"Talisa!"
"Talisa!"
"Talisa!"
"……"
Cheers filled the sky, everything atop the lookout tower was visible, except for the moment when Bexia handed her the wooden arrows, which was subconsciously ignored. Countless people only saw Talisa shooting down gods and killing countless monsters, displaying heroic feats!
"You are a hero now!" Bexia patted Talisa on the shoulder, pulling her back from the cheers.
"This is all because of you. I never expected you to be this skilled. You must be a great mage!" Talisa knew very well that all she did was shoot a few arrows, and everything else had nothing to do with her. In truth, it was all Bexia who had done everything.
Great mages were legends among humans, capable of rivaling gods, each one a living legend!
"I didn't do anything!" Bexia chuckled, indifferent to killing a few measly lackeys. Moreover, the forest goddess and river god were top-notch characters, only at the lowest level among the gods in this world!
At that moment, the old king walked over with a group of guards, all eyeing Talisa enviously. But due to the inappropriate setting, no one knew what could have happened otherwise.
"Talisa, you've grown up!" The old king didn't say much, just looked at Talisa with contentment, then raised her hand, placing his sword in her hand, and proclaimed, "From now on, Talisa is the new ruler of Gaerl City!"
"Father, you..." Talisa was instantly dumbfounded, inexplicably being made the heir by her father. Generally, a female would not inherit the throne.
If the king had a prince, the prince would inherit the throne; if there was no prince but a princess, the princess’s husband would inherit the throne, and their children would carry the champion surname of the city; if there was no heir, the king would appoint the next successor!
Queens were rare in the domain of Oloses, existing only in a few places!
It was unexpectedly easy for the old king to pass the throne to Talisa, mainly because her feat of slaying two gods was enough to make her famous in history. Although the world had some biases between men and women, they were all equal before strength!
"This is all rightfully yours! Celebrate!" The old king gently pushed Talisa forward to stand in front of countless subjects. The atmosphere reached a critical point instantly, all eyes on her, waiting for her to say something.
Talisa was a bit nervous at first, but her good princess manners quickly helped her adjust. She stood with her sword and proclaimed, "My sword will cut through all obstacles before me, even the lofty gods cannot stop my steps!"
Not exactly a coronation speech, rather with a touch of teenage recklessness. But it didn't matter. What was important at that moment was not what she said but the atmosphere at the time, any word spoken would ignite everything!
"Talisa!"
"Talisa!"
"Talisa..."
"Ah~!"
She was thrown up high by some unknown force, and repeated incessantly in the crowd, feeling the joy after victory and the cheers of the people for her as the new ruler.
"Thank you very much for your help, Lord Bexia!" The old king glanced at Talisa and then turned to Bexia. He knew his daughter inside out. Could she slay gods? Even a few powerful monsters might not be her match, let alone two gods!
"Consider it a gift for her!" Bexia smiled at the astonished Talisa. "A little gift for becoming the new ruler!"
"Lord Bexia, are you leaving soon?" The old king suddenly asked.
"Soon, I need to understand some things!" Bexia nodded.
"I have a library with some collections, maybe it could help you!" The old king said with a smile, actually wanting to persuade Bexia to stay. But from what had happened, if the forest could be killed by him, then what else was worth him staying for?
The old king had thought of marrying Talisa to Bexia, but unfortunately, Bexia was too powerful. He knew such a person couldn't be bound by a small city, and most importantly, he couldn't see any interest Bexia had in Talisa, at most, she was treated as a friend!
So the old king thought of helping Bexia as much as possible, in return for the favor of a strong individual, though small it may be, it was potentially a thousandfold return!
"Well, thank you then!" Bexia nodded, then glanced at the old king and said, "Does your injury bother you? Need me to help heal it?"
"No need! Only old wounds, won't kill me... *cough*" The old king coughed twice, wiping away the traces of blood from the corner of his mouth without a trace.
"I've aged! Can't compare to the youth!" The old king sighed, looking at the distant sunset.
The beast tide was unexpectedly repelled. Outside the city walls lay the bodies of countless monsters, rare food sources. After all, with the forest ruled by two gods, relying solely on herding couldn't meet the meat-eating needs of the population. So the fate of these dead monsters was self-explanatory!
Under the light of the flames, Gaerl City celebrated the victory all night, with huge bonfires, singing, and dancing...
