Chapter 40: One Wild Night
update icon Updated at 2026/1/8 18:00:01

Tonight’s campsite felt warmer than the previous night.

Without Jiang Xiang’s gang causing trouble under the guise of awakenings, hoarding food, and trying to claim the class girls for themselves, everyone breathed easier. Yet most of them hadn’t dared step beyond the camp’s hundred-meter radius in this vast, cosmic expanse of the Star Island Sea.

Outside lay an unimaginable otherworld. These high schoolers—from privileged urban lives—had no idea what tomorrow might bring.

But some were different. Like Han Lianfei, an awakened Elementalist. She saw further into this mysterious world than her classmates. She’d begun grasping the first whispers of true power.

Lianfei’s gaze flickered between the dark forest at the camp’s edge and Lin Luo. Jiang Xiang had definitely lost. Whether he’d perished in the woods or not, Feier didn’t care.

The point was—he’d lost.

The bet was settled. Feier was the daughter of a seasoned hustler from Mystic City’s Bund district. Her father, who’d built a fortune reselling treasury bonds before opening a five-star hotel, had raised her as a pampered heiress—new money, but undeniably wealthy.

He’d taught her life revolved around three faces: *qingmian* (favors), *changmian* (appearances), and *timian* (dignity).

By all reason and feeling, she owed Lin Luo her word.

As she hesitated, cheeks flushed, she spotted Lin Luo laughing with Ziwan. She knew they’d grown up together.

No more hesitation. Chest out, hips swaying slightly, Feier jogged over. Her movements carried a touch of affectation, yet undeniably feminine charm.

“Lin Luo.” She cut off his conversation with Ziwan. “Come here a moment.”

“Huh? What is it?”

“I’m still unclear about the Elemental Magic Guidance Technique. Could you explain it again?”

“Oh?” Lin Luo had been thinking about the bet too. He’d only intervened to stop Jiang Xiang’s bullying—not to claim Feier.

Since it was “serious,” he followed her.

But Feier led him straight out of camp.

“Hey! Where are you two going at night? It’s not safe out there!” Ziwan called worriedly.

“We won’t go far from the tower. And I might practice magic—it’d be unsafe for everyone *inside* camp.” Feier summoned a dazzling flame in her palm, confident.

Ziwan had no counterargument against such “professional” magic.

Feier pulled Lin Luo deep into the forest, behind an ancient tree several meters thick.

“Feier, what’s unclear about the Guidance Technique?”

“Oh, a few small things… but that’s not important.”

“Huh?”

“Lin Luo,” she murmured, head lowered, hands clasped behind her back. Her hips swayed faintly against the tree trunk, one foot propped up. A blush spread across her face. “You might think I’m spoiled in class… but I keep my promises.”

“If this is about *that*—forget it. I only said it to stop Jiang Xiang…”

“No. I said I’d play with the winner all night. Half a night won’t do!” Her brows furrowed with shyness, but her eyes held stubborn resolve.

“A-all night?” Lin Luo’s voice trembled. Even a God Emperor had zero experience here. His pulse quickened; he took an involuntary step back, turning away. He *wanted* to look—but they were classmates. Nothing was settled between them.

“Seriously?” he stammered.

“Dead serious.” Feier’s breath hitched. Her chest rose and fell beneath the tight robe.

Lin Luo felt a pang of guilt. He’d mocked anime protagonists back on Earth—*“I’d jump right in!”*—but facing a girl’s bold advance for the first time, he finally understood that strange instinct: wanting her fiercely, yet reflexively pulling away.

Feier lowered her head, long hair veiling her face. Her voice turned soft, almost haunted. “Lin Luo… is it because you’re so pretty, so *girl-like*… that you don’t like girls?”

*Damn it!* If this kept up, she’d really think he was gay!

“Who—who said I don’t like girls!” Lin Luo snapped. He spun around, yanking her into his arms. A mature, womanly scent—surprising for her age—flooded his senses. His hands moved without permission…

Feier froze, utterly lost. She’d expected him to hesitate. She’d *wanted* him to be brave. But he actually *dared* to touch her?

No backing down now.

She hooked her arms around his neck, pulling him close. Towering over him in heels, she whispered fiercely: “All night. Do you dare? If not—you’re the girl!”

*Wait, wait!* Lin Luo *wanted* to prove he was straight—but this was crossing lines. He tried to retreat, yet Feier’s embrace, the heat radiating from her chest, began drowning his reason.

---

Thirty meters away, Yukin strode through the undergrowth. Dressed in a black mini-skirt, leather armor, and thigh-high stockings, she’d nearly killed Jiang Xiang earlier. But his words about the camp nagged at her. She’d tracked its location, intending to help her juniors.

*“An entire first-year class transported here? Unprecedented. Why do we keep arriving in this world?”*

Lost in thought, her peripheral vision caught movement between the trees.

*“Ah?!”* Her breath hitched.

Her “underclassmen” were pressed against a tree, locked in an intimate embrace.

Her hand flew to her mouth.

*“Such shamelessness! Two girls actually—”*

As their Senior Sister, she couldn’t allow this!

After all that worry for their safety—they were *carrying on like this* in a crisis?

*“A shameless class. I won’t lower myself to help them!”* Fury flushed her cheeks. Her chest rose and fell betraying her own turmoil. With a lonely flicker in her eyes, she turned and stalked away.
