The flourishing Manjusaka and the newly blossomed new flower were engaged in a fierce battle, with the new flower never falling behind. When it truly bloomed, Pluto's Manjusaka should also wither away.
The two petals clashed in the sky like a rain of swords, creating an extreme battle scene that brought the work in the underworld to a complete standstill. Whether shocked or just spectating, no eyes were willing to leave the sky.
"Don't move!" I gently swung the sword in my hand, the energy from the blade creating a crack in the ground, blocking the restless hearts of Pluto's children.
"Demon Dragon!" Most of the newcomers were surprised to find me standing seemingly harmless under the roof destroyed by Pluto and Nana. The legend of the Demon Dragon's ferocity was well-known, but today I was exceptionally kind. For me, as long as someone wanted to disrupt this duel, I would make sure they wouldn't succeed.
"Do you want to intervene? Then why didn't you do so before?" I and Lilith stood in front of them.
"We don't have the ability..." It was Pluto's eldest son, the valiant Tu Ya Guer, who spoke. He had bravely participated in the God-Demon War, yet he claimed not to have the ability. "Tu Ya, you are the oldest among us. You were brave in the God-Demon War, yet you say you lack the ability? Punch Demon Emperor was around the same age as you, is he really much stronger to become the Demon Emperor? Why is Las Guer the oldest Demon Lord? Because none of you dared to do what Nana is doing today. If Nana loses today, you are all welcome to try, but for now, no one can intervene!"
Suddenly, a banishing magic barrier appeared in front of all of Pluto's children, acting as a deterrence to the light magic. The participating children in the God-Demon War could clearly feel that this powerful light magic belonged to the Holy Dragon. The rumor of the unity of light and darkness was confirmed, fully embodied in me.
"Holy Demon Dragon! Are you trying to reconcile us with The Divine Realm?" Tu Ya wasn't too keen on the idea of reconciliation. The hatred from the God-Demon War lasting for thirteen million years was deeply ingrained in him.
"You can differentiate then. Those gods are beneficial to you, so you can reconcile with them. In the current situation, you have no choice but to reconcile. I need The Demon Realm to unite with Hisa. Can you do it? Accept Hisa, this godly race, you and the gods are essentially the same source. Perhaps you have forgotten."
The fact of the gods and demons having the same origin had been sealed for too long. In Tu Ya's generation of demons, almost none had heard of it, but if they were to ask Las Guer and Forest Lord, they would understand it better. However, the mindset of rulers told them that silent animosity could be their most potent force.
"Will challenging the Holy Demon Dragon get us the Demon King's throne?"
Pluto's children had also heard rumors of the new ten demons ascending, with Dream King being the first.
"Oh? Why think of challenging me?"
"Daring to challenge you is better than challenging Father. At least it tells Father that we are not weak!"
"It's better to mend the pen after the sheep is lost... It seems not too late. Since it's just a symbolic challenge, I might not need to act." I pushed Lilith forward. "You can also join in!"
The demons were always straightforward, and when given the opportunity to fight together, they would not refuse, even if it was their own sister. But they all knew that Lilith was the Dragon Queen and would not hold back!
"Ah!" Lilith's mind went blank for a moment, as she was originally just playing with the hem of my clothes behind me, watching her sister battle their father while the younger sister cheered by the side, which was supposed to be a very pleasant scene.
Facing the combined attacks from one hundred and five brothers and sisters, the scene was truly unforgettable for her, and the most terrifying part was that she did not feel any fear at all. I raised a defensive barrier in front of me, preventing the splintering attacks from reaching me. Meanwhile, Lilith had disappeared from her original spot, employing spatial magic with a significant distance of appearing very high in the sky, equivalent to a hundred-story building, something common among the demon clan who were adept at spatial magic. They were not surprised and had a tacit understanding amongst themselves. The group of five immediately launched an attack, and Lilith, realizing they were experienced warriors, decided to take the initiative by summoning dark flames that converged into a fiery serpent. Three of the siblings simultaneously used dark flames to defend against the attack!
Despite being outnumbered three to one, the situation did not seem disadvantageous as the strengths were evenly matched. However, the true power of the Dragon Queen had already manifested. While the flames clashed, no one remained idle. Two groups of siblings flashed to Lilith's left and right, launching a barrage of ten-legged kicks that appeared to be specially trained moves. Simultaneously, forbidden magic was unleashed within the group of ten, creating a seal that hindered any teleportation within the enclosed perimeter.
The dark flames split in two, maintaining the standoff while forming a protective barrier in rotation. The kicking attacks inflicted no harm on Lilith, causing the ten to fall back only to advance once more! Lilith's actions caused the mandala beneath her feet to elevate millions of underworld spirits, forming a gigantic skeleton that belonged to an ancient and formidable monster. This monster, which fell in the early stages of the underworld by the hands of the previous demon king, served as the cornerstone of the Pluto family and had now been awakened by Lilith to serve as the foundation of her constructed battle monster. Adorned with millions of spirits as armor, the monster fashioned a appearance resembling a small white rabbit but weighed as heavy as a mountain when it struck, rendering it an effective tool in dispersing the enemy forces.
"You can't be sneaky and cozy up to anyone!" A figure appeared beside me in a cloak of the Underworld Envoy - none other than Nilo Guer, Nana's younger brother.
"Wait, should I call you brother-in-law or sister's husband this time? How unlucky am I to be caught in between you two..."
"Call me 'sir'."
"Alright then." My response didn't seem to bring Nilo any closer to me, leaving him slightly disappointed.
"While others are in battle, what are you doing?"
"Just resting; those who can't win have no need for false bravado." Nilo, as a mere bystander, crouched on the sidelines, clearly plotting something mischievous but gave up when caught.
"You lack ambition. Is your sister really your blood relative?"
"You shouldn't say things like that casually. Sharing the same mother is our most crucial connection; having the same father but different mothers creates a divide in this family."
"Nana and Lilith don't share the same mother, yet they have no barriers between them. Not all members of the group of five fighting together were necessarily born from the same mother!"
Nilo felt a bit embarrassed by my remarks, but the truth was that their cooperation was limited to the battlefield only; outside that context, it was a dog-eat-dog scenario.
Suddenly, a loud noise resonated, but neither of us paid much attention to whether it originated from Nana or Lilith - in such battles, silence would be abnormal.
"Between my sister and my younger sister, who do you think will win?"
"Who are you favoring?"
"The outcome of Lilith's battle seems uncertain, but the fight with my sister will determine who seizes the throne of Pluto. We all know that our father is getting old; we have lived under his shadow for countless days and nights. Rebellion is a long shot. Truth be told, if it weren't for you, my sister would not have made a move to claim the throne. We are not that fortunate." Nilo bluntly revealed this underlying meaning, which was correct, except he was unaware of the three contractual agreements and the Demon King on Nana's side, which were of equal standing. To surpass, it would depend on the actual performance.
"Let's turn around and take a look at the battle between Pluto and Nana!"
Upon turning around, Pluto and Nana were diving down from a kilometer-high altitude. Two Manjusaka flowers descended from the clouds at the same time. Nana's petals were bright red and huge. At first glance, the two flowers seemed indistinguishable, and Nana's blade scraped past the whiskers of the aged Pluto multiple times. At the same time, she threw her shield, a floating shield she learned from Elena, allowing the shield to float by her side like a wingman, making it easier to protect herself and freeing up her hands to wield her dual knives as before.
Nana's hands were quick with the knives, frantically swinging them on the descent path. Pluto caught each swing. In this situation, Pluto needed to counterattack with more powerful magic. He had to go all out on the next strike as victory or defeat lay after it.
Pluto split the flowers in two, turning them into energy and injecting it into his hands. The final card up his sleeve was the Manjusaka flowers of the two. The burns from the celestial demon fire would make it difficult for him to heal, and his stamina would continuously decline.
"Father, it's the final moment of reckoning!"
Similarly, Nana transformed her flower into energy and infused it into her blade. If the blade wasn't reinforced, it would burst from the potent energy.
"Come, leave scars on my aged body, and I will hand over the Demon King's throne to you!"
The energies of father and daughter exploded in the high sky of the underworld, and the shockwaves cut through the ground and pierced the clouds. The skeleton monsters on the ground were instantly split in half. Lilith and the siblings ceased their attacks and looked up at the sky. Everyone realized that the outcome was about to unfold, whether Nana's blade could win the throne.
Nana's blade was halted just below half a meter from Pluto's chest, but the battle was not over. The blade gradually advanced inch by inch. It had been a long time since Pluto had broken out in a cold sweat. The tension reminded him of his first battle, the fight against the former Flame King for the safety of the underworld, where he had almost ascended to become a star in the sky of The Demon Realm.
Suddenly, the flying shield veered around Pluto's divine presence and, as Nana's other weapon, struck Pluto hard on the back. At this moment, Pluto revealed his age. His magic could no longer keep up with Nana's radiant energy like the rising sun. The blade was finally breached, and Nana and her blade crossed paths with Pluto.
"Cough!" Pluto clasped his chest, a deep and long gash due to the burning of the celestial demon fire. He no longer had the ability to heal quickly. Despite being injured, Pluto smiled. He had waited too long for this moment, envisioning the performance of every child at this instant. Thus, he was not surprised by any of Nana's actions. Nana had chosen the performance that pleased him most.
Nana turned back and slowly descended, supporting the injured Pluto with her arm. After the life-and-death battle, they would reconcile immediately. It was only then that father and daughter could sit down together, after all, they were family.
"Now, Father, it's time to go receive Lilith's mother."
"Protect the underworld and cooperate with Qin Yang! The Demon Realm is changing, the sky is already fractured, and when the sky is pierced, it will probably be the time for the world to expel us. I am old, and being driven out by the world is just an early end to my life. You all have a longer future!"
"Daughter! I understand."
Glancing around, Pluto saw the myriad Manjusaka flowers, a crimson sea formed by over a hundred children. This was Pluto's achievement. He found solace in this, as they had bravely stepped out of his shadow at last.
"Sister! It's finally over. I'm exhausted from dealing with over a hundred people alone. Qin Yang is despicable!" Lilith, who no longer had to contend with anyone, immediately came over to Pluto and Nana to complain, even though it didn't mean much.
"Lilith has grown up as well, and the Netherfire has become a part of your body. Youth is truly wonderful!" Pluto looked at Lilith's face. Even facing over a hundred people, not a single one of them was weak. If today it came down to a struggle for Lilith, the result may still be the same. Pluto's reign was still not secure.
Pluto Rasi Guer finally retired in front of the eyes of the children, with a young child taking his place on the throne. However, he still couldn't completely relax, even when his daughter had the support of the Holy Demon Dragon. A parent's worries would only end when they were laid to rest, something that parents cannot escape in their lifetime.
