Chapter 35: The Joy of Shopping

After messing around for a while, the three of them straightened their clothes a little and followed the underground shopping street until they found a place that was supposedly really good.

But Feng Yijiu suddenly realized something...

Her stomach seemed to have been spoiled by a certain someone at home who was way too good at cooking.

“Wow, Yijiu, you eat so little.” Zhou Wenyao looked at the small half-bowl of food she still had left and couldn’t help saying it.

“It’s nothing. I didn’t eat much at noon.” Feng Yijiu smiled, then picked up the bottle of iced cola she’d just bought and started chugging it down. After all, at home, Sister Cenman never liked preparing this kind of stuff for her.

Happiness +1 +1 +1...

Feng Yijiu had no idea this was the peak of her happiness for the day.

“Qingqing, what exactly are you guys trying to buy?” Feng Yijiu trailed behind them numbly. She couldn’t even bear to throw away the empty cola bottle in her hand. Her whole body practically radiated defeat.

That’s right. Ever since lunch, after a short break, until now, almost four in the afternoon, they simply had not stopped...

If it were Feng Yijiu’s own style, once she knew what she wanted, she’d walk into the first store, go straight to the point, take a look, ask the price, do a quick calculation, and buy it if it felt right. If not, she’d move on to the next shop...

Anyway, it definitely wouldn’t take more than twenty minutes to solve the problem.

But...

Right now, Feng Yijiu felt like these two goddess-tier sisters weren’t here to solve a problem.

They were here to solve her.

“Ah, we’re not really planning to buy anything,” Qingqing said casually. “We’re just looking around, seeing if there’s anything we like. If there is, we can come back and buy it later. Of course, if we see something nice, we can buy it now too.”

“Miss, how about ten yuan for this pendant?” Qingqing waved at the shop owner and plunged into yet another round of bargaining.

Feng Yijiu lowered her head. She’d originally thought Qingqing bargained because she planned to buy things, but in reality...

Feng Yijiu glanced at the excited Zhou Wenyao beside her and completely gave up.

“Eh, Yijiu, look. This little pendant seems perfect for you!” Qingqing took out a little cat pendant. “Look, doesn’t it look like your Little Orange?”

Feng Yijiu took the pendant listlessly. It really did.

Like an upgraded version of Little Orange.

“This one’s twenty yuan.” The shop owner smiled warmly.

“Five!” Qingqing said before Feng Yijiu could even open her mouth.

“How could it be that cheap? It costs more than that wholesale. At most I can knock off five yuan.” The owner shook her head.

Feng Yijiu decisively took out her phone and scanned the QR code nearby. “Then fifteen.”

“Deal. Nice and straightforward, little miss.” The owner beamed.

...

“Yijiu, I feel like that pendant could’ve been bargained down to five yuan.” Qingqing still looked unwilling to let it go as they left the shop.

“Well... it’s fine as long as I like it.” Feng Yijiu shook the pendant in her hand. But honestly, she didn’t really care about these little trinkets. That fifteen yuan was just her paying to end it faster.

After all, they were already almost at the other end of the shopping street.

And just as Feng Yijiu was filled with joy, the two girls suddenly turned and ducked into a small alley.

“Yijiu, this way. The main road outside is too dusty.” Zhou Wenyao waved at the slightly dazed Feng Yijiu.

“Ah... mm—” Feng Yijiu felt like all the bones in her body were about to fall apart. Sure enough, just as she’d expected, once they came out of the alley, there was another brand-new shopping street.

Feng Yijiu closed her eyes. The sunlight felt blindingly harsh.

What a sin!

And what made her feel even worse was that the previous street had at least been full of little knickknacks.

This side, though, seemed to be one long row of clothing stores.

Clothing stores!

Looking at the smiling salesgirls standing at the entrances, Feng Yijiu’s body swayed. Her vision went black.

“Yijiu, what’s wrong?” Zhou Wenyao caught her and asked with concern.

Feng Yijiu’s mind moved. “Um... I’m not feeling too well. How about you two keep shopping, and I’ll wait for you at that big Golden Arches up ahead?”

“You okay?”

“I’m fine. It’s just... I had some injuries before... Didn’t I skip military training this semester, and PE too? It was because of that.” Feng Yijiu looked completely serious. Combined with how shaky she’d looked just now, she successfully escaped disaster.

Sitting in a chair, lightly basking in the air conditioning, taking a sip of iced cola, then picking up a long fry and slurping it into her mouth like she was smoking it, Feng Yijiu finally felt like she’d come back to life.

After casually clipping the pendant she’d just bought onto her backpack, Feng Yijiu took out her phone and logged into the game. All her friends were grayed out, but when she saw Li Hao’s rank, her brows lifted.

He was Diamond V again?

Looks like these past few days, he’d finally learned what balancing work and rest meant. Feng Yijiu nodded and stopped paying attention to it, starting her solo queue journey instead.

Honestly, her favorite role was still top lane. And maybe because she’d become younger after transmigrating, plus all the piano practice, her hand speed had gotten much faster too.

Tap!

Feng Yijiu almost insta-locked a hero.

A girl’s heart is like the path of a baseball.

You can’t predict it.

Maybe because she wanted to vent the frustration from being dragged around shopping, Feng Yijiu played this match especially aggressively. Controlling Mulan, she flashed at level one to dodge the enemy Lü Bu’s second first-skill slash, then chained a full combo with basic attacks and directly took first blood.

And after getting beaten silly like that, how could the enemy Lü Bu possibly be a match for Feng Yijiu, whose hands were practically on fire?

He was basically reduced to a living target dummy for Mulan combo practice.

...

Li Hao had just finished a set of practice papers. He stretched and opened the game, only to find that Feng Yijiu was already mid-match. Curious, he immediately chose to spectate.

Watching a weak early-game Mulan solo-kill the enemy Lü Bu and then almost pin him down the whole time, Li Hao got drawn in.

And very soon, during that level-six fight where Mulan went one-versus-three, used Flash to abuse the brush vision at the absolute limit, and got a triple kill with a sliver of HP left, Li Hao was completely dumbfounded.

He didn’t understand all the finer details, but that didn’t stop him from being utterly shocked.

So this was the secret to climbing rank?

After watching, Li Hao couldn’t wait to pull out his own Mulan too.

Time for sis to show some high-level mechanics!

At level one, he successfully flashed a skill...

But not long after, his scrambling, tumbling Mulan got cleanly taken down by the enemy Lü Bu.

And the naked question mark Lü Bu sent in all-chat made Li Hao feel like he was about to suffocate.

He’d learned it.

Just not very much.

If Feng Yijiu had seen it, she would’ve noticed right away:

first, this idiot wasn’t even using a skin;

second, he bought boots at the start;

third, what kind of cursed arcana setup was that?

If he could solo-kill with that, then that really would’ve been a miracle.

“Hey, seriously, after all these years, how are your skills still this bad? You’re so trash.” Feng Yijiu tossed her phone aside. Still not over it, she stretched out one long, fair leg and kicked a certain pig teammate in the back with about thirty percent of her strength.

“Can you even do it or not?” There was a trace of annoyance in her voice.

Li Hao’s response was simple and direct. He stood up, then turned off the light.

“Eh... eh?!”

“I can,” Li Hao’s voice was already right by her ear. “First, you need displacement and footwork.”

As he spoke, his hands seemed to treat two parts of Feng Yijiu like control sticks, and her face turned red almost instantly.

“No, I can’t tonight...” Feng Yijiu buried her head under the pillow.

“That won’t do. I haven’t even demonstrated the combo yet...”
