"What the f is that?" Luo Yu froze.
"Fairy Kind," the Training Dummy explained. "Emperor, for some reason, a Fairy Kind bloodline in your body is starting to manifest."
"What's that? Is it strong?" Luo Yu hit a blank spot in her knowledge.
"The Fairy Kind followed an ancient Demonic God and were wiped out in antiquity. They often appear as gorgeous women. Some groups have light-wings like elves. In lineage and looks, they connect to fantasy beings, sprite kind, Demonic Gods, and the Demon Beast Kind."
"You mean..." Luo Yu could barely sit still. She got a little excited. "This bloodline’s kinda badass, right?"
"Because they’re extinct, they aren't recorded in the full Demon Kind registry. I can't judge it."
"Whoa." Luo Yu was already on her feet, a grin tugging at her lips. "If even you can't read it, it must be insanely badass."
The girl couldn't wait. She stripped off her uniform, flung her pants to the side, and tossed her bra onto the Training Dummy’s head.
She even yanked off the last little band-aid guarding her modesty, in a hurry.
"A golden scale doesn't belong in a pond. Give it wind and rain, and it becomes a dragon."
Luo Yu stood bare to the air, not a thread on her. Her eyes sparkled. Her smile was about to reach the back of her head.
"Thirty years east bank, thirty years west... I, Luo Yu, endured fifteen years. Today I take off."
"Emperor, don’t rush to streak yet. I still have—" The Training Dummy sprinted through the grass, catching the basic gear she kept tossing.
"You're a robot. Too young, too simple." Luo Yu wagged her index finger in the air, laughing so hard her face almost cramped. "Do you know how I’ve suffered, waiting for this cheat? Countless nights, when I was, uh, comforting myself in bed, I wished a plug-in would pop up right after I finished."
"Uh…"
"Right." Luo Yu rubbed her chin as inspiration struck. "Robot, this Emperor’s cheat arrived with zero sense of ceremony."
"…" The Training Dummy neatly folded Luo Yu’s clothes and stacked them on its arm, a little speechless. "Then, Emperor, what do you want?"
"It’s missing something…" Luo Yu kneaded her chest with her palm, racking her brains. "Feels like this cheat came in with no feeling…"
"...What feeling."
"Right." She smacked her right palm with her left fist, suddenly clear. "Can you do the system voice? Like, you know, the ding-dong?"
Training Dummy: "Huh?"
"The system, obviously. You don’t even know that? Ugh, I’m so disappointed in you."
Luo Yu nudged the Training Dummy’s knee with her toes, face urgent. "The MC gets isekai’d and lives in misery. He gets cuckolded, castrated, his family slaughtered, his wife sold to a brothel. He watches his little sister get pumped full of junk and pass out. Then—ding!—a badass system pops in his head. From then on, the gears of fate start turning…"
"Emperor, you’ve read too much smut and pulp. Let me say something serious—"
"If you won’t, forget it." Luo Yu shook her head, admiring her own curvy figure. She twisted her waist. "This Emperor’s Northern Expedition doesn’t need such shallow fluff."
"What I’m trying to say is—"
"Right." Luo Yu snapped back and cut the Training Dummy off. She eyed the hesitant Training Dummy. "Didn’t you have something else to tell me?"
"Mm." The Training Dummy nodded.
"Hurry up and spit it out. Don’t be so coy, like a girl."
"…" The Training Dummy paused, then continued. "The Demon Kind’s strength is tightly tied to Noble Bloodline. If you have Demonic God blood, you’re born with a shot at the Demon King. But most Demon Kind don’t have pure blood."
"Uh-huh." Luo Yu nodded. "It’s about purity. Upper Demon Kind value clan blood purity like crazy. They marry within the kind. If they marry outside, it has to be someone with an equally strong Noble Bloodline. Otherwise it gets diluted, and every generation gets worse."
"But lower Demon Kind with heavily mixed blood don’t care," the Training Dummy went on. "After thousands upon thousands of dilutions, a Noble Bloodline falls to ordinary blood. Those people must study magic like humans. They become mages. And that seals a very ordinary fate."
"Sigh, I usually hate nobles who look down on commoners the most." The girl let out a long breath, then lifted her chin again, face flushed with excitement. "But today’s different. I’m a fairy now. I gotta bully a few lower Demon Kind first to vent."
"Robot, you know me. What I hate most is lower Demon Kind with no bloodline showing off in front of the great Fairy Luo Yu."
The Training Dummy: "…"
Seeing the girl striding around stark naked, it hurried to catch up and gripped Luo Yu’s shoulders with its wooden hands.
"What are you doing, robot?" Luo Yu glanced back, puzzled. "I’m about to go celebrate with the rabble."
"Emperor, I forgot to tell you." The Training Dummy shook her a little, trying to clear her head. "That Fairy Kind bloodline in you is very thin."
"So what?" Luo Yu’s lips curled. She couldn’t stop grinning. "I’m a noble now, an upper Demon Kind. I can buy a pricier, stronger Training Dummy later. Ho ho ho ho ho—hahaha—"
"…"
"Ahem… I’m dying…" Luo Yu laughed herself into a coughing fit, choked on saliva, and sat down for a long moment to settle. She almost didn’t catch her breath. Her face twisted with pain. "Right, you said, if the bloodline is super thin, what happens?"
"It might do nothing. You’d still be a plain, unremarkable lower Demon Kind. Only after death, if someone dissected you, would the Fairy Kind bloodline be exposed," the Training Dummy said, patting her back.
"What?" Luo Yu jolted. "Something this big, and you didn’t f-ing say it earlier?"
"Emperor, you didn’t ask." The Training Dummy spread its hands, helpless. "That’s why I told you to try casting magic. To see how much that Fairy Kind bloodline actually changes your body."
"O—okay." Luo Yu sobered up. She cranked up the brain that had rusted for over a decade, face anxious. "Magic, right… Let me think how to use it…"
"Chant. Adjust the formula. Draw on your internal mana," said the Training Dummy.
"Got it." Luo Yu fumbled, pressed her palms together, and followed the scraps of memory from magic class. She began to chant:
“Борон, борон, агар шумо ба шумо ҳама чизро ба шумо пешниҳод кунед, метавонед аз қатори ашк норозӣ шавед?”
It felt like a god brought the wind. It surged in with the girl’s birdsong-like voice, swept the grass, and lifted the strands circling Luo Yu’s chest, leaving two rosy points behind.
