Chapter 42: This is Ridiculously Cutting

After Xia Chuan Yuan let out a dry chuckle, he continued observing the massive activity room.

Actually, he’d followed the two girls here. His first glance brought surprise, but now, the more he looked, the more amazed he grew. This room’s layout and decor surpassed villas, resorts, and even corporate HQs.

It wasn’t just a space for over twenty to rest. A separate gaming zone stood out—or so it seemed.

Seven or eight computers sat there. They looked like Xingren-brand machines, the top-tier gaming brand. Each had triple curved monitors, far more high-end than Xia Chuan Yuan’s home setup. It startled him repeatedly.

Beyond computers, consoles paired with a wall-mounted giant TV promised an amazing experience. A ceiling projector and full home theater system on the floor made movie nights superb.

The central area, ringed by sofas, seemed perfect for singing, dancing, or rehearsals. It could double as a lounge—a true hall.

Xia Chuan Yuan turned to another corner. Pianos, guitars, jazz drums—all kinds of instruments gave it a strong musical vibe. Finally, the last corner held bookshelves packed with diverse books, plus tables and chairs. This made him feel he hadn’t walked into the wrong club—not music or gaming, but the Culture Club.

He’d scanned the room, yet many things remained unmentioned: fitness gear, swings, rocking chairs, all sorts of oddities, even items he’d never seen.

This… could it be a military fortress or shelter? It felt better equipped than any bunker. Were they prepping for 2012 or the apocalypse?

Such a huge fridge, this kitchen counter—it seemed only a bathroom was missing inside!

“I think I spotted a missing bathroom! Not quite perfect yet!” Xia Chuan Yuan shook his head, his tone laced with feigned regret. Hidden beneath was a trace of schadenfreude and envy—undetectable to others, but real to him.

“The bathroom? It’s at the hallway’s end outside! Huge, with a shower—no need inside! Is that not okay?” Chenghai Meixi chirped cutely.

“You’re my big shot now! May I offer my knees? I present them to you!”

“Ara ara! Why say that suddenly? Why offer your knees? Did something shock you?”

“Nothing much. After seeing this room, I just wanted to give you my knees. Will you take them?” Though he said it, Xia Chuan Yuan showed no sign of bending his knees—it was clearly a joke. So Chenghai Meixi and Guanyue Yamei played along.

“But seriously—are you Culture Club, Gaming Club, Music Club, or a shelter prep team? So complete! This room only lacked a bathroom to be a bunker. Now with one outside, you’ve got everything! How much did you spend?”

“No, ‘shelter’ doesn’t fit. It could be a multinational HQ. Some corps lack this vibe. Is this really just a humble activity room?”

“Oh, it’s nothing! Cost maybe a few hundred thousand. Most items came from members’ families. Seventy percent was from another member—you’ll know her. She’s from your class, just not here yet.”

“We just wanted comfort, so we decorated nicely. But you’re right—this basement was built as a shelter. It’s ours now. That classmate’s late; sit anywhere!”

Xia Chuan Yuan glanced around. Even packed, the room felt oddly empty. After hesitation, he chose the central sofa. Sitting there gave a commanding feel.

I didn’t sprawl on the sofa—first visit, bad impressions to avoid. So I sat casually, phone in hand, waiting for the mysterious member.

He lost track of time scrolling when a voice called:

“Sorry! Went home to shower—kept you waiting!”

Xia Chuan Yuan put down his phone, looked up, and it was her!
