3. Oh, My Junior Actually Cares!

"Am I hallucinating? The campus goddess is actually... giving ice cream to a guy?"

"No way. Hallucination. This has to be a hallucination. Hahahaha..."

"Hold on. Doesn’t this seem suspicious? She never interacts with guys, yet she’s handing him ice cream. He must be her relative."

"Exactly. This freshman is just a tiny bit handsome, a tiny bit fair-skinned, and a tiny bit tall—nothing special."

After heated debate, everyone concluded Chenghao was definitely Yexinran’s relative, entrusted by family to look after him.

To every male student at East Sea University, Yexinran was a sacred, untouchable presence.

How could an angel like her ever date a guy?

Especially a pretty boy like Chenghao, who had nothing but good looks. How could he deserve their holy goddess?

Right! It had to be that way!

Chenghao felt thick killing intent swirling around him. Everyone glared at him like predators, making him feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.

He swallowed hard, sweat sliding down his forehead, legs trembling nonstop. One wrong word might cost him his life.

"Stay calm. Absolutely calm. Or I might actually die here!" Chenghao reminded himself fiercely.

As an East Sea student, he knew Yexinran’s influence well. Her favor seemed sweet, but one misstep would make him public enemy number one among all guys.

He just wanted a peaceful college life, then to date his childhood sweetheart. No crashing now.

He had to stay steady. Rock-solid steady!

Taking a deep breath, Chenghao stepped back two paces, putting distance between them. He forced a smile more painful than crying.

"Senior... we don’t know each other, right?"

"You... heh... don’t know me? What’s the problem?"

"Why give me ice cream then? I haven’t offended you."

Yexinran’s bright smile froze. She stood dumbfounded, as if her brain had short-circuited.

After a long pause, she snapped back, grinning again.

"Because... you look just like my late little brother."

*Looks like your dead brother? What kind of BS is this?*

*I bet you’re messing with me, Gian!*

Outwardly rock-solid, Chenghao was panicking like crazy inside.

Only an idiot would buy such a lame excuse.

Just as he finished that thought, the silent playground erupted again.

"Phew. I knew the campus goddess wouldn’t date."

"Never expected she’d been through that. So tragic."

"Yeah. If it were me, I’d probably kidnap him to keep at home."

"Wait... isn’t she from a single-parent family?"

"You must be mistaken. She wouldn’t joke about something like this."

Hearing Yexinran’s words, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as she wasn’t dating, all was well. They knew they’d never win her, but they couldn’t bear the thought of her with someone else.

Thankfully, it was a false alarm.

Watching the crowd’s thoughtful reactions, Chenghao started doubting reality.

*Seriously? You actually believe this?*

*Where on earth do I look like her? This is obviously made up...*

But it worked. Her excuse made everything logical. He wouldn’t become enemy number one. Just play along and he’d slip through.

Relieved, Chenghao took the ice cream and whispered gently,

"I see. I’m sorry for your loss, Senior. Time heals all wounds. Don’t be too sad."

Yexinran’s lips curled up slightly. A sly glint flashed in her bright eyes as she teased playfully,

"I’m not sad. I made it up. You actually believed me?"

Her voice was soft, but everyone nearby heard it.

Chenghao’s stress skyrocketed. Students glared at him murderously from all sides.

If looks could kill, he’d have died a hundred times over.

"DAMN IT! I’m so jealous!"

"And since when does the campus goddess act like that? I’ve never seen her so sweet."

"Could it be... our goddess is actually dating?"

"Defiling our sacred goddess? UNFORGIVABLE! We’re taking him out tonight!"

Cold sweat drenched Chenghao. After Yexinran left, they might really beat him to death.

But why give him ice cream? He didn’t even know her!

His heart thumped wildly, ready to burst from his chest.

Whatever her goal, he had to get rid of her fast. If she stayed, he’d die before even meeting Yezihan.

Forcing an awkward smile, Chenghao murmured lowly,

"Um... Senior, we’re about to start military training. If you’ve got nothing else, maybe head back to your dorm?"

"Am I bothering you? Should I go?" Yexinran pouted, pointing at herself like a scolding girlfriend.

"Did I just see the campus goddess pout?"

"Impossible. I must be dreaming. She’d never act like that."

"No way. No way. I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy! Hahahaha..."

Rumors said Yexinran hated men. Unconfirmed, but she never touched guys. Everyone assumed she was into girls.

Now they witnessed the impossible: their dream goddess not only gave ice cream to a freshman but also pouted at him.

This wasn’t just mind-blowing—it shattered their entire worldview!

"Senior, no! I’m not kicking you out. I just... it’s so hot. You’ll get sunburned."

Chenghao grasped the danger but couldn’t tell her to scram. He had to be polite.

To his horror, she misunderstood.

"Oh... my junior cares about me? Good boy."

Yexinran nodded approvingly, ruffling his hair like a beloved pet.

"Since you’re worried, I’ll leave now. I’ll visit when I’m free, okay?"

With that, she skipped away lightly, leaving everyone frozen in the wind.

Watching Yexinran’s retreating figure and the thick killing intent around him, Chenghao lifted his head helplessly. A tear of regret slid down his cheek as he whispered,

"My college life... hasn’t even started... and it’s already over?"
