“Unrest?!” Bexia repeated.

“Yes! No one knows why, but there’s been unrest in the Sea of the Abyss, at the very bottom of the Abyss. Word is that the long-vanished Demon Lord’s palace is about to emerge, so countless abyssal demons have poured in, hoping to find the legacy the Demon Lord left behind!” the old man replied.

“Doesn’t that make it even easier for me to get in?” Bexia said with a smile. He’d wondered what it was, but it turned out to be because of him after all. The Abyss’s will had probably sensed his arrival and “stirred a little” by accident!

“If Young Master Bexia insists on entering the Abyss, this old man will find a way to get you in safely!” the old man said through gritted teeth.

“No need. I have my own way in. Just make things a little easier for me and tell me what the Abyss is like these days when the time comes!” Bexia declined. Mo Qingqin had helped him so much already; he couldn’t very well ask her people to arrange absolutely everything for him. That’d make him seem completely useless.

The old man escorted Bexia and the other two to a residence specially prepared for them. As honored guests sent by the higher-ups, they were given the best arrangements, naturally. The old man then left for a while to make arrangements for Bexia, and didn’t return until two days later.

“Young Master Bexia, everything’s ready. When do you plan to set out?” the old man asked.

“Right now,” Bexia said with a nod.

“This way, Young Master Bexia!” The old man led the way into a teleportation formation. When they emerged, they were on a barren star!

“The Abyss and the universe don’t exist on corresponding planes, so we have to break through the dimensional barrier to enter the Abyss!” As he spoke, the old man took out a black pillar. “Please wait a moment, Young Master Bexia!”

The old man picked up the pillar, and his whole aura changed. His hunched body quickly grew robust, his enormous muscles stretching his scholar’s robe taut. He hefted the black pillar and drove it into the ground with all his might. The ground beneath their feet then turned into a pitch-black vortex.

“The Abyss is filled with powerful demonic energy. Any being that isn’t from the Abyss will be corrupted if they enter, so you need specially made items to go in…” As he spoke, the old man tried to take out the things he’d prepared and make a show of helping Bexia, but Bexia cut him off first.

“No need. I don’t need those things,” Bexia said calmly. He was the Demon Lord of the Abyss. The Abyss was practically his home—why would he need anything to shield himself from its demonic energy?

“In that case, this old man will wait here for Young Master Bexia’s triumphant return!” The old man didn’t know what Bexia was thinking. But then it occurred to him that Bexia had come from above, so he must have better things than the few little items he had. It was only natural that Bexia wouldn’t think much of them.

“No need to trouble yourself. I can get out on my own.” With that, Bexia controlled his body and sank into the black vortex beneath his feet. Strands of black abyssal energy slipped through his pores and into his body, where the Destruction Phantom God absorbed it all. Bexia himself was completely unharmed.

The old man was surprised, but he’d already been prepared for something like this. He calmly watched Bexia vanish completely into the vortex, then pulled out the pillar and left. As soon as he returned, he immediately reported everything about Bexia to Mo Qingqin!

The Abyss was dominated by black. There was no golden sun or silver moon in the sky—only an enormous presence radiating a blood-red light. It wasn’t a star, but a powerful being Bexia had once sealed away: a formidable entity known as the Bloodflare Demon!

Bexia appeared in a black forest. The moment he entered the Abyss, he felt the surrounding abyssal power cheering with joy. His Destruction Body and the Cause-and-Effect Body he’d just condensed appeared at his sides. The two Phantom Gods then merged, and Bexia slipped inside the body formed by their fusion to hide.

“Let’s find a demon and ask what’s going on!” Bexia rose into the sky and swept his gaze over the surroundings. There was a city of the Abyss not far away.

The Abyss wasn’t the barren wasteland the outside world claimed it was. Because of Bexia, its settlements were mostly cities, and daily life in many ways was much like that of the human race. The main difference was that things in the Abyss were a lot more bloody and violent.

Or, more accurately, it simply laid bare the dark side the human race kept hidden!

Bexia sensed the area around him. The city was called Kalimon City. By his old rules, each city was named after its lord. There was only one Immortal God in the city, and that being was right in its center. It was probably the city lord or someone in a similar role. Without another word, Bexia teleported to where the demon god was.

The demon god Kalimon was a thorn demon, a demon born from a plant—a relatively rare kind. In human form, he looked like a sickly young boy, with thick thorns wrapped around his body. At that moment, he was frowning as he read a peculiar document!

“Who’s there?!” Kalimon stared at the figure that had suddenly appeared before him and immediately stood up. The thorns in his hands began to writhe like venomous snakes.

“Bang—!” Before Kalimon could react, his body slammed hard into the wall. He didn’t break through it because a force had stopped him—and that same force had sealed off everything inside from the outside!
