After leaving the Goran Grand Cemetery, it was deep into the night. Nina and I checked into a luxury hotel for the night.
The next day, I eagerly rushed to Spark Forge, ready to sell Frostmourne for a high price.
"Uncle Riley! I’ve got a fine sword for you! Huh? Little girl, it’s you again."
I entered the forge and found Sally with twin tails still behind the counter. Spotting me, she jumped off her chair and dashed into the backyard.
Riley then limped out. Seeing me, his eyes widened instantly.
"You again, kid? What, another pile of gear to sell?"
"No, no—just one item this time. Don’t get shocked, Uncle."
I pulled Frostmourne from my storage space. Its transparent blade radiated biting cold, and the forge’s temperature plummeted sharply.
I tossed the weapon to Riley. He examined Frostmourne closely, his face full of disbelief.
"This? A god-tier weapon! Where’d you get it, kid?"
"Snatched it from some show-off. Spit out the price!"
I chuckled inwardly. This blade was clearly priceless—Riley’s shock meant millions of gold coins, easy.
Hahaha, I’d soon return to a life of luxury. Just thinking about it made me drool.
"20,000 gold coins. Final offer."
20,000 gold coins! Hahaha, rich at last! Wait—20,000? Did I mishear?
"Uncle Riley, did you miss a zero?"
"No. This sword’s worth at most 20,000."
Riley stated flatly. I plummeted from heaven to hell.
"What the hell! You swindler! Such a powerful weapon for just 20,000? Think I’m an idiot?"
"Hmph! 20,000 is generous. This blade reeks of evil. Anyone wielding it faces the Church’s Paladins in endless pursuit."
"So it must be melted down. One Ice Dragon spine bone, one millennia-old ice marrow—rare, but not unbuyable materials."
Riley’s lecture left me stunned speechless. But he wasn’t one to lie.
"Fine. 20,000. Deal."
I left the forge dejectedly, clutching two golden cards—Adventurers’ Guild-issued gold cards for large trades, each worth 10,000 gold coins.
Next, I headed to the Adventurers’ Guild to report my quest.
"I found massive necrotic flower plantings on the third level of the underground crypt."
"Thank you for the intel. For completing a special quest, your rank upgrades from F to E. We appreciate your contribution and await your future activity."
The same receptionist greeted me with identical formal lines. Only her puzzled gaze differed—likely wondering why I looked so dejected after a successful quest.
Back at the hotel, I threw myself fiercely into Nina’s arms, inhaling deeply her comforting scent. In this materialistic world, perhaps only her soft warmth held any solace.
