A red sports car parked by the beach. Lin Ning stepped out.
She shielded her eyes from the sun, scanning the bustling shore.
"He’s never taken me here voluntarily before~"
Muttering, she pulled on a hat, mask, and sunglasses, covering her face completely.
Barefoot on the sand, she searched for Su Shui.
Before spotting him, a police officer approached.
"Ma’am, please cooperate with our investigation!"
He snapped a salute and flashed his badge.
Startled, Lin Ning fumbled out her ID and driver’s license, shoving them at him.
"Take off all that gear too!"
He pointed at her face coverings. She ripped them off instantly.
After checking her documents, he sighed. "Why dress like a fugitive at the beach?"
"I’ve got a cold!" Lin Ning beamed, reassembling her disguise.
"Take care," he said, saluting before leaving.
"Su Shui, this is all your fault!"
...
Wandering the hot beach, Lin Ning stayed fully covered while others wore swimsuits.
She wiped sweat, then glugged iced cola from a large bottle. "Ahhh~~~"
Hearing screams from a nearby ride, she frowned. "He should be here. Where’d he go?"
She doubted Su Shui would ride it—the iron ball whooshed violently upward.
"Coward like him? No way."
A familiar voice cut in: "I don’t want to go up!"
Lin Ning turned. Su Shui clung to a lamppost as Su Qing tugged him.
"Holy crap!" Lin Ning spun away, adjusting her mask and sunglasses.
She eavesdropped from the shadows.
"I even want kids with Lin Ning..." Su Shui said.
Her face flushed. "Pervert! Who’d have kids with you?" she thought, already picturing their future children. "Better they look like me—Su Shui’s ugly. But build like him. He can take a punch."
Su Shui and Su Qing reached the ride platform. Lin Ning followed.
"Sir, just sit with your girlfriend or she’ll get mad," a staffer urged.
Lin Ning seethed. "Girlfriend? They’re not a couple!" She pulled out a notebook.
Scribbling furiously: "Su Shui called Su Qing’s boyfriend and liked it—one hour on washboard."
The wind flipped pages, revealing past entries:
"Su Shui spent secretly on gacha—half hour on washboard."
"Su Shui watched inappropriate videos—one week on couch."
"Su Shui hid pocket money—no allowance next month."
This notebook was Su Shui’s nightmare.
A "plop" sounded above.
"No way..." Lin Ning looked up, bracing for disaster.
Su Shui’s flip-flop had fallen. (Just kidding, happy~)
She snatched it and tossed it in a trash bin. "Hmph~ Serves you right. Walk barefoot!"
Hiding nearby, she watched Su Shui tumble down the ride in panic.
"Scared yet you went? Idiot!"
He hopped on one leg, shoeless, trembling against the wall.
"What a fool!" Lin Ning raced back to the bin—but the shoe was gone. She bought a replacement pair.
Panting, she returned to see Su Qing arm-in-arm with Su Shui. He grinned stupidly; she looked blissful.
"Idiot!" Lin Ning growled, hurling the flip-flop.
It spun and smacked Su Shui’s head.
"Ouch! Who litters?!" He spotted the shoe at his feet.
"Bro, isn’t this yours?" Su Qing asked.
"Yeah, what’s happening?!" Su Shui shouted, waving the shoe. "Whose shoe flew? Watch your stuff!"
Crowd stared like he was crazy, glancing at his bare foot.
"Fine, it’s mine then." He dropped it but hesitated.
"Just wear it!" Su Qing nudged him.
"This... isn’t for my missing foot."
Watching from afar, Lin Ning checked the shoe in her hand and slapped her forehead. "Crap, wrong one!"
She watched Su Shui force his foot in and limp away. "Serves you right."
...
Su Shui and Su Qing ate chow mein with shaved ice.
Lin Ning sat behind them, glaring at their weird combo. "Eat junk when I’m gone? Get diarrhea."
A bikini-clad waitress stood awkwardly beside her. "Um... what’ll you have?"
"Huh?!" Lin Ning shot her a sharp look.
"Eep~" The waitress squeaked.
"Iced milk tea," Lin Ning muttered.
"O-okay!" The waitress dashed off. "Boss! One iced milk tea! This customer’s terrifying!"
