Chapter 3: Pillar of the Classroom

"How could the class rep be so late!" I grumbled nonstop about someone, standing like a receptionist at the venue entrance while waiting for him.

Yesterday during registration, the teacher appointed two class reps: me and that transfer student. I heard he shattered the school's exam record—even under the teacher's deliberately tough conditions.

Sure, he was incredibly talented. But... but! How rude to make a cute girl like me wait this long. When he arrives, I'll punish him properly.

As I daydreamed, a figure appeared nearby. From afar... no, no need to squint. I'd recognize that person who kept me waiting, even if he turned to ashes. Why? Call it a girl's sixth sense!

Countless punishment ideas flashed through my mind. I settled on static electricity to wake him up.

I rubbed my hands through my hair, keeping an eye on his slow approach from the corner of my eye.

I watched the distance shrink between us. The moment he got close, I dashed over and reached for his hand...

But no electric shock came. Instead, a tingling sensation spread from my palm. Suddenly, I couldn't control my body. I slowly gripped his hand, and that buzz rushed straight to my heart.

...

Suddenly, the girl's hair stood on end. Behind her, a spherical mass of black strands formed.

I inwardly cursed. I grabbed her hand and absorbed all the current from her body.

...

I felt his hand shift, then pull away. At the same time, something vanished from my chest, leaving it hollow. The tingling disappeared too.

'Could this be love?'

The thought startled me. Could I really like him? I'd heard love feels like an electric shock.

...

The girl lowered her head, muttering under her breath.

"Excuse me... classmate, what can I do for you?"

As I spoke, her body trembled slightly, as if startled.

"Um... um..." She lifted her head slowly, a clear blush on her cheeks. "You're... Li Ze, right?"

"Yes. What do you need, classmate?"

She raised a hand, gently patting her face, then smoothed her hair.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Sunny Su, class rep of Class 3. And you, Li Ze, are the vice class rep!"

Her voice sounded firm, but that blush made it impossible to take her seriously.

"Vice class rep? I just arrived today!"

"The teacher announced it yesterday. That's why I've waited half an hour for you." She twirled a strand of hair around her finger. "Li Ze~ shouldn't you apologize properly to me~?"

A triumphant smile spread across her face, like she'd pulled off a clever trick.

I tentatively asked, "How about I treat you to dinner?"

"Hmph~ you do have a conscience."

Sunny Su turned on her heel and strode into the venue.

"What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and report to Teacher Zhang!"
