Where am I?

When I woke up again, I didn't know what time it was, or rather, wasn't I already dead?

There was complete darkness all around, and I could faintly hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore in my ears. Breathing was difficult, as if I was lacking oxygen.

Damn it! Where am I? Didn't I die after saving the little girl? Why am I still alive? And both my feet are still intact...

I moved and immediately felt a thin, not-so-hard object touching my body. My first impression was that it was a wall. Was I wrapped in something strange? It couldn't really be a wall... With this thought in mind, I struggled and pounded on the wall, making a dull sound with my actions.

As time passed, breathing became more and more difficult. If I didn't break free soon, I might suffocate.

It would be ridiculous to die again without understanding the situation. Did I get reincarnated again? After all, I was already reincarnated from Earth once, so it's not impossible to be reincarnated again after death. Thinking of this possibility, I increased the force of my attacks on the wall in front of me. With my continuous assault, a crack finally appeared on the wall, and I saw a hint of blood-red light seeping through the crack.

This isn't the Western human world, is it... With great curiosity about my current location, I hit and kicked the wall with all my strength a few more times. Finally, the wall broke open and I immediately stuck my head out to breathe in fresh air. But to my surprise, the air was murky, filled with flames and a sulfurous smell!

I could really hear the sound of waves this time, and I found myself at the edge of the coast. I was wrapped in a red eggshell, with a bloody sea behind me and red sand and stones on the ground. There were also some strange eggs around, some cracked open, some still quiet, and some moved a few times before settling down. And there were a few that, after a series of vibrations, opened up a small hole, from which a thin small Fiend would crawl out.

Oh, so I've come to Purgatory. Purgatory? Purgatory! Purgatory!?

Ah ah ah ah ah... I only died once, how did I end up in such an incredible place! This is unscientific!

Cough... Science... let it go, there is no way science can explain me dying twice and being reincarnated twice.

So, the small Fiend that crawled out of the egg is me, and I also crawled out of an egg, which means... No way, this joke isn't funny at all.

However, my hands were red, skinny, without scales, but with sharp nails, just like the hands of a small Fiend. My feet were also bald and red... I haven't really turned into a small Fiend, have I... No, Yan Moradiel... Even if I am to transform, I want to become a high-ranking race like a Fallen Angel! Please let me transform again...

For some reason, every time something big happens, my thinking becomes extremely absurd. But thinking about it again, it doesn't seem so bad to become a demon. At least I have been reborn once, and maybe I can evolve step by step into an advanced demon... Perhaps I can even return to the Western human world and find Nicole and Rosca. But is the time in Purgatory different from the Western human world? What if I spend a few years in Purgatory and when I return to the Western human world, Nicole has become an old lady with children and grandchildren... or maybe I won't be able to go back at all!

"Gurgle gurgle..."

Who, who is calling... Oh, it seems to be my stomach... Right now, I shouldn't think too much, I should focus on finding something to eat.

As they say, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." I think maybe I can break open an egg and eat a demon egg. I just don't know what demon eggs taste like. Would they taste like chicken eggs?I picked up a stone from the ground and aimed the slightly pointed end at an untouched egg. With a strong swing, I hit it twice. It's good to have a weapon, as there were cracks after just two hits. A demon egg! It's something that ordinary humans never get to see in their lifetime, and I could eat it right away. The thought made me a little excited.

The hard shell cracked open, and a smell of death poured out from the opening. I took a glance inside and immediately lost my appetite... A dead baby Fiend lay inside the egg. How could I still have an appetite after seeing this?

To be honest, I lost my appetite and interest in finding other eggs. I decided to go elsewhere for a look.

Leaving the sea of blood, I walked towards the beach. It was a bit uncomfortable to walk barefoot on the ground, but demons indeed have tough bodies. Even if I stepped on some hard pebbles, it wouldn't hurt my feet to the point of death. At most, it was just uncomfortable, and I got used to it as I walked.

Gradually moving away from the sea of blood, I heard the sound of fighting ahead. Curiously, I ran over and saw two baby Fiends fighting fiercely on an empty piece of land. They attacked each other's weak points, seemingly fighting to the death.

They were choking each other's necks, their sharp nails pierced through the red skin, and blood splattered...

After a minute, one was dead and the other was injured. The one with severe injuries had its neck broken. Although it was still struggling to breathe, it wouldn't survive for long. Out of curiosity, I approached and crouched down. The survivor, on the verge of death, looked at me with a hint of fear in its eyes. Then, it was overwhelmed by various emotions like madness, ferocity, brutality, and hunger. It roared at me, not knowing any better, and threw a stone at me.

The stone thrown at me wasn't very fast, and I easily caught it and threw it back, hitting the severely injured Fiend's chest. Its body slightly shook, its eyes protruded, and it died.

Me: "..."

This was too easy! After all, it was the first monster I encountered, and even if it gave me some experience, it was just too casual!

Speaking of which, after killing the baby Fiend, I actually breathed in something like a soul. It was a faint red soul-like baby Fiend struggling to enter my body through my mouth and nose. I quickly tried to cover my mouth and nose with my hand, but it was useless. The soul passed through my hand and continued to enter deeper...

What is going on? What kind of nonsense is this, eating souls? It feels so disgusting. I've really been tricked!

Also, why did my body suddenly feel hot? And my stomach wasn't as hungry anymore. I didn't eat anything. When I tried throwing a few punches, I found that my strength had increased a bit!

Hmm... Could it have been because of that soul just now?

The soul of the baby Fiend that killed each other before wasn't eaten by me. It's possible that the survivor ate it, or it dissipated. If I can eat the souls of the monsters I kill to strengthen myself, then I've become the type that levels up by killing monsters like in a game!

Wow, this is great! I finally have cheats... But how did I get these cheats? And didn't I die in the human world? How did I suddenly appear in this strange place?

There are too many questions to resolve, but right now, what I need to do most is fill my stomach. To satisfy my hunger, I started looking for other baby Fiends.

In this place, there were only baby Fiends everywhere. The little demons fought each other, and the survivors devoured the corpses of the dead, gaining the qualification to survive. The dead ones were naturally consumed, leaving no trace of their bones. As for me... I won't eat the corpses, but I definitely won't let go of the souls.

My second target was two baby Fiends who were fighting. Since I lost my short sword and small shield, I had to find two stones that I could hold in my hand as temporary weapons. Although they were just two primitive stones, with my current strength and aiming at the enemy's vulnerable points, they still had considerable killing power.

Next to a secluded pile of rocks, two baby Fiends were locked in a heated battle. These two demons were like me, just born and haven't had a chance to feed yet. Hunger did not suppress their strength, but instead made them more vicious and aggressive.

Every attack they made left a wound on the other's body. In no time, both sides were covered in scratches. And that wasn't all, the two bastards ended up hugging each other and tumbling to the ground, biting each other with their teeth. Although there were only two of them fighting, looking at these two guys alone made it clear how dangerous demon battles can be.While they were rolling and biting each other on the ground, I quietly approached and once I reached a certain position, I swiftly rushed forward and threw two stones at the head of one of the small Fiends, hitting it so hard that its head cracked open and blood flowed.

The other small Fiend had a lower IQ. Seeing me attacking its opponent, it thought I was there to help and began attacking its kind even more viciously.

Child, I apologize for deceiving your emotions... I felt no guilt as I tightly gripped the stone and threw it at the other small Fiend...

After absorbing two more souls, I was no longer as hungry and instead felt a surge of strength throughout my body. As for these two corpses... honestly, I have to admit that when I saw them, I was a little disgusted... These two corpses were quite bizarre in the way they died...

The feeling of hunger still hadn't disappeared, and I even had the thought of whether or not to eat the corpses... This was abnormal, as I had no intention of eating the corpses, but physically, I wanted to devour the flesh and blood of the dead demons... I didn't have this thought when I broke out of the eggshell...

In the end, I resisted. After all, I am not a true demon, and I cannot go to such lengths for power. However, because of this, I thought of an interesting possibility.

I moved one of the corpses underneath a prominent large stone, and I myself climbed onto the large stone with a stone the size of a head in my arms, crouching down and lying in ambush. I waited, waiting for the other small Fiends to take the bait.

As expected, after about ten minutes, one of the small Fiends discovered the corpse. My current position still belonged to the periphery of the blood sea. It should be another newly born little demon, driven by hunger from within. It probably didn't have the concept of traps in its mind.

The little guy eagerly ran over and grabbed the corpse of its kind. It sniffed it first, then looked around, realizing there was no one else, and couldn't help but take a bite on the left forearm of the corpse.

Delicious! The little demon showed a mesmerized expression. It must be the first time in its life that it had eaten something, especially something of its own kind. But this would be its last time eating, as I suddenly jumped down from the stone while it took its second bite, using the stone in my hand to smash its head as I towered over it.

There was a dull "bang," and the demon's head exploded, staining me with red and white all over my face...
