After a joyful celebration that lasted the whole night, a terrifying disaster that made everyone pale struck the following day. Countless monsters and towering tree spirits were advancing towards Gaer City, and they were expected to reach the outskirts of the city in just half a day!
"How could this happen?"
"This is a beast tide..."
"...It feels like I'm seeing that war from decades ago again!"
Numerous people in Gaer City looked at the dark mass of the beast tide approaching with a sense of looming horror. Some elderly people even recalled events from decades ago, reminiscing about memories they would rather forget.
It was another beast tide attacking Gaer City, although they emerged victorious last time, many lives were lost in Gaer City that day. The streets of the city were filled with corpses, blood congealed into cakes on the ground, impossible to wash away even after several days of cleaning. Even months later, the air still carried a lingering scent of blood!
However, this current beast tide was three times larger than the last!
"Prepare the legions, ready for battle!" The old king furrowed his brow tightly. He had ascended to the throne after the last beast tide and had been expanding the strength of his legions over the years, all to prevent history from repeating itself.
But what he did not expect was that this day had finally arrived!
"How did this happen? Why has a beast tide appeared?" Theresa stared blankly at the vast army of monsters in the distance, suddenly realizing something. Biting her lip, she said, "Could it be because I tamed the Golden Lion?"
"Don't overthink it. One Golden Lion wouldn't trigger a beast tide attack. Besides, haven't you noticed this is a joint attack by the Beast God and the Forest Goddess?" The old king leaned against the city walls, observing the massive army of creatures.
"We in Gaer City do not worship deities. In their godly eyes, we are a thorn. War is a common occurrence. Among the previous kings of Gaer City, only a few have not experienced a beast tide!"
"Child! By taming the Golden Lion, you not only reduced the deity's minions but also brought us a powerful force. I look forward to your performance on the battlefield!" The old king gently caressed Theresa's face.
"Yes, father!" Theresa nodded firmly.
Bexia frowned slightly as he looked at the monsters. As for why such an attack was happening, it was probably because of the missing artifact of the Beast God, and the Forest Goddess had come to avenge her brother.
"Bexia, can you help me?" Theresa tugged at Bexia's sleeve. She knew Bexia was mysterious and skilled, but he was not a native of Gaer City. Faced with such a terrifying beast tide, she was unsure if Bexia would stay and help.
"What do you want me to do?"
"Do your best to help me... If it's too dangerous, you can escape on your own!" Theresa thought for a moment, realizing she couldn't force him. After all, the beast tide was no joke and could result in casualties.
"Alright! I'll do my best to help you," Bexia smiled. This situation was partially his fault, and he had no intention of shirking responsibility or leaving others to face the consequences for him.
"Just a bunch of small fry!"
As time passed, the residents of Gaer City grew increasingly tense. The movement of the beast tide, accompanied by ground tremors, became clearer, indicating that the beasts were drawing closer.
Roar!!!
Roar!!!
Two terrifying roars rang out. A seven to eight meters high black giant and a five to six meters high silver leopard roared, followed by countless monsters in response. They were once messengers of the Beast God!
The roaring tide shook people's hearts!
"Boom! Boom!"
The beast tide parted to create a pathway, as if welcoming their champion. A towering treant over ten meters tall emerged, with a human-like but extremely aged face, resembling a hundred-year-old elder. Standing on its head was a pale green figure.
The Forest Goddess!
"Madam Forest Goddess, why are you starting this senseless war?" The old king had changed into a brilliant golden armor that dazzled in the sunlight as he stood on the city wall, questioning the Forest Goddess who faced him.
"I will use your blood to honor my dead brother!" The Forest Goddess said grimly, her words revealing much information, leaving the old king somewhat overwhelmed!
"Destroy this place!" The Forest Goddess gestured, and the countless army of creatures behind her suddenly surged forward, a black torrent rushing towards Gaer City!
"Madam Forest Goddess, it seems there's a misunderstanding on your part!" The old king seemed reluctant to fight, not wanting to see his people engulfed in war.
"I was surprised by the death of the Beast God, but for you to accommodate us to Gaer City, isn't that questionable?"
"Haha! Questionable!" The Forest Goddess distorted her face into a smile and said, "My brother was killed while looking for the Golden Lion. Now that the Golden Lion is in your possession, do you claim no responsibility?"
"Pals! I know you are formidable, but I'm not sure if you still have half the strength you did back then!" The Forest Goddess descended, and her figure floated up, unleashing numerous vines towards the old king!
"In that case, let me see if you, Madam Forest Goddess, have grown in power!" The old king gripped his sword in both hands, dispelling his formerly desolate aura. They had exchanged blows several times before, so they had some understanding of each other!
