Chapter 12: Kurokawa Saro

After chatting briefly with my homeroom teacher, Hermine Meiling—who, despite knowing her responsibilities as a senior, shamelessly chose to continue her drinking escapade as a way of escaping reality—she got drunk. Again. In a rather spectacular fashion and fell asleep just like that.

I hope she hasn't noticed my little stunt earlier.

No more complaining! Time for a change of perspective. After all, I hit the jackpot tonight. I finally experienced what it feels like to touch a woman's chest—and on such a beautiful woman at that! If the vast league of otaku out there knew, they'd probably want to roast me alive. Never mind, I'll let her off the hook this time. Sigh. The strong bear more burdens, don't they? And considering that I'm such a dashing gentleman, it's only fair I bear even more!

Alright, time to figure out what to do next!

It's about 7:30 in the evening, and we’re in a private room on the third floor of the St. Clements Hotel. This entire floor is exclusive to private rooms, ours conveniently located right in front of the elevator. That means moving people out shouldn't cause misunderstandings.

Currently, I have at my disposal: my phone, Hermine Meiling's phone, and the keys to a seven-seater SUV. My mission: get all eight of them into the car and send them home.

But the car keys... Something feels off. Oh right! She didn’t tell me what her car looks like, or where it’s parked! At the very least, couldn’t she have provided the license plate number?!

"Teacher, stop playing dead! Get up already! The most crucial piece of information is still missing!"

Unsurprisingly, even my yelling elicited zero response from Hermine Meiling.

Left with no choice, I employed my secret ultimate technique—the one that had worked earlier—a knockout move guaranteed to wake her up: the Super Ground-Shaking Spiral Shake! Asa-ki!

Left hand, right hand, slow motion. Right hand, left hand, replay in slow motion.

Under the force of my legendary finisher, her tightly shut eyes twitched. Her tightly clasped eyelids fluttered open, and her fingers trembled faintly. Slowly, she revived from her corpse-like (excuse me) state.

"Ugh... Why are there so many little stars floating around...?"

"Teacher, what’s your car’s license plate number?!"

"One star... Two stars... Three stars... So many stars!"

Smack. I could almost see three veins popping out on my forehead.

If looks could kill, Hermine Meiling would have been riddled with holes by now!

Hold it in, hold it in. Xia Chuan Yuan, you’re a gentleman, remember? You can’t be rude to women. If you do, you’re destined for eternal loneliness! You can’t let that happen!

After relentless effort, I finally coaxed her into revealing her car’s license plate number and its color—between bouts of drunken rambling.

Eight people total. Two at a time, I can carry six. As for Chiyo Shimaya, she’s so delicate that I can only manage to lift her properly. That means five trips total. But what about the room while I’m gone? If something goes wrong, I’ll regret it forever. I need some help. Maybe the kind receptionist at the front desk can assist?

She’s the one who helped me out earlier at checkout. Polite and shy, she seemed like someone easy to talk to.

Leaving the private room, I closed the door quietly, scanning the hallway. Empty. Good. Time to move!

I rushed to the reception desk. The receptionist, engrossed in her paperwork, was wearing her uniform impeccably. Despite her focus, her cheeks were radiating warmth, with a gentle smile lingering on her face.

I hesitated for a moment before lightly knocking on the wooden counter.

Knock, knock, knock.

Startled by the sound, she jerked back slightly. Glancing around, her eyes landed on me standing before her.

Instantly, a blush danced across her cheeks—a fleeting, beautiful flush. Then, parting her alluring lips:

"Sir, is there something I can assist you with?"

Even though I startled her with my abruptness, her excellent demeanor ensured her smile stayed warm and her tone gentle.

"Yes, indeed! You can absolutely help me right now!"

"Ah!"

Her surprise was adorable. Clearly, she hadn't expected such a straightforward acknowledgment in response to her formal greeting. Her lips parted in disbelief.

No time for long explanations—I need to act fast.

Grabbing her hand, I led her towards the private room that held my incapacitated friends.

As we made our way, I launched into a rushed account of the situation: the state of the room, the women inside, everything she needed to know before arriving. I also resolved to make a proper apology later for being so forward.

We walked into the room, and she froze the second her eyes took in the scene.

Her friendly gaze instantly sharpened, wary and defensive. The soft warmth was replaced by a chilling alertness. I could practically feel her labeling me as a potential lunatic. She pulled her hand free with a swift motion, clasped her palms close to her chest, and shifted into a defensive stance—a poised posture, ready for flight.

"Um... I can explain this, really!" I tried to reason, dodging the imaginary daggers her eyes hurled at me.

"Are you some kind of creep planning to do unspeakable things here? Well, I'm warning you—I’ve studied martial arts! Bring it on—hiya!"

"No, no, no, not like that! Just hear me out!"

Narrowly dodging a preview of her self-proclaimed prowess, I raised my hands in surrender, shaking them frantically to calm her down.

"Don’t jump to conclusions! Sometimes, what you see might not be the whole story—the truth often hides behind appearances!"

Her stance relaxed slightly, though her wary expression remained.

"I apologize for my rudeness earlier; seriously, I’m sorry. Now, let me explain the situation here."

"Firstly, I didn’t do anything to these women. I didn’t get them drunk. I had nothing to do with their state. See the woman sprawled across the couch? Yes, the one who looks the oldest. That’s my teacher. She’s responsible—she’s the culprit behind all of this!"

I rationalized that she was too plastered to be offended by my jab at her age. If she were to wake up and confront me about it, I could only imagine the chaos. Best not to dwell on that thought...

Still sensing suspicion from the receptionist, I sighed inwardly and decided to elaborate further.

"I’m just a student—a high school student at Sakura Field Private Academy. This was supposed to be a class committee celebration. That lady—the oldest one over there—she's our teacher. It was her idea to organize this dinner. But do you know how shameless she was?!"

Cue the tears! Tilt head back 45 degrees and gaze wistfully at the ceiling. Channel my inner tragic actor. Time for the full performance!

"All day... *sniff sniff* ...she made me clean the entire classroom by myself without even offering me a measly hundred yen, not even a bottle of soda. Then she and everyone else started eating ahead of me. By the time I arrived, all that was left was scraps. And to top it off! She got everyone drunk! Without a shred of hesitation or remorse, she got them wasted. And when I showed up, what did she do? She used her authority as a teacher! As an elder! She **forced** me to drink with her!"

Barely holding back a sob, I carried on hammering my tragic narrative. "And then she herself got drunk and ignored everything! Now look at this mess! Look at it! What was promised as a treat turned into me footing the entire bill! Do you know how hard I worked to save that money... *sob* …I nearly had to sell blood and organs to save up. If I hadn’t barely scraped enough together, I’d be washing dishes to pay off the debt this minute!"

"Please, don’t cry anymore! You're truly remarkable. Here—take my handkerchief and wipe away those tears. You’re such a good person—it's all your teacher’s fault, not yours! Oh, you really are a great guy!"

Wait—did she just give me the "nice guy" label?! This can’t be happening! Nice guys finish last, don't they? No way I’m letting this derail me. I need a different approach, fast!

"Actually, please just call me Yuan instead of ‘nice guy’ or anything like that. This whole situation has nothing to do with me being noble. I’m just fulfilling my responsibilities as her student. Teacher's orders. That's all. Nothing more!"

I paused to gauge her reaction. Surely she’ll take the hint this time, right? I’m no second lead—I want the main role!

"Alright, Yuan-kun it is, then! Well, my name is Kurokawa Soro—you can just call me Soro. And truly, I’m moved by your virtue. Even though you could have just ignored everything, you took it upon yourself to handle this mess. You’re very admirable! Tell me, is there anything I can do to help you?"

Though her honest admiration warmed my heart, I silently begged her to stop calling me "virtuous" or a "good guy"... How was she not picking up on my hints?!

"Miss Soro, thank you. To tell you the truth, I need your assistance for just a small favor."

"Of course, Yuan-kun! If I can help, just let me know!"

"I’m planning to carry each of these eight girls down to my teacher’s car. Problem is, I can only manage two at a time. I’m worried something might happen to the others while I’m away, so I wanted to ask if you could stay here and keep an eye on them for me."

"You want me to watch them while you're out loading the car?"

"Exactly! Please, I’m counting on you!"

"Yuan-kun, you truly think of everything! How thoughtful, even ensuring their safety—all so considerate of you. Truly, you’re such a good person. So touching!"

AARRGHHHHH! Will it **ever** stop?

"Thank you, Soro, but I’m just doing what anyone would do in my shoes. It’s simply my responsibility. Now, the hour is growing late, so I’d better start, and I’m counting on you to keep an eye on the ladies while I’m gone!"

"Got it! I’ll keep watch. Do what you need to do, Yuan-kun!"

Great. Time to get to work.
