Chapter 45: Sybil's Crossroads
update icon Updated at 2026/1/17 3:00:02

As I leveled up, a warm current flowed through me like a gentle spring breeze caressing my face—utterly comfortable.

My body trembled slightly as if electrified. At the same time, I could feel my strength had grown by just a tiny bit. Faint, yet undeniably real.

The mental exhaustion debuff that had plagued me vanished completely with the upgrade. The energetic Great Demon King Sibyl was back!

Excitedly, I reopened the system interface. As expected, my LV2 stats were far stronger than at LV1.

...

While I checked my stats, Evelyn never paused her slaughter. Soon, the dungeon fell utterly silent.

My EXP settled at LV2 (170/210)—still a small gap to LV3.

“Great Demon King, I apologize. Suitable ‘materials’ were this scarce,” Evelyn said, her voice as lazy as ever. No trace of the massacre she’d just committed showed on her.

“These soldiers were Carol’s test subjects for mind magic research. But compared to Your Majesty’s wish to level up? Carol’s experiments can wait. They’d better contribute their EXP to you~ How many levels did you gain, Great Demon King?”

“Hmm… only one level, I think.”

“Huh? Just one??” Evelyn’s expression shifted sharply.

I nodded, hesitated, then shared the EXP details with the silver-haired mature lady.

Evelyn frowned after listening. “So the EXP shared with you is only one-tenth… My mistake, Supreme Sibyl. Do you still wish to level up?”

“I do, but didn’t you say the ‘materials’ are gone, Sister Evelyn?”

“Hehe~ Great Demon King, as a Demon Kin, you gain EXP by slaying any living being from enemy factions—not just human soldiers~ This dungeon holds more than fanatical troops. If you accept, captured human nobles, civilians, elves… even warhorses and unicorns can fuel your growth. Your choice alone matters.” Evelyn smiled.
