Chapter 42: S-Rank Raid – The Lawless Ex
update icon Updated at 2026/1/10 14:30:02

"Lady Lilianne, will they really come?"

The maid lowered her head and asked Lilianne beside her.

Of course, an S-Class Raid should be finished as quickly as possible. Timing requires careful calculation. Unlike school classes or simulation drills, Dungeon Instances run 24/7.

The most dangerous moment is right after clearing an S-Class Raid. That’s when they’re weakest. So entering such raids always demands a safe time slot.

It was the dead of night. Lights in the school building and club rooms were all dark. A few streetlights illuminated a path, but the scene still felt eerie.

The maid still harbored slight doubts about Lin Zhong’s group—not about their strength, but their character. In the club area, no one could claim to be purely good.

She genuinely worried Lin Zhong might set some kind of trap.

"They’re here!"

Lilianne didn’t answer. Instead, she lifted her head toward the club activity zone.

Under the streetlights, six figures came into view.

Lin Zhong led the way. His hood was down. A cat’s head peeked from his shoulder bag. Perched on his shoulder was that pure white ‘Husky’.

Beside him stood Freya and Su Han of NO.3, plus Alice—who’d always drawn their attention. Behind them were Aester, Sebastian, and Charlotte, whom the maid had never heard of.

"I’m here. Is this all you’ve got?" Lin Zhong blinked. Only the three girls and the maid stood beside Lilianne—just like last time in their activity room.

"Don’t underestimate them." Lilianne smiled mysteriously. She stepped aside, letting Lin Zhong stand beside her at the front.

"Is this the raid entrance?" Lin Zhong stared at the Dungeon Instance portal. Unlike the red-and-white cube outside the school building, this raid gate glowed faintly blue.

"Of course!" Lilianne held her phone under the door’s scanner.

As notifications flashed on everyone’s phones, the giant door slowly opened. Behind it lay endless darkness—not the club area.

A path of light cut through the blackness.

"Let’s go." Lilianne nodded.

"Mhm."

As they entered, the door closed behind them. Beams of light pierced the darkness.

Beneath them sat stone coffins, chests, and a katana embedded in the ground.

Bang!

All coffins burst open simultaneously. The chilling aura of Snowfall Thousand Chills spread. Pages turned audibly in Sage Thousand Thoughts’ coffins nearby.

Aester’s Exclusive Weapon was a cross. Su Han’s was her revolver, Golden Flash.

Aester stepped forward and pulled the cross from its coffin.

Divine Grace—that was its name. It looked no bigger than a necklace. She slowly tied its chain around her wrist.

A holy aura radiated from the silver cross. Lin Zhong drew Snowfall Thousand Chills. Alice took Sage Thousand Thoughts. Su Han pulled out Golden Flash.

Four Exclusive Weapons—that was top-tier gear for any club. But when Lin Zhong glanced at Lilianne again, his calm face flickered with unease.

Countless light beams shone around her. The sheer number left Fool’s Court dumbfounded. Stone coffins alone numbered over ten.

Over ten Exclusive Weapons? Unimaginable to Lin Zhong. Such weapons were granted based on aptitude during enrollment.

No other way existed to obtain them. They were personally bound—you couldn’t even give them away.

So the question arose: how did she get them? Stone coffins symbolized Exclusive Weapons. A single glance revealed over ten, not counting the unseen ones.

Lilianne walked gracefully like a lady to one coffin. She pulled out a light silver rifled musket.

She still wore her red gown. Every movement exuded extraordinary grace. She raised the musket slightly and smiled at Lin Zhong.

"Let’s go."

She lowered her hand and walked slowly toward the path’s end. Lin Zhong followed.

At the sound, everyone stepped out. Unlike the entrance, no grand door marked the exit. The surrounding darkness merged seamlessly with the dungeon.

A narrow alley stretched before them. The sky was gloomy, drizzling lightly. Lin Zhong turned to both sides. The alley split two worlds.

Behind them lay a prosperous city. The other side was utter ruins. Polar opposites—the ruins mirrored the city’s dark underbelly.

A faint white barrier shielded the prosperous side.

"As expected, an invisible wall." Lilianne nodded toward it. The map was named Lawless Land. That bright side was the city’s facade. Naturally, the dark side earned its name.

Lin Zhong gripped his War Spear and walked toward the ruins. Raindrops pattered on his shoulder. Snow White slowly lifted its head.

Its usually gentle face showed a rare trace of anger. It seemed to hate this place.

"Snow White?" Lin Zhong noticed its unnatural expression. Raindrops soaked its fur, but he saw the fierce glint from before.

Yet it stayed perched on his shoulder.

"Let’s go."
