Chapter 31: The Chalice of Power Appears

The two battlefields continued for several months before finally settling down. In the end, Lanoras defeated and killed the Sun God, causing the entire Sun God pantheon to vanish. A few gods managed to escape, of course, but they could no longer pose much of a threat.

Of course, Lanoras hadn’t won easily. One of his arms had actually been severed by the Sun God. Though that had weakened him, it wasn’t a permanent injury for an immortal god. He only needed some time to recover.

The battle between the God of War and the God of the Underworld also ended quickly. The final victor was the God of War. In terms of divine power, he had been almost completely dominant, but the God of the Underworld’s strange abilities had still given him plenty of trouble in the final battle!

In the end, the God of the Underworld merely fled. He wasn’t killed by the God of War!

Thus, nearly all the fragments fell into the hands of the final two sides. Once they decided the victor between them, the Grail of Power would appear!

What came next would be the ultimate showdown. The victor would claim the Grail of Power!

A month after the conflict ended, Lanoras suddenly arrived in Gehr City. His arm had already grown back, but his aura was clearly weaker than before.

“Oh! What brings you here?” Bexia looked at Lanoras in surprise.

“You should know why I’ve come, Your Excellency,” Lanoras said.

“I’m not interested in the Grail of Power. Take this fragment. Once the seal on the world is lifted, I’ll leave,” Bexia said flatly.

Looking at the fragment Bexia had tossed over, Lanoras frowned and said, “Wouldn’t you reconsider, Your Excellency?”

“I already told you, I’m not interested in the Grail of Power. You should go back,” Bexia replied, shaking his head.

“In that case, I’ll take my leave first.” Lanoras didn’t say anything more. He turned and left.

“Your friend came again?” Talisha glanced back and forth between Lanoras and Bexia, then walked into the courtyard. Sitting down beside Bexia, she asked him that question.

“It’s nothing,” Bexia replied, shaking his head. But just as he was about to pour himself a cup of tea, he suddenly sensed danger and turned toward the sky. A point of light seemed to flicker above the clouds, rapidly growing larger in his eyes.

“Spatial Severance!”

Bexia swiped a finger through space. A black line collided with the point of light, triggering a massive energy explosion above Gehr City. The resulting storm swept over the city like a howling Category Ten gale, and some of the old buildings couldn’t withstand its force. They collapsed one after another.

“Whoosh—!” Bexia vanished in a spatial teleportation. When he reappeared, he was already tens of thousands of meters above the ground. A sea of clouds stretched beneath his feet. Before him stood a young man holding a blood-red greatsword, an indescribably unrestrained smile curling at the corners of his mouth.

“You should be the God of War, right?” Bexia said with a frown, sensing the thick aura of blood and killing intent radiating from him.

“I never thought a place this small would be hiding a powerhouse like you!” The God of War licked his lips and tightened his grip on the blood-red greatsword. Then he stepped forward.

“Boom!” The air exploded. The God of War appeared before Bexia in an instant, his greatsword already cleaving toward Bexia’s head.

“Bang—thud!” His smile abruptly froze. A foot slammed into his lower abdomen, kicking him violently away.

“Didn’t you see how polite Lanoras was with me?” Bexia looked at the God of War a hundred meters away. An ordinary immortal god couldn’t have endured that kick, yet the God of War had suffered no serious injury.

That was because he wasn’t an ordinary immortal god. He was an immortal god at the highest peak of the realm.

Although he had suffered a setback in their first exchange, blazing battle intent ignited in the God of War’s eyes. He rose to his feet, and the dense aura of blood and killing intent behind him formed a scene of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. Countless vengeful souls seemed to be roaring within it.

“You really are powerful!” The God of War suddenly laughed. Then his bones gave off a thunderous crack. His body slowly grew sturdier, while his height shot upward. In the blink of an eye, he had transformed into a giant dozens of meters tall.

“Hmm…” Bexia frowned at the sight. His gaze sharpened as he looked at the transformed God of War. “I never expected the founder of the Tower of Sages and the God of War to be the same person!”

“No! The God of War is still the original God of War. It’s just that he was gravely wounded by my teacher in that battle back then, and I took the opportunity to devour his soul!” Now that his secret had been seen through—and with matters having reached this point—Lanoras no longer bothered to hide anything. He laughed wildly as he spoke.

“Bzzzzzz—!”

At that moment, in the central region of the land, Lanoras’s true body fused all the fragments of the Grail of Power together. An invisible force immediately spread outward, linking the fragments and bonding them into one.

“I already told you I’m not interested in this thing. Do you really have to fight me?” Bexia withdrew his gaze and looked at the God of War under Lanoras’s control.

“Only the dead can make me truly feel at ease!” The God of War—Lanoras—raised his greatsword and hacked it toward Bexia without the slightest hesitation.

“In that case, don’t blame me for being impolite!” Bexia wasn’t someone to be trifled with, either. Not wanting to fight didn’t mean he couldn’t. Since the God of War—Lanoras—had come knocking on his door, Bexia didn’t mind teaching him how to behave himself!
