Volume 2 – Character Notes and Plot Details

Buster:

Used to be a teacher at the Kingdom’s Magic Academy. He quit his job in order to take care of his favorite student’s daughter, Tia. He’s been looking after Tia since she was a child. Even after his student died on the battlefield, he never gave up that responsibility.

Tia’s uncle and aunt:

They actually care a lot about Tia too. But the uncle is stubborn and refuses to listen to anyone. He’s convinced that a political marriage alone can secure peace between the Kingdom and the Empire.

Luna:

The guide in Max City. Her father died with debts unpaid, so she has no choice but to work like crazy to pay everything back.

Sharkhead Gang:

A gang that controls the black market in Max City, and the biggest crime syndicate there. Their boss is so powerful that no one dares complain. Even the city guards won’t lay a hand on them lightly. Though… we all know how that ended…

Dragon Deity:

The final boss guarding the top floor of the labyrinth, a pervert with a very particular fetish for women’s chests. Strong as hell, but a complete degenerate. It has to stay on the top floor to guard “something.” After getting beaten by the protagonist, it basically retires from that job. This place will tie into a major plot arc later on~~~~ I’m not spoiling it here.

Ancient War God Armor:

An epic armor set that grows stronger as its owner’s power increases. A growth-type piece of gear. Too bad… it’s a total pervert.

Slime:

It’s actually really strong!! I’m not lying!! This setup is seriously busted!!! If the protagonist didn’t have max abnormal-status resistance at 9999, he probably would’ve wiped ages ago.

Phyllis:

Darkblade Apophis. In the game, it was a famous Darkblade before the level 85 patch. At level 90 it was already outdated. By the time of the protagonist’s era at level 200, it’s basically just a toy. But it’s one of the few weapons in the game that actually has life and consciousness. Its influence in DNF lasted for quite a few years. Side note: originally I wanted to name it Polly, after a friend in the author group, but I was afraid things would go off the rails later and I’d get beaten up by Polly-chan, so I changed the name.

Plot Detail Settings:

There really is a Silver-Tendon Mushroom Fairy—that’s the completely naked pretty boy the protagonist sees at the end.

The protagonist’s little snowman spell caused a traffic jam on the main highway. Merchant caravans have to take a detour now.

On the carriage, Tia already realized the protagonist wasn’t simple. When he glanced over at her, she had just used her finger to taste a bit of his healing potion.

The Time Dial can show the time but it doesn’t have an alarm function, so Aerin has no idea what an “alarm clock” is.

The goblins in the labyrinth are genuinely terrifying. Just imagine something whose features you can’t make out clearly suddenly charging straight at you.

The treasure chest trap is filled with an aphrodisiac and low-level slimes.

In this world, the best armor you can find on the market is purple-grade gear.

The Ancient War God Armor was picked up by the shopkeeper by the river. He thought it was ancient and might be valuable, but when he brought it back it looked like nothing but junk—on the surface, anyway.

In the comments, Red-Tea-chan said Aerin is kind of useless. Time to add some setting details here. Aerin’s parents were Platinum-ranked adventurers in the Association. For certain reasons, they didn’t want Aerin to learn combat, so they never taught him anything growing up. Aerin only started teaching himself gunplay after his parents died. That’s why he doesn’t know Battle Aura and his marksmanship is incomplete. As for why his parents refused to teach him, and how they died—those are all later plot points. Please stick with it and read on.

Aerin’s main class is Duelist. Tia’s main class is Elementalist. Starting next volume, this will be explained in detail.
