Chapter 23: The Strange Class President

Class Rep Hanhan feels a little different today. I can't quite put it into words, but she gives me a trace of danger. My instincts are telling me to run, fast. But this is the first time I've ever felt something like this. Should I trust it? Maybe it's just my imagination.

"Maybe this instinct is because Class Rep Hanhan is descended from demon hunters, so I'm naturally afraid of her. But that could be a good thing. Maybe she's found a way to drive the Fox Demon out of me."

After thinking it over again and again, I still decided to stay. Class Rep Hanhan usually feels cold and distant, but she's definitely not the kind of person who'd hurt me for no reason. I knew that from the day she gave me that talisman.

Even if I've turned into a monster now, Class Rep Hanhan would definitely help me.

"I'll go ask him after class. Oh, right... I just remembered Class Rep Hanhan got hit by a blood curse yesterday. I wonder if she's recovered yet. But judging by her complexion, she should be fine."

For the entire class, I didn't listen to a word the teacher said. I just kept watching Class Rep Hanhan. And the more I watched, the more suspicious things I noticed. She would turn around from time to time and adjust her schoolbag. It looked normal, but I realized she kept sneaking glances at me from the corner of her eye. Then she'd show that same mysterious, eerie smile as before. That only made me feel more and more uneasy.

After suffering through dozens of agonizing minutes, class finally ended. I had just started to get up to talk to Class Rep Hanhan, but she beat me to it and walked over first, carrying a thermos cup in her hand.

"Class Rep Hanhan, I need to—"

"Don't talk yet. Su Su, I heard you're dressed like this because you came down with chickenpox. You must be really hot, right? Here, drink some water first. I carefully prepared this myself. It's good for your body."

Class Rep Hanhan expressionlessly held out the thermos cup in her hand. There was a trace of authority beneath her icy coolness. The more she acted like that, the harder she was to refuse. It made people instinctively want to obey this queen.

"Th-Thanks..."

Since it was the class rep's kindness, I felt too awkward to refuse. So I took the thermos, unscrewed the lid, and gently pushed my mask up a little to reveal half my mouth.

"What kind of water is this? It feels kind of weird."

I sniffed it first. There wasn't any smell. Then, without even checking what color the water was, I took a small sip. It was warm, and it had this weird medicinal taste... Class Rep Hanhan really put thought into this...

"This is..."

When she saw me drink it, a faint blush finally appeared on Class Rep Hanhan's frost-cold face. She slowly walked up in front of me, rose onto her tiptoes, leaned her head toward my ear, and softly said...

"...my feelings. I made it myself, to nourish your body."

A slight warmth brushed against the base of my ear. I could hear Class Rep Hanhan's breathing, desperately restrained. I felt her getting closer and closer. Her nose was drawing in hard, like she was smelling my scent.

Finally, just when we were about to touch, Class Rep Hanhan forced herself to stop. She secretly slipped a note into my hand, then turned and left.

"I'll wait for you on the rooftop at noon after school~ 💗"

The contents of the note weren't that strange, but the handwriting and the way it was written were nothing like the cool, aloof Class Rep Hanhan at all. She even drew a pink heart at the end.

This really... kind of feels like she's going to confess to me... hehehe...

"Holy crap, Su Su, you're not hooking up with the class rep, are you?"

Seeing how close I'd gotten with the class rep, Yushan had been staring with wide eyes and didn't dare say a word. Only after Class Rep Hanhan left did she dare come over and talk to me.

"What do you mean hooking up? Can you not make it sound so awful?"

I shot Yushan a look, feeling a little annoyed by the way she said it.

"Don't say I didn't warn you. No guy who gets involved with Class Rep Hanhan ever ends well."

Yushan looked around, and after making sure no one was paying attention, she lowered her voice and whispered to me.

"What do you mean?"

"You know that rich second-gen from Class Three? He tried chasing Class Rep Hanhan before and got rejected. Later, out of humiliation and anger, he found a few guys to block her after school. But after that..."

"What happened after that? Hurry up and say it."

"After that, that rich kid never came to school again. But Class Rep Hanhan acted like nothing happened and kept attending class as usual."

"So what? Maybe she called the police and he got arrested."

"That would've been fine. But a couple days ago, someone saw that rich kid. He... looked like he'd been crippled before. Even though there were signs he'd been treated, you could still tell his arms and legs had been broken before."

The more Yushan talked, the creepier it sounded. But what did any of that have to do with Class Rep Hanhan?

"Are you saying Class Rep Hanhan was the one who crippled him? Cut it out. His family has some influence in this city. If that boss saw his son get crippled, would he really let Hanhan keep going to school in peace? It had to be some kind of accident..."

"Believe it or don't. So many guys confessed to Class Rep Hanhan before, and didn't all of them disappear in the end? You'd better be careful."
