No. 53: Lucifer in Chaos

“Causal Deduction!” Bexia closed his eyes. Countless fine threads of cause and effect spread out from him, each linked to a different causal connection. One of them tied him to Lucifer.

Following the causal thread between himself and Lucifer, he tried to deduce her whereabouts. Even within this region, Bexia couldn’t pinpoint her location. At most, he could sense traces of her lingering in the chaotic spacetime.

Still, that was a lot better than blindly stumbling around!

“There’s no trace of Lucifer here!” Bexia opened his eyes, then suddenly shot forward. He landed on a small reef jutting out from somewhere nearby, and his figure vanished at once.

This was a node leading to another spacetime. With the power of time and space to guide him, Bexia had found it with ease.

When Bexia appeared again, the world had undergone another earth-shaking change. What had been an expanse of ocean was now a vast land of molten rock. Volcanoes surrounded him, and lava flowed everywhere, above and below the ground. The heat in the air could melt metal in an instant!

“Pfft—!” Just as Bexia closed his eyes to sense his surroundings, a black shadow burst out of the lava below. A fearsome monster lunged at him, jaws gaping like a grinder.

“Whoosh—!” Bexia instantly disappeared from where he stood. The giant lava worm snapped at empty air, but that wasn’t the end of it. Before Bexia could steady himself, the lava below churned again, and another giant lava worm burst out.

One after another, they came. Bexia furrowed his brow, figuring he’d probably fallen into a nest of these giant bugs. He stopped dodging, clenched his fist, and slammed it down at the ground below.

“Rumble—!” With a deafening boom, Bexia’s punch sent a thousand-meter-high wave of lava surging upward. Countless giant lava worms were reduced to ash beneath the blow.

Bexia’s attack had a clear effect. After that one punch, not a single giant lava worm attacked him again. He closed his eyes and sensed the causal threads around him once more. This time, he picked up Lucifer’s presence.

Bexia set off again, following the causal thread he’d found. Before long, he came across traces of a battle. Sensing them closely, he could detect a faint remnant of Lucifer’s power, along with several other distinct forces.

“Whoosh—!”

Bexia crossed another stretch of chaotic spacetime. A dense forest appeared before him. He carefully sensed the area and found a broken sword in a badly damaged crater, with a trace of blood still not fully dried on it.

“This is Lucifer’s blood...” Bexia reached out and touched the blood on the broken sword. Using the power of cause and effect and time, he deduced what had happened here. Scenes of Lucifer fighting appeared in his mind. She’d killed a Demon King who had been pursuing her here. In the final image, the sword pierced her thigh, and bright red blood spilled everywhere...

Bexia kept deducing and searching for Lucifer’s whereabouts. After searching through hundreds of stretches of chaotic spacetime, he finally sensed a powerful presence. Following the causal connection between himself and Lucifer, he found her without trouble.

It was a hidden, folded space. Places like this were rare in the chaotic spacetime, and the entrance was difficult to find. Who would’ve thought an unremarkable tree could conceal such a place? Without the guidance of the causal thread, Bexia might not have found it at all.

“Buzz, buzz, buzz—!” Bexia passed through ripples in space and entered a world blanketed in snow. Heavy snowfall and violent storms surrounded him, severely limiting his vision. Anyone without some real strength would quickly lose their way in a place like this.

Bexia began deducing the causal threads again. It was the only way to find Lucifer’s trail quickly!

“This way!” Bexia moved quickly, speeding along the crystal-clear causal thread. After passing through thick layers of ice and snow, he finally saw Lucifer.

Bexia had reached a point ten thousand meters beneath the ice. Even an ordinary chunk of ice here was hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of years old. The cold was terrifying; it had even become a kind of icy poison. If an ordinary person touched even a little of it, their body would slowly freeze solid until they died!

Lucifer sat cross-legged on an ice platform she’d carved out. Her robes were in tatters and stained with blood, and her wounds hadn’t healed. A layer of frost covered her, making her look just like a snowman!

With a wave of his hand, Bexia brushed the frost off Lucifer. He frowned at her condition. He could sense only the faintest trace of life in her. If not for that, he would’ve thought Lucifer was already dead.

“Life Phantom Deity!” A green-gold figure emerged behind Bexia, radiating dense life force. It waved its hand and sent a beam of light into Lucifer’s body. Only when the phantom’s body had grown extremely faint did Bexia withdraw his Life Phantom Deity.

Lucifer’s appearance had now fully recovered, but her injuries had healed by no more than thirty percent. More importantly, the power within her was in complete disarray. Who knew what she’d been thinking—she was actually trying to fuse the power of three Divinities, two of them opposing forces of darkness and light!
