After all, Jiang Fan had said those words, so Mu Yuli couldn’t keep bluffing anymore. Soon after breakfast, Yelan drove them to school under Mu Huaishi’s watchful gaze.
Inside Mu Yuli’s luxury car, the air felt thick enough to wring out like a wet towel.
Yelan sat rigidly upright, eyes fixed straight ahead like a robot. Beside him in the passenger seat, Mu Yuli wore a Japanese-style JK uniform. Her legs, clad in black over-the-knee socks, were elegantly crossed. Arms folded and face dark with anger, she leaned back—anyone might think she was proctoring Yelan’s driving test.
Meanwhile, Jiang Fan, the culprit behind it all, was sound asleep in the backseat.
Spotting him snoring in the rearview mirror, Mu Yuli’s pretty face darkened further. Without turning, she snatched a magazine from the seat and hurled it backward. But Jiang Fan just happened to roll over, dodging it by sheer luck.
He even fumbled for the magazine, rolled it up, and used it as a pillow. Seeing this, Mu Yuli ground her teeth in fury.
“Yelan,” she ordered coldly, “give him a sudden brake later.”
Did she think she couldn’t control him just because she hadn’t roared yet?
Want to sleep? Dream on!
Yelan never disobeyed her. He shot Jiang Fan an apologetic glance through the mirror, then slammed the accelerator. The car sped down the road.
A red light loomed ahead. The car’s solid build meant no risk of failing to stop—but the sudden speed jolted Jiang Fan awake.
“Are we on the highway…? Why so fast…?” he yawned, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
His answer was a sharp brake. Awake now, he sat up just in time to avoid rolling off the seat. But his head still cracked against the front seat, shaking off most of his drowsiness.
Mu Yuli burst into delighted laughter, her earlier gloom vanishing. Clearly, seeing Jiang Fan flustered thrilled her.
Jiang Fan knew exactly whose idea this was. But he was in the wrong. Provoking Mu Yuli while she was furious might invite worse trouble, so he stayed silent.
Anyway, he’d already earned 50,000 points. By any calculation, he’d won.
The options that had appeared at Mu Yuli’s house earlier were from his system. No clear trigger—just popping up every few days.
Jiang Fan disliked relying on it, but since he had it, he’d use it. Paying off his debts made it indispensable.
For the rest of the ride, Jiang Fan didn’t try to sleep again. Surprisingly, Mu Yuli didn’t mess with him either. By the time they reached school, he wondered if she’d dozed off too.
Jiang Fan had wanted to get out early. Though not in his usual low-key clothes, walking with Mu Yuli would draw endless attention. If recognized, his peaceful daily life would vanish.
But Mu Yuli ignored him. Since she didn’t speak, Yelan dared not act on his own. They ended up getting out together.
Luckily, it was already 8:30 a.m. First period was underway, and the campus was nearly empty.
They showed their student IDs to a starstruck security guard. Even without uniforms, they slipped inside smoothly.
The moment they entered, Jiang Fan ditched Mu Yuli and headed straight for his classroom. She was in the honors class; he was in a regular one. No need to walk together.
But Mu Yuli grabbed his arm. Jiang Fan turned, puzzled. What was she scheming now?
“Aren’t you tired? Come with me to the student council room. Sleeping there’s way comfier than in class.”
“Nope. I’m wide awake now. I’m all about studying hard and aiming high. Don’t ruin my college prep.”
Her odd behavior put him on guard. In the car, he’d suspected her quietness meant she’d plot something at school. He wasn’t naive enough to think she’d forgiven him already.
“Just come when I say so! So many complaints!”
Mu Yuli rolled her eyes beautifully and yanked Jiang Fan toward the student activity center.
“Hey, let’s be reasonable! Guys and girls shouldn’t be this close—it’s improper! Students should focus on studying. Skipping class yourself is bad enough, but dragging a motivated youth down with you? You’re sabotaging my future!”
Jiang Fan struggled, his face screaming reluctance.
Seriously, if he ended up alone with her in the student council room, she’d pull some humiliating stunt. Like locking him in an air-conditioner-free room all day, or hypnotizing him, drawing on his face, and calling a crowd to watch…
Don’t ask how he knew—he’d lived it. He’d never relive that.
Seeing his resistance, Mu Yuli’s patience snapped. Her brows furrowed; her gaze turned sharp.
“Seems you really don’t learn… Come. With. Me.”
“No!”
“Last time. Come. With. Me.”
“I! Won’t!”
After Jiang Fan’s repeated defiance, Mu Yuli’s face darkened completely. Being forced to come to school because of him had already frayed her nerves. Now he was defying her? She’d planned only a “light lesson,” but now he needed full “education”…
“Huh? Jiang Fan, why are you dressed like this today? And who’s this beside you…? Is she the girlfriend you mentioned?”
As Mu Yuli pondered how to handle Jiang Fan, a confused voice cut in. She turned toward the sound. There stood a pretty girl in ripped jeans and a gray tank top, staring at them curiously.
Lin Mengyao’s eyes flickered with awe at Mu Yuli, who held Jiang Fan’s arm intimately.
No wonder he’d rejected her—he had such a stunning girlfriend…
But then irritation flooded her. How could he chase others with a girlfriend like this? Greedy scumbag. A total player, tricking girls’ feelings!
Fuming, Lin Mengyao hatched a plan. She let out a heartbroken sigh, staring at Mu Yuli.
“Sigh… Miss, you probably don’t know his true colors yet. How pitiful.”
Hmph. Time to expose your real face!
