“Alright, hurry up and bring that new young lady girlfriend of yours to queue up for a game! I’ve been waiting forever!”

Li Wei hung up the moment he finished speaking—no chance for Xiao Feng to explain.

Xiao Feng listened to the beeping dial tone, glanced across the street at Li Wei grinning like a fool, and let out a helpless sigh before slipping the phone into his pocket.

“Changxi… um… I’m heading to the internet cafe with my buddy now. So… we should probably…”

He didn’t finish the sentence, but the meaning was clear: *Let’s call it a day.*

Situ Changxi didn’t reply. Instead, she fiddled bashfully with her slender fingers and murmured,

“Um… can I come too?”

As if sensing it lacked weight, she quickly added, “Didn’t I promise to treat you to bubble tea?!”

Xiao Feng smiled awkwardly at her rosy cheeks—sun-kissed or shy, he couldn’t tell.

“Wait, didn’t you already treat me to that two-hundred-dollar mineral water? Bubble tea’s really not necessary.”

Situ Changxi shook her head firmly. “No. I said I’d treat you, and I will. We keep our word.”

*Xiao Feng stared at her determined face. Does this young lady have to be this stubborn?*

He didn’t refuse. She meant well—why be ungrateful?

“Okay… but after bubble tea, I’m gaming. You wouldn’t wanna come along too, right?”

Big mistake. Situ Changxi nodded eagerly. “Mm-hmm! I’ve always wondered what an internet cafe’s like. Never been!”

*Xiao Feng mentally slapped his own mouth. Jinxed it again.*

The two bodyguards behind her instantly panicked.

“Miss Situ! Internet cafes are crowded—you’d stand out too much. And it’s risky! If the boss finds out, we’re finished!”

Xiao Feng jumped in, nodding hard. “Yeah, Changxi—you’re so cute, and with two bodyguards? Way too noticeable. Maybe skip it?”

Situ Changxi tilted her head. “Hmm… am I *that* noticeable?”

Relief washed over Xiao Feng and the guards—until her next words froze them.

“Then… let the uncles wait in the car? Just you and me go in. Less noticeable, right?”

The bodyguards blinked in shock. Xiao Feng reacted first.

*“Good heavens, Miss Situ! Do you have to put me through this? Who could handle this?!”*

A thousand wild horses stampeded through his mind.

If something happened without the guards… was *he* liable?

And her—looking like she stepped straight out of an anime—walking into an internet cafe? Every gamer inside would stare wide-eyed. How could he even focus?

Truth was, he had zero right to stop her. They’d only known each other days. Her friendliness was all on her end. Could he really give her the cold shoulder and tell her to scram?

“Miss Situ, please—we’re responsible for your safety! We can’t let you go that far alone!” the guards pleaded, sweat beading on their brows. They couldn’t force her. That’d be suicide.

Situ Changxi softened, glancing at Xiao Feng. “Then… wait outside the cafe? That’s okay, right?”

Seeing her resolve, the guards sighed and turned to Xiao Feng, bowing slightly.

“Mr. Xiao Feng—please, watch over Miss Situ inside.”

What could he say? Refuse?
