Slurp~ slurp~
Su Shui, with dark circles under both eyes, sat before his computer, slurping instant noodles.
On the screen, his continuous gaming time had exceeded thirty hours.
With Lin Ning away, Su Shui let loose. Sleep was out of the question; gaming was the sweetest!
Piles of empty instant noodle cups surrounded him, the broth inside starting to turn sour.
"Shuishui, I can’t take it anymore! I really can’t hold on. You keep going on your own!"
In his earphones, a soft, cute voice, full of exhaustion, bid Su Shui farewell.
"Don’t go yet! Play a bit longer—I finally have no one watching over me!" Su Shui pleaded with his comrade-in-arms on the other end.
This was a netizen Su Shui had known for ages, who’d followed him through many games.
Though they’d never met, and the voice was always soft and cute, Su Shui was certain this netizen was a man.
What girl would spend all day gaming with him like a true internet addict?
"I can’t anymore, too sleepy~"
Before the mic was off, steady breathing came through the earphones.
"What a weakling!" Su Shui turned off the mic, ready for the next match.
"Matching in progress…"
Before the game started, Su Shui’s head dropped into the noodle bowl on the table, and he snored away.
In-game teammates saw their motionless ally and cursed in the chat.
Sadly, it was all wasted; Su Shui slept like a dead pig.
Just as Su Shui slept soundly with his face in the bowl, the door suddenly opened.
"Su Shui, I came to get my…"
It was Lin Ning. She’d been staying at Liu Shuang’s place, racking her brains for an excuse to come home.
Finally, she had no clean underwear left. Liu Shuang and she had washed a big basket of clothes together, only to realize they’d left none to change into.
They struggled with hair dryers to dry the washed underwear, then wore them.
"Let’s go buy some. This was just an accident~" Liu Shuang said awkwardly, pulling Lin Ning toward the door.
"You even said, ‘Leave laundry to me~’, and now we have no underwear~" Lin Ning looked at Liu Shuang with a grievous gaze.
"This was really an accident! Believe me~"
"Su Shui at least remembers laundry. You’re worse than him…" Lin Ning complained, and Liu Shuang stood there obediently.
"So let’s buy a couple of new ones~"
Lin Ning’s eyes lit up, and she suddenly perked up.
"No need. I’ll go home to get some!" she said. Previously curled on the sofa, she now jumped up, happily grabbing her coat and heading out.
Liu Shuang watched her, then said softly, "How did you suddenly get so energetic? Weren’t you not wanting to go out~"
"No choice. I have no underwear to wear~"
"Isn’t it to see someone~ Someone I can’t compare to~"
Seeing Liu Shuang’s sly smile, Lin Ning stood blushing. "I just like my old ones! Who are you talking about?"
"Who knows~"
Lin Ning dragged Liu Shuang out, stuffed her into the car, started the engine, and floored the accelerator.
Screech~ whoosh!
A red sports car sped down the road. Liu Shuang inside nearly had a heart attack.
She clutched the handrail tightly, tears welling up. "Slow down! Su Shui’s just a homebody; he won’t run away~"
What was normally a ten-minute drive took five minutes. They stood under Su Shui’s building.
"Let’s go! Weren’t you coming back for clothes!" Liu Shuang started upstairs but Lin Ning grabbed her arm.
Lin Ning looked conflicted at the building, hesitating.
"What’s wrong? Weren’t you in a hurry just now?"
"But what should I say when I see him?" Lin Ning looked troubled, gazing pitifully at Liu Shuang.
"What can’t you two talk about?"
"But we’re divorced. Won’t he think I can’t live without him?"
"No way. Go up with a stern face, ignore him. He’ll panic first."
Liu Shuang comforted her for ages. Finally, Lin Ning mustered courage and walked into the building.
On the eighth floor, before the door, her courage dissipated.
She fumbled with the keys, then turned to run.
"Let’s just buy new ones!"
Liu Shuang grabbed her waist, refusing to let go. "We’ve come this far; no turning back!"
"I don’t want to! Let me go!"
They struggled in the hallway. The elevator stopped, and an old neighbor stepped out.
"Oh, Xiao Ning, what’s this…"
"Hello, Uncle Liu. This is my friend! Visiting my place~" Lin Ning said awkwardly, fumbling with the keys.
"Really, let me!" Liu Shuang snatched the keys, opened the door, and dragged Lin Ning inside.
Lin Ning’s eyes fell on the living room coffee table, covered with beer cans.
Her uneasy expression instantly turned fierce, radiating killing intent.
"What has this bastard been doing while I’m away?!"
Silently, she tossed snack bags and smelly socks from the sofa aside, heading to the kitchen.
The kitchen reeked of instant noodles. In the fridge, pre-divorce vegetables and fruits emitted a rotten smell.
Liu Shuang followed behind, watching Lin Ning’s darkening face, not daring to speak.
Lin Ning pushed open the bedroom door. Despite the sunny day, curtains were drawn. Only the computer screen lit the room.
She saw Su Shui with his head buried in a noodle cup. She reached to lift him up.
Looking up, she saw his game screen.
Just then, a big line of text appeared:
"Your wife Yunmo has gone offline…"
"Heh, heh heh heh~"
A terrifying laugh came from Lin Ning. Liu Shuang trembled at the door.
"To hell with you!"
Lin Ning placed Su Shui’s head back into the cup and quietly walked out.
"Xiao Ning, where are you going?"
"Nothing, just getting something~"
Lin Ning silently walked into the kitchen. She returned holding a shiny kitchen knife.
"You—what are you doing? Stay calm!" Liu Shuang clung tightly to her with all her strength.
"Let me go! I want to kill this faithless man!" Lin Ning shouted with a sob, but slowly lowered the knife.
"This bastard has someone else. No wonder he divorced me…"
Lin Ning wiped her tears, sitting on the sofa with Liu Shuang. The commotion couldn’t wake Su Shui.
After realizing it was over an in-game wife, Liu Shuang quietly comforted her.
"Don’t overthink it. It’s just a game. Besides, tons of guys play female characters. Don’t make a big deal~"
"But…"
"Alright, worst case, we wake him up and you ask him yourself~"
