Words depend on the speaker and the moment. A few careless phrases, in the wrong place from the wrong mouth, become pure nonsense.

“Are you still half-asleep, boss?”

Fanny watched his boss act like he’d seen a ghost. His gaze had darted between floor and ceiling since earlier. Fanny started wondering if something had snapped in him.

“‘The one you shouldn’t mess with’? I’d believe that from anyone—but why you, boss?”

Sasum gave his blue collar a shake and echoed Fanny’s question.

Even the usually calm Sasum felt doubt creeping in. As werewolves, their pride ran deeper than words. Calling this white-coated man “boss” meant acknowledging his strength. Yet here he was, saying such things.

Only Abraham stayed silent now—though he’d argued fiercely with Fanny moments ago. He rubbed his jaw lightly. His eyes suddenly gleamed with excitement.

“Watch this footage first.”

The man in the white lab coat walked slowly to the console. He pulled up the recording.

On screen, a sweet-faced man with glossy black hair stood still, muttering to himself.

“This guy’s… a man?”

“Yes.”

The white-coated man confirmed it instantly at Sasum’s question.

Then the footage cut out.

Silence froze the control room. You could almost hear heartbeats through ribs.

“Th-this… what was that…”

Fanny spoke first—the same guy who’d been cold and sarcastic earlier. His muddy-yellow pompadour stood out sharply. His body trembled. His voice shook.

“Ah… I didn’t even see it…”

Sasum voiced everyone’s thought.

No one had caught the man’s move before the video died.

“Over half this facility was destroyed by that single punch.”

“Wha—”

The white-coated man explained in a low voice.

“But… didn’t you send Atak earlier…”

“Atak fell to him in under two minutes.”

“…”

No more questions came. None were left to ask.

Everything was painfully clear. Bai Ming had attacked head-on—pure brute force, no tricks.

“Is this guy… even human?”

Fanny doubted his own eyes and ears now. It felt like a lie someone cooked up.

“Heh heh heh… heh heh heh heh.”

Abraham laughed beside them.

“HAHAHAHA! HAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

He yanked off his scarf. Sharp fangs gleamed as he faced the white-coated man.

“You called us just for this? Boss, you’re really nothing special!”

“Hey! What’re you—”

Abraham—who’d scolded others for disrespecting the boss—now roared wildly at him. Excitement and rage twisted his face into something monstrous.

“Oh, oh oh oh! Scared stiff by this guy? Nothing’s funnier!”

He’d always seemed steady and calm. Now it felt like a character collapse. Even old partners struggled to accept it.

“That’s why I hate him.”

Fanny shuffled two steps sideways, muttering helplessly.

“Believe what you want. If I could handle it alone, I wouldn’t have recalled you. You sound so sure—got a plan, Abraham?”

“Obviously. For arrogant humans like this, call me first. However strong he is, my fangs strip flesh to bone. That’s my style.”

Abraham turned away. He walked slowly out of the control room. Never looked back.

To him, his boss wasn’t describing an enemy—he was serving a meal.

“Follow him. Just in case.”

“Huh? Cover him? Boss, you’re overthinking. He bites allies when he snaps.”

Fanny scowled at the order to assist Abraham.

“Understood.”

Sasum replied quietly. He slipped out the door.

“Hey—wait! Ugh, seriously. Must we make such a fuss?”

“Go, Fanny. If Abraham wins, stop him. Don’t let him kill the guy.”

“Ah… yeah, yeah. Ugh, always dumping trouble on me.”

He agreed impatiently. Fanny hated taking orders most of all. He mumbled obediently, shrugged his black leather jacket, and followed out.
