In the young World Lord’s eyes, Bexia’s gesture meant something else entirely. He immediately smiled and took a smaller box from his storage item. It was covered in elaborate patterns, and when he opened it, a rich aura of laws spilled out.
“Senior, these are also a token of my gratitude!” the young World Lord said with an ingratiating smile.
“You can take these back,” Bexia said calmly.
“Senior, I…”
“I don’t need these, but I do need you to take care of something for me!” Bexia cut him off.
“Just say the word, Senior!” the young World Lord said with a smile.
“Do you have any warships here heading near the Abyss? The faster, the better,” Bexia said.
“The Abyss?!” The young World Lord’s mouth fell open in surprise. Then he frowned. “We do, but I’m afraid it might be beneath your status, Senior.”
“That doesn’t matter. Go on,” Bexia said, waving a hand for him to continue.
“We do have a supply ship heading to the Abyssal Front. It’s reasonably fast, but, Senior, you…”
“It doesn’t matter. Can you arrange it for me?” Bexia looked at the young World Lord.
“Of course. These supply ships for the front aren’t under my jurisdiction, but there’s no problem arranging for you to board one, Senior!” the young World Lord said. “And I’ll make sure everything is taken care of for you.”
“Then thank you,” Bexia said with a nod.
“Not at all! Not at all!” the young World Lord replied with a humble bow.
He worked quickly. More importantly, a supply ship bound for the Abyssal Front was about to depart. So, on the third day, Bexia boarded it and was assigned a fairly spacious room. His accommodations were among the best on the ship.
Of course, when they parted, Bexia gave the young World Lord a few benefits in return. After all, even if it had been a gesture of thanks, Bexia wasn’t the sort to ignore basic courtesy.
“Bexia, why are we going to the Abyssal Front? That place isn’t exactly safe!” Talisha was already browsing information about the Abyssal Front on the virtual network.
The Abyssal Front was an ancient defensive line that had existed since long ago. It had been built to hold back the ever-expanding Abyssal Demons. Its history stretched back to the age of the Abyssal Demon Lords, when the Abyss invaded half the universe. Wherever they went, nothing was left standing, and countless lives were slaughtered.
Then, for some unknown reason, civil war broke out in the Abyss. That gave the outside world a chance to recover. In the years that followed, they gradually reclaimed the regions of the universe they had lost, eventually driving the demons back into the Abyss. The various races then joined forces to build a defensive line along the Abyss’s border, curbing the demons’ attacks.
Bexia rolled his eyes as he looked over the information Talisha had found. The Abyssal Demon Lord they were talking about was him. But when had he ever been that brutal? He’d only ordered them to plunder resources. What happened after that, he had no idea about. ╮(╯_╰)╭
“Take a guess,” Bexia said with a smile.
“Hmm…” Talisha rested her index finger against her chin and thought for a moment. “Could it be that you were a guard on the Abyssal Front, got sucked into a spatial rift for some special reason, and are now going back?”
“Heh…” Bexia chuckled. Talisha’s imagination really did run wild.
“No?” Talisha understood what Bexia’s smile meant. “Then are you going to the Abyssal Front to find someone? Or is your home there?”
“No.” Bexia shook his head.
“Then… are you going there for revenge?” Talisha’s eyes lit up. She felt sure she’d finally guessed it.
“Neither. I’m actually going to the Abyss as a tourist. Believe me?” Bexia said with a smile.
“Who’d believe that? Besides, they say the Abyss is the home of the Abyssal Demons. It’s full of terrifying creatures. Are you going in there to get yourself killed?” Talisha rolled her eyes at Bexia, unconvinced.
“Would you believe me if I said I was the Abyssal Demon Lord?”
“Who are you trying to fool? If you’re the Abyssal Demon Lord, then I’m some ancient god!” Talisha didn’t believe a word Bexia said.
“If I tell you and you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do about it.” Bexia shook his head with a smile, then looked out the window at the universe rushing past.
“The problem is, who would believe you if you said that?” Even Eileen, who rarely spoke, couldn’t help arguing with Bexia. After all, they understood what kind of existence the Abyssal Demon Lord was, even as newcomers to the universe.
“Believe it or not, I’m definitely going into the Abyss. I’ll make sure you’re settled somewhere safe.” With that, Bexia turned and headed into his room. He needed to start making plans for what came next, and he couldn’t neglect his training in the Three Thousand Illusory Gods Technique.
He currently had five phantom selves: the Chaos Phantom God, the Destruction Phantom God, the Space Phantom God, the Time Phantom God, and the Fusion Phantom God. He was also trying to condense a Karma Phantom God. As for more ordinary phantom gods, like the Fire Phantom God and the Water Phantom God, he wasn’t training in them for now. There was no need to spend too much time on those.
For now, Bexia didn’t need more phantom gods. He needed better ones.
