ha↑ ha↓!”

“......”

Xiao Jin fell silent, seeming to sort through the memories in his mind.

The original memories told a complete tragedy.

But a little girl had appeared and changed the ending.

While they were surrounding Bai Yuan and Ye Qingya, a silver-haired girl had suddenly popped up and scolded them for doing nothing but bad things, making them sound like the villains.

Then she’d casually gone over to strike up a conversation with Bai Yuan.

After that, another black-haired girl had brought Bai Yu out of the hospital room where she’d been staying and put her in contact with Ye Qingya, who was Star Eclipse.

They hadn’t gotten involved in any of the events that followed. They’d just watched from the sidelines the whole time.

And because of that, the story’s ending had changed.

Ye Qingya’s death hadn’t changed, but Bai Yu’s health had improved. The Stars that should’ve shattered had somehow been forcibly replaced with another.

The key thing was, Bai Yuan hadn’t died!

That’s right. Bai Yuan was alive.

Originally, Bai Yuan had taken his own life after Ye Qingya’s death caused the Stars to lose control. But now, thanks to the two mysterious girls getting involved, he’d survived.

Now their memories told them that Bai Yuan was still alive and well. Memories of him were flooding into their minds.

These memories of the “past” kept filling in the reasons for Bai Yuan’s existence. Only the Night Watchers who’d taken part in that incident could fully sense it.

Xiao Jin began to speculate.

Someone had used a Star of a level beyond the norm to return to the past, change history, and rewrite reality.

But not much had changed.

It was as if Night Watcher Bai Yuan had suddenly dropped into the present.

Some unknown force had implanted memories of Bai Yuan into the minds of everyone connected to him, giving his existence a reasonable explanation.

And the history that followed that incident remained unchanged. It hadn’t even caused a butterfly effect.

“Damn... that’s an incredibly powerful ability.”

Xiao Jin even felt that this ability was way beyond that damn Radiant Sun Rank stuff.

That was clearly beyond the normal limits. No matter how you looked at it, it belonged in Supernova territory.

Fortunately, though, they still remembered the girl’s face and name. They weren’t completely in the dark.

Xiao Jin thought it over, then said, “Go get Bai Yuan. I want to see what’s going on with that guy.”

It wasn’t just his memories—Bai Yuan’s identity had appeared out of nowhere in the data network too, so finding him should be pretty quick.

But what Xiao Jin hadn’t expected was that they’d find a lead almost immediately.

A message came in from the personnel department.

“Boss, we found Ye Lan, and it looks like... she only joined the Night Watchers recently...”

“Huh?”

......

In a hospital room at a medical facility.

A petite girl with short silver-gray hair stood by the window, gazing outside with a gentle smile tugging at her lips.

Her body felt warm all over now.

The warmth came from the love her mother had given her, as if her mother were still right there by her side.

Life Blessing was the blessing Ye Qingya had given Bai Yu.

“Thank you, Ye Lan.”

Just then, someone rushed in through the door. It was Bai Tu, panting hard.

“Bai Yu...”

Bai Tu stared straight at Bai Yu’s petite figure, overwhelmed with emotion but afraid to believe what she was seeing.

Then Bai Yu slowly turned around and smiled gently at Bai Tu.

“Big sister, I’m all better now. You’ve worked so hard all this time.”

Bai Tu’s eyes welled with tears. She rushed over, hugged Bai Yu, and started crying.

“Waaah—”

Bai Yu froze for a moment, then hugged Bai Tu’s back and gently patted her as she said warmly, “There, there~ Be a good girl, big sis. Don’t cry. If you keep crying, I won’t be able to stop myself from crying too.”

“But... but I’m just so happy...”

“If you’re happy, you should smile more.”

“I can’t...”

“Mm~ You really are hopeless. Then I’ll lend you my shoulder, and you can cry on it for a while.”

......

Ye Lan yawned. Her eyes started to water, and she felt like she still wasn’t fully awake.

She’d eaten breakfast on the way and stopped by the Night Watchers Base afterward.

Yexing had stayed home to catch up on sleep and get some energy back.

“Mmm... I feel so tired...”

Ye Lan rubbed her eyes, then headed toward the medical department.

Next, she was going to keep Bai Yu company and chat with her.

If she could, she’d even crawl into Bai Yu’s bed and take a nap. It had to be really comfortable.

As for Ling Miao, she’d better avoid her for now.

That little loli seemed pretty hard to deal with. She was always using underhanded tricks to get one over on Ye Lan. What a little menace.

Ye Lan soon arrived outside Bai Yu’s hospital room.

“Bai Yu~ I’m here to keep you company~”

“Come in.”

Ye Lan walked into the room and saw that Bai Yu had changed into her regular clothes instead of her hospital gown.

Bai Yu also looked much more energetic. The sickly air around her had vanished, and her eyes were shining brightly.

Bai Yu gave Ye Lan a faint smile, walked over, and hugged her, gently nuzzling her cheek.

“Huh?!”

Ye Lan’s face instantly turned red. She didn’t know what to do with her hands.

“What’s going on? Why are you hugging me all of a sudden? Don’t get so close—it’s super embarrassing.”

“This is just a little thank-you. But I owe you so much that I don’t even know how to repay you. So why don’t I give you my whole life? What do you think?”

“Meow meow meow?”

Ye Lan was shook for a whole year!

“Don’t scare me, Bai Yu. You’re joking, right?”

“Mm~ Who knows? Maybe I’m serious.”

Bai Yu leaned gently against Ye Lan.

Embarrassed, Ye Lan kept backing away until she hit the wall. She had nowhere else to go.

“Hehe~”

Bai Yu rested her cheek against Ye Lan’s chest and nuzzled her affectionately.

“Thank you, my friend~”
