Such an imposing, mysterious entrance could only herald an extraordinary power—and extraordinary power meant complicated events, complicated events meant high-difficulty quests, and high-difficulty quests meant mountains of rewards!
Any veteran player like Yingning would know better than to click that X button. Honestly, anyone with half a brain wouldn’t touch it.
I’ve said all this just to confess one thing:
Uh… I accidentally clicked the X.
Totally by accident! This game’s UI is just too realistic—I still haven’t gotten used to pop-ups and system messages. Anything that suddenly appears on-screen makes me want to smash it. Especially after that near-death crisis, my nerves were already frayed to breaking point!
So when something weird popped up in front of Yingning, my fist instinctively swung out—
"Get lost! Stay away from Yingning!"
—and landed squarely on the X.
Yeah. That’s how it happened.
I never expected pets could make choices for their owners.
We both froze. Under Yingning’s slightly reproachful gaze, the system forced me to stick out my tongue in a silly pout before bowing my head in shame.
To my shock, Yingning didn’t electrocute me for such a huge mistake!
Back when we first met, she’d nearly fried me alive just for saying "damn"—this girl’s triggers were seriously weird.
We waited anxiously, wondering how the mysterious voice would react.
"Hm? There’s a Demon Clan Adventurer here too? No… that’s strange. How did I miss her?!" The voice, originally gender-neutral, slipped into its true tone in surprise.
I instantly recognized it as a steely female voice. No matter how deep or sharp it tried to sound, physiological differences always gave away a woman’s voice—I’d spent lifetimes mastering disguises, switching between genders to escape trouble.
"A Demon Clan Adventurer? Oh-ho-ho-ho! Heaven favors the Demon Clan! This blessing isn’t just for the Human Race—it’s ours too! Muscle Maiden, still feeling smug? Still strutting? What’s wrong? Mad? Come on, try killing me! Lueluelue!"
The Great Pit clearly hid more than one powerhouse. The first mysterious voice belonged to that steely woman, while this new one—sultry, carefree, dripping with allure—was another female entirely.
I didn’t know the game’s exact trigger mechanics, but from their exchange, I guessed they hadn’t detected me until I clicked that X.
The "Muscle Maiden" spoke again, voice tight: "This isn’t the time for bickering. Assess the situation first… We’ll settle this fairly."
"Hah! 'Fairly'?" The sultry voice seethed. "Your Human Race attacked without cause! Those arrogant Divine Progeny refuse to listen to reason… Our Demon Ancestor was blind to spare such ungrateful wretches!"
These Grandmasters had made such a godly entrance—mountains crumbling, earth splitting, pillars of light piercing the sky—yet within three sentences, they were squabbling like street vendors?
Yingning and I exchanged glances, feeling like gods tumbling down to earth.
"Enough! You’ve argued for a century—will you never stop? My ears are calloused from your noise!" A deep, commanding male voice cut in, radiating authority like a Greek deity. "Justice lies in the hearts of mortals. Our words mean nothing. The choice belongs to these two Adventurers."
Both women snorted in disdain but fell silent. The male voice continued: "Since neither of you will speak first, I shall. These Adventurers bear no blood of The Divine… I speak first. Objections?"
"None."
"None."
Prompt boxes reappeared before us—but this time, I had one too.
[Listen to the mysterious voice’s tale?]

Yingning and I both took a sharp breath. We knew, instantly: this was our golden ticket.
