Though the two Demon Kings’ attacks were only meant to test their opponent, they were still far from weak. Lei Yu Demon King attacked at incredible speed, while Shadow Demon King’s attacks were bizarre and unpredictable.
“Crack—!” But to everyone’s surprise, just as Lei Yu Demon King’s lightning was about to strike Lucifer, it suddenly split apart, forming a dense web of lightning. The interweaving arcs shot toward Shadow Demon King, who was attacking at the same time, and shattered every one of his illusions.
“Lei Yu Demon King, what do you mean by this?” Shadow Demon King reappeared a hundred paces away, his face dark with displeasure. The two of them had only ever had a simple working relationship, held together by nothing more than a verbal pact among several powerful Demon Lords.
“I didn’t do that…” Lei Yu Demon King said at once.
“You didn’t? Then what, did I run into it myself?” Shadow Demon King’s expression darkened further. As far as he was concerned, Lei Yu Demon King was trying to kill him and claim the First Demon King Pillar for himself. After all, no demon could resist the temptation of a Demon King Pillar.
“I really didn’t do it!” Lei Yu Demon King protested, but there was no way to clear his name.
“If it wasn’t you, then was it her?” Shadow Demon King snapped.
“Just you wait. This isn’t over!” Shadow Demon King snarled, then turned to leave at once—but a figure stepped into his path.
“What are you supposed to be, blocking my way?” Shadow Demon King glared at Bexia, his anger flaring even higher. A mere Demon God dared to stand in his way? It was as if Bexia didn’t take him, a Demon King, seriously at all.
“Then die!” With all that anger burning in his chest, Shadow Demon King formed a black blade and thrust it toward Bexia’s head.
“Whoosh—!” Gray energy gathered in Bexia’s hand, forming a warblade. But just as Bexia was about to strike, the black blade suddenly swerved sharply and shot toward Lei Yu Demon King, who stood behind Shadow Demon King.
“Shadow Demon King, you—!” Lei Yu Demon King hurriedly blocked the black blade, then shot Shadow Demon King an even more hostile look.
“It wasn’t me…?!” Shadow Demon King began, then furrowed his brow. It seemed he’d figured it out. He immediately retreated, warily turning his gaze toward Lucifer.
“She’s behind this!” Shadow Demon King said.
“This…” Lei Yu Demon King thought it over, then quickly understood as well.
“Run!” A possibility flashed through Shadow Demon King’s mind, and he immediately turned and fled. Seeing this, Lei Yu Demon King vanished in an instant, too. They were both old, cunning Demon Kings. The moment something felt wrong, they ran.
“You figured it out? But only now deciding to run…” A faint smile touched Lucifer’s lips. She made no move to stop the two Demon Kings from fleeing.
“Authority: Mastery!”
The next moment, something astonishing happened. The two fleeing Demon Kings had barely gotten away before they found themselves back where they started.
“What’s going on?” The two Demon Kings paled in shock and tried to run again, but they were immediately returned to the same spot. No matter what they did, they couldn’t escape this small patch of space.
“Lucifer, quit playing around. We have important business to take care of.” Bexia looked at the two Demon Kings, scurrying around like rats in a cage. This wasn’t merely the difference of an entire rank—it was the gap between the universe’s strongest beings and mere insects.
Sovereign Gods!
They stood at the very summit of the universe, saw through the source of laws, and wielded the power of the universe’s rules. This was an entirely new kind of power—the power of the universe itself. Those beneath the Sovereign Gods had no power to resist.
Only a Sovereign God could stand against another Sovereign God. All those beneath them were insects. Otherwise, Sovereign Gods wouldn’t be known as the most powerful beings in the universe.
“Of course, Master!” Lucifer gave a playful smile. But when the two Demon Kings heard her call Bexia that, they froze for a moment, then stared at Bexia in utter terror.
In the Abyss, Lucifer had always been known as the foremost Demon King at the Demon Lord’s side. Anyone she called Master had to be… And when Shadow Demon King remembered that he’d just tried to attack Bexia, he felt as if his soul were about to fly right out of his body in terror.
“Y-you are…”
“Disperse.” Lucifer’s red lips parted softly. A strange force instantly erupted from the two peerless Demon Kings. The power within their bodies poured out like a flood released from its dam, becoming ownerless energy that returned to the world.
Once the two Demon Kings had vanished completely, the energy in this part of the Abyss grew dense all at once. Everything around them began to change under its influence. Mountain after mountain rose from the ground, and black demonic trees sprang up like mushrooms after the rain.
“Where are we going next, Master~?” Lucifer sidled up close to Bexia again, wrapping her long arm around Bexia’s and pressing it firmly into her cleavage. If she’d still carried herself with an angel’s reserve before, now she was nothing but a little devil of a demoness.
“Stop fooling around. I’ll head back to the Demon God camp first, then go to the Abyssal Sea to reclaim my palace.” Bexia knew Lucifer was doing it on purpose, and affectionately brushed a strand of hair aside.
“What about me?”
“Why not come with me? As long as you don’t use your powers, I doubt many demons can recognize who you are now.”
“I can keep from using my powers, but then my safety is in your hands, Master~! You’ll have to protect me properly!”
“Of course. I’ll stay right by your side and protect you…”
