Ding!
Ding! Ding!
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!
The grating clang finally made me look up. Across from me, my "slave master" tapped a porcelain bowl nonstop with a chopstick held between two slender fingers. She fixed me with an impatient stare.
"What are you spacing out for? I’m talking to you!"
"Mm, I zoned out."
Ouyang Lian’s words snapped me out of it, clearing some confusion. But the key question remained: what did Xu Lingzhu really want? "For my use"... what did that mean? Was it just joining that mysterious club?
This girl always looked half-dead during meals. Her starting a conversation today was rare. Had my absentmindedness ruined the food and upset my "slave master"? I tasted the beef stew with potatoes. I scooped a spoonful of winter melon soup. The flavors were fine.
So why was Jiang Xiaoyu confronting me?
Little Fish raised her delicate eyebrows. "So you didn’t hear a single word I just said?"
Bad sign. I stammered, "Of course I heard. You want... uh... what... right?"
"Right! I’m going out for a few days this weekend."
I froze. Despite my lowly home status, I ventured, "Where to?"
"Annoying! None of your damn business!"
"If I’m not mistaken, you mean you won’t be home those days?"
"Duh! Why else would I tell you in advance!"
Jiang Xiaoyu held her rice bowl, picking at food in tiny bites. She hid her face behind it. This made me more curious. What could make everyone’s perfect model student run away from home?
"What for?"
She slammed her bowl on the table, face stern. "The school is organizing a summer camp!"
I couldn’t help but laugh. "Summer camp? Are you kidding? Summer vacation just ended."
Jiang Xiaoyu’s sharp, almond-shaped eyes glared at me. "Then it’s an autumn outing! What, not allowed?"
I rolled my eyes. "Fine, fine. You’re the fish girl, you’re the boss!"
Had City No.1 High, with its 91% college admission rate, gotten this lax? Organizing sophomore trips seemed suspicious. I glanced at Jiang Xiaoyu again. She always watched TV dramas about all-consuming love. But today, she seemed tense. And... guilty.
Anyway, no eunuch would mind skipping "Old Buddha" duty. I pushed it aside. If Nan Dongye hadn’t forced me to school, I’d be stocking otaku supplies. Enjoying a fish-girl-free world at home.
Alas. Tomorrow at Evergreen Academy, I’d likely face an ardent female fan. She was pretty, though flat-chested.
So I finally have a female fan? The thought thrilled me a little. All Nan Dongye’s fault for tearing my club application. Otherwise, I could’ve explained the girls’ bathroom incident to Xu Lingzhu. She’d have forgiven me.
But reality clashes with ideals. The next day, after another all-nighter, Nan Dongye woke me groggily at my desk. At Class 3-4’s door stood a tall, blonde girl. Her expression was gloomy.
Terrifying. She didn’t look like a fan wanting an autograph. She was here to confront me!
I walked over under the class’s confused stares. I bore Xu Lingzhu’s immense spiritual pressure. Most, even the teacher, hadn’t seen the back-row sleeper’s face. But I caught Xu Xian’s mocking glint hidden in the crowd.
Xu Lingzhu crossed her arms. She glanced at me, then scanned the room. She disliked being gawked at like a monkey too.
"Follow me."
Her aura forced me to obey. Same path: third floor, across the rooftop, to the student activity center. Except this time, the Student Council President accompanied us. His face was ashen.
What to do... She must think I’m a pervert. No—in her email, she wrote "Miss Flawless Flower." Peeing in front of a girl shouldn’t matter. So why this rage?
Xu Lingzhu stopped at a club room door. She opened it gently, gesturing me inside.
Break time, beautiful Student Council President, me, small room.avi. No, no. This was a trap!
I swallowed hard and stepped in. The room wasn’t spacious like other weird clubs. But when I saw inside, I gaped. The items defied imagination. More importantly, another person was there. Someone familiar.
"Ms. Gu?"
"Huh! It’s you!" Gu Hengbo jumped up, clutching her laptop. "Uh, what’s your name again, teacher?"
I guess... I never properly introduced myself to that ditzy teacher last time. Being called "teacher" by my homeroom teacher felt awkward.
Xu Lingzhu closed the door. She stared, surprised, at the woman smoking on the sofa. "What are you doing here?"
Gu Hengbo sheepishly stubbed out her cigarette. "Well, heh. It’s comfy here. As the club advisor, resting isn’t too much, right?"
I scanned the room’s layout. I understood. So this was the so-called "G"? Neat and cozy. Gu Hengbo seemed to be the advisor squatting here.
"Whatever. Do as you please. I’m not here for you," Xu Lingzhu said, rubbing her temples. She turned sharply to me, staring straight. Her face flushed deeply. "It was you, right?"
Both Gu Hengbo and Xu Lingzhu watched me. I grew more confused. "Huh? What?"
Xu Lingzhu, crimson with shame and anger, yanked something from a cabinet. She slammed it on the table. "Don’t play dumb! This arrived anonymously at my home this morning. I only gave you my address yesterday!"
"Couriers are diligent nowadays. But when did you tell me... uh... this..."
Gu Hengbo’s face matched Xu Lingzhu’s crimson. My gaze swept the thick, terrifying rod on the table. My pupils contracted. I understood instantly: Ouyang Lian had been corresponding with Xu Lingzhu.
That damn girl... She really sent a vibrator as revenge!
